The Dangles - Henry Earl

schmawy says...

Dangles Henry Earl Lyrics
(as best as I can tell)

I can't believe
We went to White Castle
On our first date
And I can't believe
I can't believe
I fucked you anyway.

And I can't believe
Your wife pretends
She doesn't know
You got back on Prozac
When it was time to go.

So tell,
Henry Earl
I wanna be his girl
He's the sanest guy in town
And he can dance just like James Brown
Unlike the other boys around
That made me cry.

So Henry Earl I wanna
Be his girl I want my
Apple wine on sale
Spend the night with him In Jail
And I know he won't post bail
Like other guys.

I can't believe you downed
Twenty two cans of PBR
And I can't believe
I can't believe
You shot up in my yard.

And I can't believe
You pretend that it was me
Who broke your heart
When you know damn well you left it
in that dirty bar.

So tell,
Henry Earl
I wanna be his girl
He's the sanest guy in town
And he can dance just like James Brown
Unlike the other boys around
That made me cry.

So Henry Earl
I wanna be his girl
And we can sleep on Jeremy's porch
(-------?)with plastic forks
And forget about the dorks
That said goodbye.

And I can't believe
You shoplifted my only
Birthday gift
And I can't believe
I can't believe
That it was still a
Piece of shit.

And I can't believe
you fucked up my best friends
little sis
Hell, even Henry Earl
Can surely do better
than this.

So tell,
Henry Earl
I wanna be his girl
He's the sanest guy in town
And he can dance just like James Brown
Unlike the other boys around
That made me cry.

So Henry Earl
I wanna be his girl
And wear other people's jeans
Sell pints of magic beans
And I know he won't
Crush my dreams
No not this time.

[Every fuck I know?]

James Brown - Please, Please, Please

MJ 'borrowed' his signature moves from his favorite movie..

csnel3 says...

I think what we are seeing is a mimic. When mj was young his father forced him to mimic James Brown. As he grew older he would mimic the people that he liked.
He is a mime, look at his white face. As an adult he began to mimic Bob Fosse.
He mimed Elvis also, and then married his daughter.
I know he was a great talent, but I truly think he was a very good mimic, that coveted things that he watched.

Wow good find. Although, I submit that he probably got a lot more of his moves from James brown.

I'm getting some flack for posting that but I stand by my assertion - watch em side by side http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD-4CDVcjCc&NR=1

I'm sorry but that he got "a lot more of his moves from James Brown" is an absolutely ludicrous assertion and I'm flabbergasted by it, especially with you comparing them to the very many MJ moves illustrated in this video.

That "side-by-side" you linked (which is actually just MJ next to himself) shows MJ doing some crazy legs action very similar to James Brown's, but that's just one single move and by far not one MJ is even known for. When anyone consider's MJ's moves, they don't picture his feet shuffling around.

It was Pablo Picasso who famously quipped that "Good artists borrow, great artists steal".

Picasso was one of the greatest artists who ever lived, and he stole a lot! Regarding your thesis of Michael Jackson vs. James Brown, I guess my question is... so what?

Aside from the attempted "exposure of MJ" angle, this is a great friggin' video! James Brown could really rock.
