If Coffee Commercials Were Honest

If Coffee Commercials Were Honest

ForgedReality says...

Damn that chick's hot. I couldn't give two shits about coffee, but I'm addicted to beautiful women. Of all the great things we get to experience on this Earth, are women not the most amazing?

Oh, that, and, I guess, your addictive substances...

Crack is one helluva drug

artician says...

If I hadn't seen real addicts display this exact behavior, I'd be right there with you. Except I have, to a disturbing level of certainty., so.. Ugh, drugs...

Just mentioning it as proof people can legitimately behave this way from substances. Maybe take it was evidence that addiction-behavior is so well-known that others have been able to emulate it comedically, which is fucked/sad in itself.

So fake I wouldn't believe it if he whipped a rock out and started smoking it right there.

This is exactly how people pictured futuristic ads in the sci-fi movies of the 80s. I'm glad we're aiming for the cliché rather than substance.

This Diagram Explains Trump's Response To Orlando

dannym3141 says...

Listening to Trump is like listening to a kid give a pretend speech.

"We need to get the bad people what did this and all the muslims must cooperate with the police to get the bad men because they know, they know who the bad people are and they have to tell us."

It's like watching a confidence trickster sell snake oil - "It works, I know.. I know, trust me." - and I'm one of the only people that can see through it. Inside there's a desperate man with a hunted look on his face going "Please tell me they bought what I just said and they're not going to pour all my oil down the drain and make me walk out of town with my pants around my ankles again."

He's like a white, old Kanye West - he's all talk and no substance, his best stuff happened so long ago no one can remember whether it was really any good in the first place or just good fortune and all his co-workers think he's a joke and can't believe how he ever got to where he's gotten. Whilst Kanye married into an association with a big arse, Trump achieved that all by himself though he did have a head start with that name.

Traffic cops get new tech to seize money off your credit car

I can only hope the follow-up story actually had some substance to it, something with actual names and not just cops, corporations, local officials. Her presentation skills are more suited for reading Hansel and Gretel to children.

Vantablack can make a flat disk of aluminium float on water

ForgedReality says...

Right, they've been used in products that the consumer has no way of accessing without destroying said product. A paint-like application wouldn't be something I would trust to stay applied to the surface. You've seen paint rub off of objects, right? A fine powder is going to stay better than paint over time? You gonna let your baby put it in its mouth?

There have been studies dating back to 2005 or so outlining the possible dangers of these substances, yet we still don't really know all there is to know about it. I'm not so quick to trust that something like that would be safe.

But but thanks for correcting my misinterpretation about the hydrophobic thing.

newtboy said:

I was not talking about Vantablack in my comments. I was talking about other, older hydrophobic coatings.

Also, I'm fairly sure they bond the nanotubes with something to make them stick and stay in place. Pure nanotubes are just a powder, they would not act like paint. Nanotubes are not a new discovery and have been used in consumer products already, mostly electronics, google it.

Hillary SuperPac runs first Anti-Trump ad in several states

newtboy says...

Hasn't SHE also been filmed mocking Trump at her rallies...another person with disabilities, but his are purely mental.

EDIT: Also, is his mocking a disabled man really the most important flub he's made? Wouldn't disputing some of his policies be more to the point and make more of a difference. I mean, we already know he's a douchebag, and that's a selling point for most of his followers, not a deal breaker. Explain how his tax plan doubles the national debt, raises taxes on all non millionaires, and ends all social programs many of his followers use to live, while drastically lowering tax rates on millionaires and making it easier for them to hide money and move businesses out of the country, contrary to what he tells them in his rallies. I see this as a huge part of the problem this election, it's become all about personality, nothing of substance at all, because neither main candidate wants to discuss their plans or history.

EDIT: The following statement has been found to be inaccurate.

Um...keep in mind that she's NOT the nominee yet, people. It's another lie from her campaign, repeated by all media organizations.
A candidate needs 2383 PLEDGED delegates to win the nomination. She has 2184. Because there seems to be some question among Clinton supporters, 2184 < 2383. She's 199 short. That doesn't mean Sanders has much chance, it means the claim that "she won the nomination" is a BOLD FACED LIE that apparently 90% of Americans are gullible and ignorant enough to buy. Don't be a sucker and fall for then repeat another lie. Wait for the convention before calling her the nominee. She didn't win yet.

YouTube Video channels or persons that "Grind Your Gears" (Internet Talk Post)

Great list above! For me, it is videos that are superficial in the material the are supposed to cover. I was trying to find some information about multi-location VPNs. I found a few videos and they boil down to:

Find a VPN.
Find some software.
Set it all up!

No substance at all, just superficial concepts.

in response to the TYT comments: i really appreciate what TYT are trying to do but they need to get their shit on lock. they're too experienced to be operating like a high school news channel/early morning radio comedy show.

same with the real news but their stories are way, way better. and why can't they title their videos in any kind of coherent way?

and i feel similarly about bill maher. about 10-20% of the time he has something worth saying. he does, however, put together some awesomely bizarre groups of people, which i appreciate so long as they're allowed to speak in complete sentences.

anything from the amazing atheist or thunderf00t is just pure cringe these days. they lost the plot years ago and now just their voices sound like crying toddlers to me.

any MRA/ideologically anti-feminist stuff is also pure cringe. i'm all about critiquing ideas and i have my own critiques for parts of feminism but pretty much everything i've seen devolves to "look at this stupid fat girl" pretty quickly.

i also second what newtboy said.

anything political that bobknight posts is just a clusterfuck of wrong/partially wrong/intentionally misleading and adds nothing of substance to any discussion.

what i miss rachael maddow articles. she always seems to research and cover the facts of her stories really well.

Why Obama is one of the most consequential presidents ever

bobknight33 says...

Obama is the worst president in over 50 years. Worse than Jimmy Carter. And that is saying a lot.
Obama care is failing and collapsing under its its own weight.

It was to provide care for the 20- 30 million Americans who could not afford or have HC. Now there are still 20 -30 million who can not afford it.

Opening relations to a fucking communist is not a good thing.
8 years of dismal economic growth. That's trick down economics.

No growth policies that stimulated business to any great extent.

The only thing Obama did of substance is given us 20 trillion in debt and gender neutral bathrooms. That is shameful.

Coulter predicts Trump's rise to much laughter

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

For me it's not so much the substance of what she says, it's the incredulous derisive reaction. We're all short-sighted idiots, me included.

Why Uber Is Terrible - Cracked Explains

Ashenkase says...

He compares 13 minutes to 6 hours as some sort of huge difference in training. They are almost exactly identical in substance and meaning at those numbers.

Cheaper, more convenient, better coverage in our city, cleaner vehicles, more friendly drives, the list goes on and on. If the taxi cab companies could offer something similar then I might think of using them again. But they got beat to the punch and now they are going to lose their shirts. Too little, too late.
