This is the source, but it's not much of one.

I distinctly remember reading, from a more credible source (CNN, WP, etc.) that Cheney had threatened Wellstone and also said something along the lines of "We'll take you out" but, I'm sorry, I couldn't find one of those sources.

If I tried harder I think I could, but I'm not in the mood tonight.

Choosing a belief (including belief in ones own surroundings) can be rational when faced with more than one equally valid choice, but other than that I tend towards the same method of discovery. For me, metaphysics is never an option except as a "What if". I mean, why choose any unknown when it's not entirely clear? No point, really; unless you're terribly depressed by such unknowns and fancy coddling yourself.

For myself, I've never felt that I choose my beliefs so much as I discover them, that is, I find what makes the most sense to me as representing the 'real' world...

Even when it comes to taste, don't you sort of discover what you like rather than "deciding" what you're going to like?

I'm sure there's a gradation, with some things being more towards the "chosen" pole, but not not so much when it comes to metaphysical stuff...
