LAPD Failed To Test Suspected Drunk Driver After He Crashed

BuilderCG says...

Having been a jury member for a DUI case where there was video evidence (shot from within the police station no less) that made it appear the accused was drunk but there was no blood or breathalizer evidence I can definitely say: "yes, administering the test IS important".

Is it necessary to test him if he's so blatantly shitfaced and car is getting towed?

Actually I also notice it, this is the english version of this video and they remove the blood part, I watched the local version and if I am not mistaken they showed there needle and blood.

The thumbnail shows the needle drawing blood and the video doesn't. I thought it might be considered strange to express dissatisfaction about that.

DOOM - Fight Like Hell Cinematic Trailer

artician says...

And another thing...!

I went back and watched the 18 minutes of singleplayer footage that's on Youtube. Everything about it looks heartbreakingly terrible.

Enemies still spawn out of mid-air(?)
The animations throughout are lifeless and robotic, especially the first-person ones.
Gore is just... Particles and a lame excuse for early asset despawns. There's NO blood splatter anywhere unless it's part of the environments (I know why; I don't care). Some of the deaths are cool, but are still static directionally-irrelevant animations.
The game slows time when you switch weapons... >.>
The enemies have a generic getting-shot reaction.
There's little 'punch' behind the weapons
And then their little faux-FPS camera work makes you question the whole thing anyway. With that particular video in general it's pretty gross anyway, with the faked audience audio/cheering in the background.

At least their VFX and Environment teams seem on point.

Honest Trailers: Mad Max: Fury Road

ChaosEngine says...

Honestly, I don't really give a damn about the blood. It simply doesn't matter for me.... if it's there, great, but I certainly didn't sit through the movie thinking "damn if only there was more blood".

And yeah, there was CGI that was cleverly hidden.... so what? That's the point of good CGI. But there was certainly plenty of practical effects.

Agree with your point about American puritanism... what is it with that country that it loses its shit every time they see a nipple.

As for a pale imitation of the original, the first Mad Max benefits greatly from nostalgia and conflating it with the far better Road Warrior movie. As a standalone movie, it's above average, but hardly a classic.

The spectacle of it was awesome, but a good modern action film still pales in comparison to a good 80's one. Were was the blood? Besides the good guys, so you'd feelz for them and the main bad guy so you'd be like 'fuck yea! DIE MOFO!' Besides those instances there was a lot of violence and gunplay but so little carnage. Guys being shot and flying 30 feet through the air without blood splatter or wound to be seen. This movie was so hyped for its practical fx but all I saw was a lot of CG that was cleverly hidden and violence without any actual violence in it. It had an R rating not because it was gory and violent but because some random extra flashed her tit for 5 seconds. Fucking american puritanism. Calling the plot thin is an understatement.. it was literally consisted of half a page of writing.

Over-all fun movie with some cool spectacle. But still pale imitation of the original.

Why So Many Russian Cars Have Dashcams.

5:45-6:00 is the snuff stuff. There's no blood or guts, but you "know" someone got hurt/killed.

@robbersdog49 It looks like they were emphasizing an accidental death that most likely could not have been avoided by the vehicle. How else would you prove no fault that it wasn't at least a Russian equivalent of manslaughter?

Wallace Dresses Down Gillespie Over Romney's 20% Tax Cut

bamdrew says...

A relative of mine owns a small business, and recognizes that an increase in purchasing power in the bottom 90% of Americans would drive more purchasing in the US, and more buying would drive more investment by him in terms of labor and non-liquid assets in his business. However a bit of cognitive dissonance leads him to "feel" that increasing taxes on large corporations and the very wealthy to lock in lower taxes on the middle class is not 'leveling the playing field', and "feels wrong".

Basically he optimistically feels that he may one day be in the top 1% of earners, and this weird selfishness that he may one day be incredibly wealthy and thus affected by a higher tax burden is leading him to vote against his own goddamn interest. This, and he "feels" that once taxes have been raised on the wealthy, there will be blood in the water and it will eventually slide down to those making $~100k. Its hard to argue with feelings about the future.

Thank you QM for that thoughtful reply.
It just seems that the imbalance right now is in demand, not the availability of capitol to invest.
