Stephen Colbert schools James Franco on Tolkien knowledge
He's the fan of all time. He bested the Tolkien expert Peter Jackson hired for the LOTR trilogy. Jackson said, "I have never met a bigger Tolkien geek in my life."

Everything Wrong With The Avengers In 3 Minutes Or Less
@Shepppard first of, I think it's a great action movie.
But there are many points in this video i would say are right. For example I didn't see the Cpt. America movie... and why should I? They didn't film a coherent story like Lord of The Rings or Star Wars where it's expected you see the movies in order.
I don't like to be forced to watch for example Cpt. America, just to know what the Tesseract is. It's standalone movie and should be understood without the other movies. In the case of the Avengers it should be enough to know who the Characters are.
In my opinion this is just bad movie making. If you have a film that is based on a book for example, it also shouldn't be necessary to read the book to understand the film. It's nice to have something in the movie only Fans fully understand. But it definitely shouldn't be the main object the story is driven by.
It would be like watching Lord of the Rings, without anyone explaining what the ring does. And after the movie you ask some fan and he says "Yeah you have to read the book to understand that."
P.S.: On a side note, Peter Jackson did not make a good job in explaining what the ring is/does/makes so important but at least he tried.
Stephen Colbert schools Peter Jackson on Hobbit history
Just great, I'm now going to spend the first 6-7 minutes of the movie, when I see it, looking for Peter Jackson's cameo instead of enjoying the movie!
Cast of The Hobbit Interviewed at Comic Con

Because of Kiwi Peter Jackson and how much the films are associated with the area, I think this justifies a downunder channel.
Absolutely, can't believe I didn't tag that!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Trailer #2
As much as I was excited to see Guillermo Del Toro's take on the Hobbit, and it would have been a spectacular visual treat, I am so happy that it's in Peter Jackson's hands.
He has a deft touch of the light hearted next to the gut wrenching and epic.
The man was born to make all of the Tolkien movies.
I will be doing my damndest to find a theatre that shows it in 48fps too, f*ck off all those who can't handle watching things at anything other than 24fps
StudioADI Starship Troopers Animatronic Effects
CGI is not always cheaper. Film producers learned that the hard way. Peter Jackson could have done every set in LotR or The Hobbit with CGI. Instead they build dozens of miniatures and models and animatronics, because it was faster and cheaper for some scenes than fiddling away for months with computer models and the right amount of virtual lighting.
The Mouth Of Sauron
I never could stand this part of the Extended Edition. The actor's choice of character (and/or Peter Jackson's direction of that character) just came across as too buffoonish with the constant baring of the teeth. He doesn't taunt or cast the hopelessness as he's supposed to.
Neil Patrick Harris gets humped on The Price Is Right
>> ^G-bar:
ok wtf happened to drew carey. He's half the size of his old self and with weird hair. When this transition happened exactly?!
Controversial statement incoming: some people shouldn't lose weight. Drew Carey, Peter Jackson and Brian Blessed all look weird skinny.

Jaesus, it's just a book/film/whatever.
Read Lord of the Flies, you people - it might actually make you think.
About what? What happens if we're all mean to each other?
I think I understand why some people don't like LOTR. When I was a kid playing Dungeons and Dragons, I used to think that LOTR was a D&D rip-off! But eventually I read it. I hardly read any fantasy at all, in fact, "Game of Thrones" is the only other medieval fantasy I've ever read. But I do have a soft spot in my heart for LOTR. Actually, my friend is an amateur bookbinder and we're working on an 11" by 17" hand-printed leather and vellum copy. So yeah, I guess you could say I'm a little crazy about the subject.
Still, Tolkien had his issues like every other author. I for one can't wait for the new movie. It's obvious that Peter Jackson has given so much of his own life and culture to the movies that I find them beautiful to watch in their own right. He worked so hard making every tiny little detail. In fact, the only thing that gets tedious for me, weirdly enough, are all the battle scenes. But I love how everything looks like a Led Zeppelin cover though. And I love how the orcs and goblins all have kiwi accents. That's just hilarious.
HA! LOTF vs LOTR!
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Trailer #1
Instead of Peter Jackson? It might as well be George Lucas if someone other than Jackson were to take it on. Because if you're going to make a mistake, why not go full-retard?

I really wish that Guillermo Del Toro would have directed this instead of Peter Jackson. I really think he could have done a better job than PJ.
