The Tyler Tabor Story

I could go on and on about addiction from a personal level but the YT description sums up the ignorance of the American public.
From YT: His parents didn't bail him out- his bail was only $300, but their son was also suffering from substance abuse. He had moved onto heroin when he could no longer get his opioids, they hoped he would get sober in jail and enter a rehab upon his release....

It's OK, the invisible hand of the marketplace will correct all this eventually. I predict with minimal loss of life. Minimal when compared to other loss of lives, like WW2, but not everyone, so that's good.

Please pass legislation that forbids for-profit companies from supplying life-saving services.

You could also force every employee of a corporation to watch their own company's advertising schtick to understand what is expected of them by their clients.
Such a massive, apathetic disconnect there.

Or, simply make sure that they will be held liable for situations like this one. Make letting inmates die cost way more than withholding an IV and there will be an abrupt about face on the issue.

I think the anger and disgust I feel at this abhorrent systemic breakdown can be partly summarized in the quote by the news anchor at ~12:07:

"I saw documentation of [various examples of gross negligence]. Why should you care? Well, every day Corizon dispenses health care you pay $339,000 whether it does it's job or not."

WTF. Seriously, the news anchor just said that Corizon was involved in destroying fellow humans and then said that the reason you should care about it is that it costs you money.

There's something deeply wrong here. There's something deeply wrong with for-profit prisons. There's something deeply wrong with for-profit healthcare. And if the only reason a society would care about someone's intense suffering and death is that it might cost them some money then there is something deeply wrong with that society.

Well said... what kind of society needs a reason to care after watching that? Is that what the human race has 'advanced' to after all these years?
