RIP Greg Lake

I just had to lay on the sofa tonight in the dark with some *quality earphones listening to my original vinyl copy of Brain Salad Surgery.

His name was Steve, and he did the Retro Request Show on Sunday nights. I went to a party at the Northern Hotel up in oldtown FoCo, and he rented one of the apts there. You got two free doses when you paid tho get in, and it was hella strong and I could not maintain around all sorts of people. He ended up babysitting me the rest of the night, and we entertained ourselves by digging through his vinyl. He let me come up to the studio while he did his show a few times. When McReynolds and I went to see Hole together after we broke up, and he ditched me for some ratchet chick he met that night. Steve helped me get even by getting me back stage to watch the show, and I got to chill with Drew Barrymore after. Damn, I miss KTCL, what the station used to be like until Clear Channel bought them out. What it is now is pretty depressing, right doll?

It's not a huge collection. Mainly 12" remixes and a few promotional ones. My treasure is three U2 4pack 7" vinyl. Consisting of early demos from "Boy" to my fav "The Unforgetable Fire". I have only seen one one eBay. A few of the tracks have never been offered on digital or on cd format. You are welcome. Post some more music. They never get many votes. I enjoy sharing music and always crave new sound.

Sure you do doll, since we are music twins!! I am so jealous you have them on vinyl!! I so want to "sift" through your collection, and would probably exclaim "Holy shit, no way!!" about a thousand times while doing so! As always, thanks for the promote and quality!!!

I had totally forgotten about these guys @enoch! A buddy of mine was a DJ at an independent radio station when I was in High School and would make me some of the best mix tapes ever, and this song was on one of them. Holy hell, brought back a lot of memories of flipping through milk crates full of vinyl.

The lyrics are amazing, and it seems very fitting for the times we are currently living, so I need to *promote this one for sure!!

I dunno. I'd get medieval on some fuck who dented MY tank. You know how much depleted uranium panels cost? Then you have to get them vinyl wrapped, which NEVER Goes on straight. ever went to war in a tank where the carbon fiber print is off of straight? Fucking embarrassing.

LOL I was going to say, "she doesn't.... " and then just stopped myself. "Oh yeah, vinyl couture, or... hefty bag." Haha.

Respect.

Still plenty of bands not only releasing albums but albums on vinyl!

I just spent $40 on the new Beastwars album* including a special edition vinyl pressing. The album comes with a download code. No reason you can't have best of both worlds.

I can't tell you if music objectively sounds better on vinyl. It might all be bullshit, but part of the experience of putting a record on a turntable makes it more enjoyable.

*which you should all buy because a) they're awesome, b) they're from NZ and c) their website is http://www.obeytheriff.com (probably the best URL ever)

Absolute worst part about MP3s is the death of the album.
You can't just sit down and listen to the album any more.
Everything is about the Single. A musician's music is best understood as a whole piece not just a sectional.
To this end, new songs being released these days are all about the short 3 minute song and leaves the listening experience behind.
I miss the album, the B-side, and the other songs that came with that one single.
