Lil Micky - Lil Dicky Freaky Friday Parody

Falcon Heavy & Starman | Inspiring New SpaceX Video

Music so good and that last shot... *inspired

Also we get to see what happened to the center core @1:12
(Edit)
Elon had tweeted the shortage of ignition fluid was the problem of why two of the three engines did not fire. So the core was coming in to fast, and is why it does not attempt to land on the barge but continues a designed trajectory to hit the water.

Wedding hero saves girl from going up in flames

New Rule: The Lesser of Two Evils

enoch says...

i have to agree that when the election was nearing the end,and it was time to vote.the choice was pretty clear.

i never liked the "lesser of two evils" argument, but when faced with a choice of:

soft fascist, narcissistic used car salesman, who spoke in bombastic and racially charged rhetoric, but really said nothing.

or...

a war-mongering corporatist, who never saw a war she didn't want to send your kids to go die in,or a corporation she didn't want to extract donations from for political favors and who basically said nothing as well.except for 'well,at least i am not that THAT guy"--->points to trump.

i am still gonna say...go with the corporatist.

because in the end,at least on domestic policy, hillary would have been adequate.oh she would have signed the TPP,and fucked millions of american workers, and she would have most likely expanded the drone campaign, and continued with the american empires policy of "regime change",but she had/has the knowledge and capabilities to actual lead a government.

hillary knows how to politic, and understands how shit gets done in washinton, and things would have remained relatively unchanged here in america.maybe..maybe.... some incremental change due to the political pressure the sanders campaign brought.

so i get it,and maher is not exactly wrong per se",but i think he is missing the bigger picture that so many in the beltway have missed, and CONTINUE to miss, because they reside in their own, tiny and insulated bubble.

the american people were desperate for change, and they have been for decades.after obama's campaign of 2008,and his "hope and change" platform, which ignited the american people, only to see,not "hope and change" but rather "more of the same".

and what was hillary offering?
a new message or vision? a new path for america that would include everybody to blaze a new path of invention, creativity and imagination to create an america everyone could be proud of? and feel a part of?

nope..she was offering "more of the same".

well, americans had already had their fill of "more of the same".they had lost faith in a system that appeared to no longer represent them.so they chose the nuclear option for change.terrifying and horrifying change.

so go ahead and blame the "bernie bros".feel free to slap responsibility on those "uneducated and redneck hillbillies".cry and whine and point the finger at those liberals who refused to abandon their principles, and by all means bask in the glory of your own self-righteous moralizing, and condescendingly condemn anyone who voted for trump,or who refused to vote at all.

you can sit in a small room with everybody else who voted for hillary, and self-righteously smell each others farts and call it a rose, because you are obviously a better quality human being than the rest of us.

and by all means, refuse to examine the fact that hillary ran a shit campaign, and had no real message, vision or path to the future.ignore the corruption and blatant, and politically motivated shenanigans of the DNC.god forbid you experienced a moment of honesty.

is trump going to be a disaster of presidency?
well,it sure is shaping up to look that way isn't it?
but we have survived horrible presidents before, and we shall survive trump.

and on a positive note:
trump has brought many people out of their apathetic slumber, and they are scrutinizing everything he does with a fine toothed comb.the amount people who are becoming politically engaged is quite impressive.

there is nothing in our representative democracy quite as powerful as people gathering together to put pressure on our elected representatives.

town hall meetings, that used to be wastelands, are now being packed to over-flowing.with citizens calling out their representatives..to their FACE..on how unhappy they are.

so go ahead and ridicule those who voted for trump, but it is due to trump that so many have gotten off their couches and are taking it to their congressmen and senators.

just a non-controversial,and easily predicted side effect, when you put someone like trump in power.

man,the politics in my country is getting really fucking interesting!i cannot WAIT to see what happens in the next episode!

what do you guys think?
/end rant

Firefighters of GTA V

Police are ignited by water? All this time I've been bringing the wrong kinds of guns to my fights, all I really needed was a supersoaker.

Best of the best Shuttle launches

BSR says...

I lived in Cape Canaveral during the shuttle program and was fortunate enough to watch all but 5 launches live.

An excellent video with scenes I thoroughly enjoyed in slow motion and HD.

A brief mention in the video about the 6 seconds from when the main liquid engines ignite until the solid boosters ignite is called "twang."

When the main engines ignite, the power causes the whole assembly to rock forward. It takes 6 seconds for the assembly to fall back to vertical again and then the boosters light up and away it goes.

Rocket Under Ice

AeroMechanical says...

I dunno if it's gunpowder that they put in firecracker fuses, but once it's ignited, gunpowder doesn't need an external source of oxygen around to burn. I think it frees more oxygen than it uses or something like that, but I'm too lazy to google it.

