Little Girl Gets 3D Printed Exoskeleton Arms: "Magic Arms"
>> ^TheSluiceGate:
Science > Prayer.
Where are you Shinyblurry??
(Great sift man. Would promote if I could!)
Why even bring that into it? FFS can't there just be a beautiful, heart wrenching video with a positive outcome? Wtf? Maybe you should look at yourself and ask why you need to bring hate and religion into a sift that has nothing to do with either.

Praying Mantis - EPIC Hunting Compilation
*horrorshow quite frankly
seeing those little guys tearing through exoskeleton and the gooey gooey centers is just disturbing.
Robotic support brings freedom to paraplegics - Tek RMD
It's a nice little bandaid, but it isn't a solution. It misses the point - which is the fact that being a paraplegic is sheer hell and an living out of an exoskeleton is demeaning. I'd rather see this money go into stem cell research.
When able bodied people see this kind of stuff they think "oh neat, looks like handicapped people are getting along just fine" and then go on with their day (I know this because I thought this way before I got hurt). Not walking isn't the half of it and something needs to be done to get the hundreds of thousands of (often young) sufferers better, not just mobile.

Fantastic, i have to say i'm a bit disappointed i didn't see any of those cyborg style limb assisting exoskeleton jobs. Hoped they'd started to come in.
Latest navy railgun test video
Actually Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) has all your base!
They deal with ICMB prevention, space superiority, and cyberspace/telecommunication kill-switches. That's where the money goes these days, not to NASA.

no ordinance just slugs at such high velocity they destroy targets
lasers that can destroy flying objects
mechanical exoskeletons from Alien to help move cargo
the navy has all your base.

Time lapse feeding process from an ant colony.

Anyone notice that all the ants are different from each other after awhile? I did.
Nothing very obvious. What did you notice?
I did notice that their abdomens swelled up as they were feeding, so they looked darker and thinner when they got there, but were fatter and a lighter colour when they left. Parts of their exoskeleton moving apart to show inside?
Different colors on their abdomens, different head sizes.

"Oh, this is me, nice".. QBO the robot sees his first mirror
the robot part of this project to me seems to be prity much a waist of time.
I guess to the layperson putting really basic software into a robot shaped object and having voice synth with pre recorded stuff looks impressive and so that's why people do these projects.
we are still at a point where the software is miles behind and that is where the work needs to be done for "intelligent" robots , granted the underlying software that maps out the image for the program to learn what is what might good in this project but its hard to tell from this video.
I guess my point is that until the software has got past a certain threshold there is no benefit putting it on a plastic case with wheels. To me the pre recorded voice and fake communication is as believable and beneficial to robotics as sticking eyes on a hoover.
Saying that I love physical robots that are actually progressing things like BIG DOG , or the Medical robots that can lift people , or the Exoskeletons that help old and disabled people walk , we are probably another 10-30 years before we will be able to marry convincing and practical AI with a robot in a way that's of real use.

How would you go about tattooing an exoskeleton anyway?
>> ^ant:
>> ^alien_concept:
The weirdest thing about this video for me is that people can still be surprised that someone with loads of tattoos doesn't bite the hedgehogs cute little nose off
I bite (and sting) without tattoos on my body.
Very slowly?

Robot Exoskeleton helps man walk after 20yrs in a wheelchair
<troll>
This product has been around for at least 10 years as a prototype and the main issue with it is the blood pressure and chronic bruising which could lead to amputation. Unless the user has Multiple Sclerosis or some other local debilitating disease, they will not feel the pressure or bruise below the waste and this could lead to a deteriorating situation over time. If they could add some type of pressure sensitivity to the exoskeleton, that would be a more viable solution.

this is awesome, although kinda funny that one of the features the bionic legs tout is the "ability to sit"
Imagine how hard it would be to get into them if they didn't allow for people with non functioning legs to get into them like he did.
I get what you're saying, it's kind of not what you'd think of..but it's something that if left out would make them something you have to wear all the time. It'd suck sleeping with that battery backpack strapped to you.
