Blankfist roasting on an open fire (Parody Talk Post)

xxovercastxx says...

Because I strive to be an honest person, I haven't participated in one of these roasts up till this point. Making false, crass, juvenile claims about people, even for fun, just doesn't sit right with me. However, today the roastee is blankfist and I have absolutely no problems making true, crass, juvenile claims.

Speaking of making things up, blankfist claims he owns a signed copy of Amazing Fantasy #15. For those not in the know, this is the first appearance of Spider-Man and is worth a rather hefty $50,000. Now blankfist, kids of low self-esteem often make up stories to impress people with, but you've got to keep those stories believable if you expect them to work. Also, bragging about comics isn't likely to work on girls... this is why you're not allowed on the premises of elementary schools nationwide.

When you think about it, as a web dev, blankfist is really not unlike the <blink> tag: He serves no real purpose and anyone with a modicum of intelligence detests him and the people who associate with him.

Before blankfist met his GF, she used to spend her weekends with Ryan Leslie and Sacha Baron Cohen, something she's thinking she should have stuck with since blankfist prefers cranking it to Ross Perot Ron Paul's photo instead of being intimate with her. She confessed he recently woke her up in the middle of the night yelling "The Revolution is coming, Ron! Yeah, baby! The Revolution!" from the bathroom. She said it would probably be too awkward to go back to Cohen after the Ron Paul stunt in Bruno, though.

So can we ban his racist ass now? (Wtf Talk Post)

dannym3141 says...

Satire has to be carefully expressed in obvious terms and is usually an over-exaggeration of the real-life bigotry that you're trying to shine a line upon.

- Sacha-Baron Cohen's "Bruno" and "Borat" are satirical - they are extreme over exaggerations of a stereotype for comedy and/or the exposition of bigotry.
- Ricky Gervais often does satire - such as pointing out things said about people in wheelchairs, with physical disabilities, etc. for the same effects as above.

Satire is if i went up to a bunch of racists and said something like that to illicit a response. If i simply said it on international TV like the oscars, "Thanks for the reward, oh and by the way...!" - that would be racism. Or if i stood by a banana stand mentioning it. Or if i stood outside a zoo saying "When they eat a banana, please observe that...."

See in this video, no one was even referring to anything about the black race nor was anyone being racist for there to be a satirical post. The poster in question took the example of how a monkey might open a banana, formed a link between "monkey" and "black person", and made a comment. The racism here is that the link is IN WESTY'S HEAD, not in the post nor the video.

For those reasons, this can't be classed as satire. I believe it's a decent argument on my part. Let's face it, if there aren't reasonable qualifications of satire then you can wash away anything offensive as satire. Let the KKK be a satirical organisation if you like.

There was no link to racism or black people on the post for there to be any satire, it was in his own head. Anyone who found his comment funny - you are laughing at a racist joke, not satire. No link, no satire. There is always some kind of link to someone being mocked for their bigoted ways. You can't just blurt out racist things and claim it to be satire.
