Two failed LED bulbs for teardown to determine the cause

Cree-eepy. I pulled my shades after watching this video.

I mean, this technology has existed for decades but only in the hands of governments; while no more trustworthy than anyone else, its limited availability meant the ordinary citizen was unable to be the target of close surveillanec. Now it's available to any consumer with a few kilobux to waste. In a decade or so we'll probably see this sort of resolution on our smartphones.

Privacy really is dead.

TYT: Rep. Walsh Runs From Occupy Protesters

honkeytonk73 says...

Iron Maiden: Run for the hills.

White man came across the sea
He brought us pain and misery
He killed our tribes, he killed our creed
He took our game for his own need
We fought him hard, we fought him well
Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came, to much for Cree
Oh will we ever be set free
Riding through dust clouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom the stab in the back
Women and children, a cowards attack.
Run to the hills - run for your lives
Run to the hills- run for your lives
Soldier blue in barren wastes
Hunting and killing's a game
Raping the woman and wasting the man
The only good "injins" are tame
Selling them whiskey and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old
Run to the hills - run for your lives
Run to the hills- run for your lives

The moral of the story? They fucked over the Indians. Killed them. Took their land. Took their traditions. What makes us think they won't fuck the rest of us over too?

How to shut up noisy geese

Very lean meat on those birds. We cooked'em Cree style at our house once. Grab some sticks and string and dangle those birds upside down over a fire for several hours and you've got yourslves a deeeee-licious bird.

Thats too bad that they don't agree. The Cree in northern Manitoba confirm that they call us Eskimo based on "eaters of raw-meat", but hey, what do they know?

Qallunaq (also pronounced kabloonak) comes from kabluk (eyebrows), and naak (stomach). The story goes that Scottish whalers who came over in the 1700's had big bushy eyebrows and big stomachs - and the name stuck.

You can call me a snow-chink if you want. I won't feed that troll.>> ^xxovercastxx:

>> ^Throbbin:
it's actually a Cree word that the French adopted

Very few linguists, apparently, agree with that etymology.

What's 'Qallunaq' translate to?
How about we call you guys 'snow-chinks'?

While I'm not crazy about the word 'Eskimo' (it's actually a Cree word that the French adopted), we do use it amongst ourselves.
As for others using it - a friend of mine once asked an Inuk Elder what he thought about the word. The Elder responded that we never asked white people what they wanted to be called (we call them Qallunaq), so why should we get upset about what people call us?

Awesome post. This needs to be re-read again. A word is not derogatory unless it is meant to be so. There are words for other cultures everywhere on the planet. Someone should see what Russia and China have decided to call peoples living in the Siberian Tundra. Same situation?

Eskimo in Canada became a political hot button issue, but the word was not meant to be offensive. It is mildly like the usage of Indian in place of Native Americans. All Indians I know do not mind; if they do they tell you what they prefer (Apache, Ute, etc...).

Go compare the history with "Eskimo" and bigotry. Then look up any of the rest that are very well known biased, derogatory, racial slurs, and more...like: Ni;#er, Uncle Tom, Aunt Jemima, Apple (Indian (or N.A.) that acts white), and ethnic slurs across the world.

Sir, that may be one of the most racially tolerant (and awesome) things i've ever heard. Kudos!

Heard any good jokes lately? (Possibly NSFW) (Comedy Talk Post)

Throbbin says...

An Inuk and a Cree Indian were both out Goose hunting near their shared border. They both shoot a goose at the same time, it falls to the ground, and both walk up to it. Perplexed, they try to figure out who should get the goose.

The Inuk exclaims "We'll hold a test of manhood to decide who gets it."

He explains that they should kick each other in the balls until one of them gives up - the winner keeps the goose.

The Cree Indian agrees, and he spread his legs to give the Inuk his first shot. The Inuk, being a lifelong hunter, is very strong and stout. He runs up, kicks the Cree in the balls as hard as he can, and laughs hard as the Indian writhes around in pain. After recovering from the pain, the Indian stands up and says "My Turn."

The Inuk responds "Take it, it's just a goose" and walks away.

Placed in Jail for Short Shorts

Aniatario says...

To be completely honest I never liked the "traditional" way courthouses are constructed. The lowly accused are brought before a Judge who is quite literally placed above everyone else. High and mighty in a leather bound Judges chair.

I know that within some Cree and Ojibway communities (where folks are allowed to pass judgment within their own cultural contexts) the accused aswell as the jury sit on even ground within a circle. Ofcourse this method may seem rather unorthodox within European/American culture, but it seems to have worked on dysfunctional youth in some troubled communities.

Perhaps its just the way the profession is presented that allows some judges to fall into an abuse of power.
