Asterophysus Batrachus ~ swallow

Talk about biting off more than you can chew...good thing for him he doesn't chew his food at all!

I had a large bichir and oscar in a tank together. Lived for about 6 months fine -- I'd read that bichirs may try to eat anything that can fit in their mouth, but the oscar was roughly the same size differential to the bichir as these two fish were to each other, so I thought it'd be fine.

Came back from work one day and found the oscar in the bichir's mouth, with about the back half still free. Both dead -- I assume the bichir died from internal damage from getting distended roughly like in the video. So, I'd wager that catfish may very well have met the same fate.

More than that, this is a horribly undersized tank for even one of those average-sized fish, let alone all of them.

Also, can anyone say overstocked tank? The fish/water ratio is pretty darn high. The keeper will have to do some serious water changes to keep that tank healthy.
