If "Real People" Commercials Were Real Life

Vexus says...

I live in Pittsburgh, we have an equally annoying accent "Yinz goin dahntahn to get a chipped ham sammich?" but beyond that I lived in Worchester, MA (basically about an hour outside of Boston, effectively a suburb even though it was it's own city) for almost a year. I can spot the Boston accent like nobodies business. In my group of friends when I lived in Worchester (pronounced Wors-ter by locals) there was one guy with a thick Boston accent, he used to get so much grief from my other friends. We tease in Pittsburgh anyone with a thick Pittsburgh accent though as well.

Who knew that the Boston accent / attitude would be such an effective antidote to douchery?

...Maybe it makes more sense if I change the "antidote" metaphor to "vaccine"; fighting douchery with a more controlled strain of douchery.

(all in good fun, my New England brothas )

Irish People Taste Test Thanksgiving Food

My first trip overseas from the U.S. was to Dublin in 1991 and I was enthralled by the Irish people, their accent, the street signs in Gaelic and pretty much everything else. It was great to be in the land of James Joyce, the Pogues, Clannad and U2. I almost had to remind myself at first that this is not some kind of Disneyland exhibit, that this is the way they are and have always been. Then I bought a "sausage roll" from a snack shop which turned out to be a big chunk of spam. Brought me right back to reality.

Doctor Strange -- chase through a city folding in on itself

I agree. I thought they did a pretty good job of bringing the "escher on steroids" aesthetic to the screen.

It was a good movie, although I did struggle with Benedict Cumberbunnys accent.

Calling the double standard police, calling the double standard police -- Stephen Fry made fun of Scottish accents at the end of this video!!! I think you should make a big deal out of this. For shame. And it's at the top of the Videosift Top Ten! *gasp*

So, I suppose thats not racist? Next time an asian clip is uploaded I can use stereotypical chingrish to comment and that wont be racist either. Love these double standards
