The Ontario Police demonstrate trailer weight distribution

artician says...

This is a fantastic, really important experiment. The principle is immediately, visually demonstrable, and showing this to a lot of people could save a lot of lives!

Alien - H. R. Giger's Beautiful Monster

Jinx says...

I actually don't think it looks that dated at all. I mean yeah, you can tell it's an old movie, but yeah, it's still a visual treat to watch even now.

Giger was a true genius . If you have never seen Necronomicon or Necronomicon II, Google it - the art is awesome and so original! Have a look at the furniture he designed it's totally amazing.
ALIEN is a fantastic movie, although the tech looks a little dated now, but I love ALIENS - such a great movie, one of the few films I never get tired of watching!

Great video, thank you for sharing Mekanikal!
And thank you H.R. Giger for your wonderful imagination and skill. Rest in peace.

Mad Max: Fury Road - Raw

Mad Max: Fury Road - Raw

ChaosEngine says...

No, they don't.

Fury Road and The Force Awakens were probably the two most hyped "hey we're doing practical effects" movies of the last year or two and both have a tonne of CGI, it's just hard to see.

Practical effects are great for some stuff, but good CGI allows for things that are simply impossible with practical effects.

Both have their place.

Real effects always beat out cgi.

No Playing In the House

Babymech says...

This has to be the most easily faked viral video out there. No visual effects, just a convenient accidental recording and stock 'glass breaking' sound effect. I'm not going to pretend to be an internet detective and 'prove' that this is fake, but it seems so much more likely that it is fake than anything else. And of course the licensing contact info is right up in the description.

The Tech That Could Fix One of Wind Power's Biggest Problems

Drachen_Jager says...

That was my first thought as the problem this fixed. Because it's a solid cylinder visually, birds would be far less likely to get caught, rather than by the fast-moving blades of a normal turbine that chop through apparently clear sky.

Looks like it's more wildlife friendly too.

Kansas City police helicopter autorotates like a boss

SFOGuy says...

That would be AWESOME if he was. But in actuality---because of the tail rotor still spinning and then how the main rotor blades droop as they slow down (at just about the right height-with no visual profile end o- to chop someone driving a semi or a bus in half)---the entire helicopter is a rotating engine of death until everything comes to a halt...
Thus, the duck and run of people getting out from a chopper. And not duck and run towards the tail rotor specifically.

Quake Champions Quakecon 2016 Gameplay

jmd says...

First impressions is it is a visual update to the arena style FPS games we played and loved so many years ago.

Question is are enough people going to care? You have a half billions games just like it that you can buy for chicken feed or free even! Also back then if you were not a real good shot then you lived with not being high on the score table. These days many FPS games offer support roles for those who aren't the greatest shot, those people are not going to have any interest in coming BACK to the likes of quake multiplayer.

Zack Snyder Fundamenal Flaw(Batman v Superman) - Nerdwriter

cryptoz says...

it is a really strange universe and I dont like angry emotionally driven batman or meh to everything superman... wonder woman was dope. I wasn't "poo-poo" and turned it off but I also dont eagerly await the rest of the shows. It is visually worth watching to see comic book super hero use their powers.
