Yea that was my biggest question too. Get the game out of the way completely then announce it.

I wonder why they couldn't delay the announcement until after the game ended.

Or maybe ABC wanted to be the first one to announce the tragic/sad/bad news.

Any Sifters bought an iPad? (Blog Entry by dag)

>> ^MarineGunrock:

Duh. You make a very good point there. But at least none of those people think they belong to a "community" or "culture"

Oh, man... yeah they do...

Here in Australia the two largest versions of this are Ford vs Holden (now owned by GM), people will seriously beat the hell out of others based on liking the wrong car brand.

I completely don't get it... my first real car that I bought when I was 20 or so was a Holden Commodore, and then the first car my wife and I bought when we became a serious 'family' as such was a Ford Falcon

So, yeah, not limited to Apple whatsoever. People like to show that they are 'Apple' overtly as a 'sticking it to the man' against MS I would say. And the fierce arguments between both sides is very similar to the fights between people with different consoles. A lot of it comes down to fear that you've backed the wrong horse... at least I reackon when I was a kid with a ZX Spectrum it was... 'Nah, the Spectrum is better than the C64... yeah... is... nerrr'

My distaste for Apple as a company is their smarmy fricken attitude and those vs ads predominantly. IF they had been doing ads about how great their machines are all this time without the bullshit pissing on MS then I'd be far more happy for them.

Oh... I know another thing that gets me riled up... the users themselves. We have a couple in our company, and they're forever trying to convert you over to Apple... Argh. Shuttup. Be happy with your Apple, and I'll be happy with my PC.

So that's where my bleating comes from, others trying to tell me how wrong I am to like Windows.

Hell, I LIKE Macs. Last two laptops I bought I wanted them to BE Macs but could not come at the huge price difference.

Still... that doesn't mean I can see the point in the iPad still Useless lump that it is

Jimmy Kimmel Ambushes Jay Leno on Leno's Own Show

Grimm says...

Leno's hands aren't exactly clean. It was Leno's people that planted a story in the NY Times reporting that the NBC executives wanted Carson out and Leno in. Carson was humiliated by the story and took it very personal. As a result he announced his retirement earlier then expected instead of Oct 1992 which would have been Carson's 30th anniversary. Carson had made it publicly known before all this that he wanted to stick it out at least to his 30th anniversary. Leno not only denied knowing anything about it but denied that any of his people had anything to do with it. Even Carson and his people knew that the story came from Leno's people but Leno was still in denial.>> ^bareboards2:
One thing that is missing from this whole spat is HOW Conan got the show to start with. He pushed out Leno by demanding the Tonight Show within five years of his last contract. That is a pretty low move. Carson was allowed to retire when he wanted.
So maybe some of this is payback by Leno.
The whole thing is stupid. Craig Ferguson taking the high road sums it up for me. He's a class act in my book, even with all his fart jokes.

"JFK Reloaded" is an Actual Video Game

xxovercastxx says...

Traffic Games excuse that this is just a way to allow people worldwide to do their own forensic investigation is bullshit. If that was really their intent, they wouldn't be calling this a game. I'm sure they "understood the repercussions" involved as well. In fact, I'd say they were banking on them. Nothing sells a product like controversy. If they wanted to be taken seriously about investigating the assassination and/or making sure people remember, they should have tried for some dignity in their advertising.

November 22, 2008 will be the 45th anniversary of the assassination, the 4th anniversary of this "game", and the 30th anniversary of xxovercastxx.

Multi-Facial - Vin Diesel Short

8756 says...

Wow ! This shows me an other "Vin Diesel" than I'm used to see in blockbusters. So, i've read his bio. The guy is smart. The guy deserves to be known as a writer. And moreover, this guy plays D&D !! He's a nerd ! A real one ! Here, from wikipedia :

"Diesel has played Dungeons & Dragons for over twenty years and wrote the foreword for the commemorative book 30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons. In the 30th Anniversary of Dungeons and Dragons issue of Dragon Magazine, they examine the fact that Diesel played Dungeons and Dragons, and reveal that he has a tatoo of his character's name, "Melkor," on his back."
