Yes, I agree. I just hope regionblocking will not be an increasing phenomenon. Would be handy to know beforehand if a video is regionblocked when submitting or by using an external site comparable with the greatfirewallofchina.org

Hi:)
I just read the Future Shorts website about their distribution
http://www.futureshorts.com/htmlViewer.php?id=15
Maybe all their videos posted on their YouTube channel are regionblocked for countries that are not part of their programme? On the other hand they talk about a "global exhibition network"..
I posted several Future Shorts clips,

I'll ask Krupo to check them.
Merci,

In reply to this comment by schmawy:
Krupo can't see it. I'll have to ask Sarzy and Calvados to try it because it seems to be *blocked

..oh, and thanks for the promote!:) I got a message from Krupo this video was dead but for me it works fine, it may be region-blocked or?

Heyhey schmawy!
thanks for your kind witty words! That was a great "exposé" without blowing my cover;)

Still no word from this Sifter?
Incidentally, I think SiftBot might be Eklek's sock puppet.
As I see you have the hots for it, you can use It, from time to time, just 2 powerpoints a time. Just notify me and I'll make it available. But make sure you use the right embed for the hot stuff/meat bag-sock puppet interaction..;)

Hi lucky760,

Let me in on that secret and I'll try to determine the cause. Thanks.
Fixed.
I'll reveal the search term:) I was looking if "Molly grows up" was already on the sift, so I searched Molly,
page 2:
http://www.videosift.com/search?q=molly&pg=2
Hope you find out what it is..Good Luck!
best regards,
Eklek
In reply to this comment by lucky760:
Thanks everyone for the kind sentiments.
>> ^Eklek:
I don't know if this is directly related to the recent update but..
What were you searching for?
>> ^MarineGunrock:
I hate to shit on your hard work, but when using the regular search, I hit 'enter' and it automatically brings me to the advanced search.
No worries. I don't consider reporting a bug to be shitting on my work.

..something along the lines that we live in a world where digitalization of music is ubiquitous..and it is hard to make a romantic clip about "stealing" (are we?) mp3s..

TY!
Aha, TBH, To Be Honest, nice one. TINA means There Is No Alternative, yes, maybe a bit uncommon..
So far regio-blocking is still quite a marginal phenomenon, so it's probably not so high on the priority list concerning the improvement of this site. Yes, implementation of such a pool is not unproblematic. We'll see.
Anxiously waiting what VS has in store in the near future..
The "web 2.0" - in general - is moving fast these days.

In reply to this comment by jonny:
(What is TINA?)
Finding a replacement is certainly the neighborly thing to do. But I'm not sure it's a viable long term solution. Well, maybe the pool idea could be. It's pretty interesting, but it brings up some complexities - vote counts, what regions, how to determine what's blocked etc. It's better than what I suggested though, and just about anything would be better than doing nothing.
TBH, I'm not sure it matters though, as I don't think the site itself has long term viability.
In reply to this comment by Eklek:
Hi Jonny!
yes, something needs to be done. Mostly, the easiest solution is to find the video hosted by a hosting site which is NOT regio blocking the video, if TINA
maybe a regio-block pool - collecting videos that are tagged regio-blocked - may be an option. Just like the dead pool one can help as a member by finding a non-region-blocked version of the video. What do you think?

In reply to this comment by jonny:
Ok, now let's *discuss what status region blocked videos should have.
First, can someone for whom this appears dead click through to youtube to confirm region blocking?
Second, as I've written multiple times before, this is only going to get worse, and for VS to ban entire video hosts for this is absurd. I really think we need a more sophisticated solution.
Is there any way to detect region blocking server-side? Perhaps that could be used to invalidate embed code upon submission? I don't really like that answer either, but I can't come up with anything else at the moment.

I'm afraid I'm not, but eclectech would be an interesting person (Nice clip! Thanks for noticing

I agree. I'd love to see a sift featuring a well choreographed dance on techno/electronica, let me know when you find one..:)
In reply to this comment by doogle:
That may be dancing, but he ain't no dancer. No choreography. No message despite that he really likes the music and can't wait for some eyes on him at a club.
