I am well aware that your question was two years old. To clarify, I am better off (and happier) than I was 8 years ago, 10 years ago, or even 1 or 20.

There are millions of people on this planet who lead happy successful lives with seemingly no correlation to whether or not their political candidate of choice gets elected. I strive to be one of those people.
