I see hope in small ways and I see the desperation of the people trying to control the masses. Ie. the "leave it there" segment of the daily show recently. It ends with the gov't bullshitter telling the host when they should end the segment causing a momentary confusion. I see more and more of these "gaffes" as the rulers are loosing their previous careful tiptoe to 1984 style. I see hope in the constant lawsuits against police forces in various cities. I hope that I don't live to see a violent revolution but it is not far off. The rich few who would seek to rule by fear, conformity and complacency seem to be stupid enough to not give up before they are killed at the guillotine which makes me very sad since I have so much love for everyone even the horribly misguided ones.

Another interesting bit, what seems to get the skater throwing punches is when the gunman starts pointing the gun at the kid behind him as he's saying, "That your brutha'? (brother) Huh? That your brutha'?". Threatening someone else with the gun seems to be what causes the skater to snap.

edit- watching it again, actually he grabs the guy's wrist while the gun's no longer pointing at him. It's probably "do or die" at the point at not giving up control of the gun.

Heheh.. Well the summers are wonderful here. Nicest summer weather we've ever experienced.

When they keep coming in the house saying they have nothing to do. It's occurring to me that they're not pretending. Ever. I tell them to GO OUTSIDE, RUN, PLAY BALL, GET IN THE SPRINKLER, RIDE BIKES, MAKE UP GAMES, PRETEND, PLAY!!!!!

I've even bought them various balls, bats and the biggest water gun cannons I've ever seen. Really, I strapped one on and walked around the yard like Ripley approaching the Alien Queen. I just hope the kids doesn't repeat what I was saying. You know.. the "Get away from her you bitch" line. My hubby enjoyed it though

They all hang around wanting to come in play video games. They'll even mope about after I kick them back outside. I can't tell you how many times I've had to 'prime' their imaginations with a make believe scenario.

As long as they'll pick a videogame console instead of a game or a book, then I know I'm doing the right thing.

Winter will come and time for tv, videogames and warm snuggle blankets will return.

No, my husband will not give up the xbox. I guess we'll all get together for movies and/or guitar hero or something. But that's ok as a group I think. Not like the kids do when they're plugged in and zoned out alone in their rooms.