SFOGuy said:

I would bet; I imagine that the fish wintering under the ice had a tough moment with that shockwave.

In another note: why didn't the water put out the fuse? From simple starvation of oxygen if not actual dousing?

World's Biggest Bonfire 2010

Chaucer says...

meh. thats a weak bonfire. They didnt have a central support so it leaned and fell over way early. They didnt ignite it properly so it only burned on one side making it fall over prematurely. The materials used was weak also which weaken the structure.

it was pretty lame actually. I wouldnt even call it a bonfire.

This is what a bonfire should look like.

Michigan Republicans Said What-What? Not in the Butt!

newtboy says...

I get your point, but I feel this is more akin to fixing the ignition but ignoring the fact that there are no brakes on the car. It's all fine to do it that way, unless you put the car on the road before you fix it all.
I just fear that leaving these laws (or portions thereof) in effect means they will be used and abused to abuse people, as they have been used in the past. I find them disgusting attempts to make homosexuality illegal, and leaving them on the books also indicated it's immoral by the states measure. That needs to be fixed, as it dehumanizes a large number of people for nothing.
I hope someone WILL pick this up as a battle worth fighting. I don't want my tax dollars going to support homophobic, illegal, immoral laws, their use, or even their removal by the courts when it would be so simple and reasonable to have taken care of it as they re-wrote the law. It's abhorrent to me that it's assumed that just bringing this issue up would end debate and halt the bill...it's likely reality, but it's disgusting.

To be clear, it doesn't effect me. I live in Cali, and I'm not getting any anal anyway (giving or receiving), but no oral?!? Screw that, yo. I'm sure glad Cali lets me get my freak on.

Yep and where did that ruling come from? The supreme court, i.e. not politicians who pander to their idiot homophobic base.

I'm fine with someone picking this as a battle. As I said, it might come down to one brave couple "confessing" and forcing the law to be tested in court.

But sometimes, when you're fixing the ignition, you have to let the worn out shocks slide. Yeah, you need to sort that shit out, but it's not the job you're working on right now.

Please note, we had a ruling against ALL these laws in 2003, so another precedent from 2015 doesn't give me much hope we won't see more of this.

Again, it doesn't make it WORSE, because it's already terrible. IF these laws were unused and just never removed, that would be one thing. Since they are STILL used against people, this is a battle I wish someone had picked.

How a 50 Caliber Tround Machine Gun Works

AeroMechanical says...

Looks to me like the only benefit they're claiming is that the mechanism is mechanically simpler. That's probably a reasonable benefit, but they've had 100 years to perfect more traditional guns so I imagine there would need to be a pretty substantial advantage to be worthwhile, particularly since it needs special ammunition and all the faffing about with supply chains and inventory that it would necessitate.

It's possible the open chamber would help heat-wise by preventing the bullets from "cooking off" which is a problem with some machine guns that happens when the chamber gets hot enough to ignite the propellant making the gun run away, firing without the trigger being pulled. That wouldn't apply to an electrically (or whatever) driven gun like this, though.

So... yeah, it's probably just one of those "let's try it and see what comes of it" sort of things, because I don't know why you'd want a gun with funky ammunition that takes up more space because it might be slightly more reliable than the otherwise very reliable existing guns.

How To Crack An Electronic Safe With A Magnet And A Sock

oritteropo says...

There was an entertaining comment along those lines in a recent Jalopnik article, tell us about the worst car you ever owned, user bandi53 talking about a 1987 Volkswagen Fox that was a bit of a lemon:

[...]
Next was the ignition lock cylinder, which just entirely froze up one morning when I went to start the car. After that was the starter, which left me stranded at the gas station. The day after (Christmas Eve) I was heading back to visit my parents, the alternator light came on... So I figured I’d limp the car home. This would have been a great plan but unfortunately the car caught on fire.

I left it in a mall parking lot with the ownership on the seat, signed, and the keys in the ignition. I hoped I'd never see it again, but driving past two weeks later, it was still there. I came back that night with a trailer and scrapped it myself.

I take the opposite approach. I drive a 46 year old, rusting, dented, beaten up Bronco. It's doors don't even lock. I've never had trouble with people trying to steal from me, it's fairly obvious I have nothing they want!

Ehang184-chinese unveil new passenger drone prototype

EMPIRE says...

"Absolute safety by design"

- open props and the passenger has to pass between them to get into the cockpit. all it takes is a false ignition or some other mistake after it lands , and the person is cut in half.

- drone design. just one of the 4 engines fails, and that shit drops to the ground like a brick, because it has no gliding properties and it can't autorotate like a helicopter or gyro, and at the height it will operate, I doubt a parachute would be of any use.

yeaaaahh... Not really anxious to try one out
