Carr Fire Vortex - Firenado

Tentnado

BSR says...

What a pleasure to watch a video that's steady, smooth and clear. Although it's vertical I think it works with what's going on. Kudos to the cameraman!

Great title also!

It's not hard one pitch at a time, able to rest at each anchor, climbing the thing in 2-3 hours. It's much harder doing it in one push where one mistake equals death. A 5.8 yosemite slab would be easier that this vertical route with roofs in it.

Sulfur Mound Fire

rich_magnet says...

But vertically, we could see the whole scope of the fire twisters.

Clearly Satan made them film this vertically, because it would have made much more sense to film it horizontally based on the spread out nature of the fire.

Austin gets lit

wtfcaniuse says...

This looks more like ground to cloud caused by the strike just before the vertically propagating "tree". Lookup videos of "Anvil crawlers" btw, they're amazing without having to be slowed.

Because that's what lightning usually does. Actually it goes both ways. A weaker charge goes cloud to ground and ionizes a pathway for a much larger charge to go up. Both the up and down stroke happen so fast your eyes usually perceive only the brighter upstroke. This video has been slowed down.

Container Ship Collision In Pakistan

Fairbs says...

are they like those logs that float vertically in lakes?

fuzzyundies said:

As a tall ship sailor, I'm horrified by events like this. I personally know a sailor whose ship sank at 2am in the Bay of Biscay, apparently holed by a partially submerged container. They're the modern-day version of icebergs except much harder to spot and they can occur ANYWHERE.

Hardly fake, methinks. Just a real nut job, so to speak.

I was less thinking of his ballbag and more of his thighs potentially landing square on top of the vertical bars and skewering his upper-legs something awful.

Russians doing sketchy sh*t

Payback says...

If this is from Russia, I think they're tourists. Russians don't use parachutes. They'd climb down that vertical cable using their balls.

Also, I think this cable set up is for catching low-flying aircraft trying to sneak, nap-of-earth, during the cold war. Either that or it's the World's most epic rope swing.
