"stop-motion" means the subject is being manipulated so that successive still images create the illusion of motion. it's a form of animation.
many stop-motion animations use clay models or other still life objects, but some of them use people.
This animated short by Paul Berry was nominated for an Oscar in 1991 - he later worked on The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. (Running time is just over 9 minutes).
