Accurate Subaru Commercial - Dog Tested Cat Approved

Baby Driver -- Opening Scene (Amazing car chase)

Mookal says...

Dare I say, ya'll missing the point. It's a getaway movie staring a 2006 Subaru WRX. Not an Austin, not an Audi, not a Jag. The folks acting take a back seat. Pretentious this is not, fun it is.

To be fair, it was the 80's when almost every car was still suffering from the oil crisis fallout. Handling wise, it still could run the track about as fast as a 3rd gen WRX. In a straightline run, it suffered even back then. A much cheaper 1985 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 HO was just ever so slightly faster than it in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

God help you if you ran into a Buick Grand National though, those things ate other sports cars for breakfast back then. Of course, if you were unlucky enough to be racing your 85 in 87 and happened to see an all black Buick with a GNX badge, you might as well turn off your engine and park. Those things were as fast as the Countach Quattrovalvole and the Testarossa.

It's all good. I have my STI for about 6 years now. There is a larger than normal amount of people here at work that own WRXs and STIs. I think we have around 6 or 7 here. We had one guy that had an EVO, but he sold it a year later for an STI.

While I love driving my car in summer, winter is where it really shines. With my excellent Nokian winter tires, I am able to drive mostly unhindered by the snow. Stopping is very good, too, but it means that I actually have to watch the guy behind me, because there is a really good chance he cannot stop as fast as me. I have to allow for that at changing red lights.

But yeah, screw those EVO guys!

I'd like to apologize for generalizing you into the admittedly small group of EVO and WRX drivers I've encountered over the years. You're honestly the first person that doesn't fit my particular prejudice.

HAHAHA! OK, that made me laugh out loud, such that I had to explain myself to my office mate.

Don't have to. I have white privilege.

Not really seeing any disagreement in your statement though...

You own an EVO or WRX. Do much rallying? Driven in Pike's Peak? Do you, as the "Bellend" in the video does, just bomb around town acting like you're the shit because you're going fast and getting decent gas mileage?
If you don't do any of that... you're a hipster. You completely wasted your money for "prestige". An EVO or WRX deserves to be driven. It's what they're designed for. At least the douchebag is getting close to using the tool properly.

It's like people who buy 1000cc twin turbo crotch rockets. Either they drive like retarded psychopaths, or they just like that people THINK they drive like retarded psychopaths.

Putting anything "race day" on the street without racing it is sad. Racing it on the street is stupid.

If -and I doubt it- you've actually purchased your vehicle, and you use it properly, congratulations, you're an exception. Nothing is black and white, but if you see one of those cars driving around town, it's a hipster or a douchebag behind the wheel, and you, as the exception, KNOW I'm right.

Apparently, just for owning one, I have been called a hipster and a douchebag. You don't even know me.

The very epitome of hipster driving.

I personally can't stand the way some locales actually ALLOW bikes to "lane split" or "filter". Everything about it just reeks. I do however enjoy when some Ken Block wannabe can't keep all four of his overpowered, all-wheel-drive should-be-simple-to-control-but-balls-are-bigger-than-brains econobox hipstermobile wheels on the road.

What are EVOs and WRSs?

As much as I would go bat shit insane driving in an area that allows "filtering" I have to say, I do enjoy when EVOs and WRXs get all fucked up.

Fucking douchebags.

These guys have LOTS of practice a much more expensive car than a stock WRX

I've tried going balls out in my WRX on some dirt and gravel roads up in the mountains on the way to a hike or a river or whatever and it just doesn't work. I don't know how these guys do it. Anything over 30 mph or so is nearly a death wish for me.
