Deray McKesson: Eloquent, Focused Smackdown of Wolf Blitzer

GenjiKilpatrick says...

Hey Lantern, why don't you tell us how "totally not racist" you are..

while claiming that black people are inherently violent, underachieving, thugs & savages.

Oh but wait, you "have a bi-racial relative" so you couldn't POSSIBLY be an unapologetic racist.

Nope, you just believe the first biracial president is "unamerican" because he spent 4 years as a child in -*gasp!* - a "foreign" country.

[You know, like how Republican Ted Cruz is a Cuban-Canadian with an untrustworthy racist father]

Or maybe you can tell us how the "black community" conspired to make certain that open racism and discrimination in EVERY facet of life was perfectly acceptable until the 1960s.

Pssh, seems EXTREMELY racist to still benefit from the enslavement of an entire group of people..
- not to mention the whole murdering & subjugating the indigenous population beforehand -
..then blame that group for not being able to "fix their own problems", doesn't it?

P.S. - It does. Because it is. Because you're a racist.

Just like my hispanic grandmother.. oh, and she has TWO bi-racial grandkids.

Hey Genji, why don't you tell us all the ways the white man has kept you down, has kept you from being a success? Then perhaps we can all begin to understand the oppression.

On the other hand, you can just call me a racist cracker.

Or, perhaps you can tell us what the white people can do to fix all the problems in the black community.

Hmmm, seems a little racist to assume that white people can do anything to fix the problems of black people, doesn't it?

The Patriot Act was intentionally put into place in a time of war and uncertainty. It should have been a much bigger deal at that time. I find it funny that the people who are so afraid that our guns are getting taken away had no outrage over this back when it was passed. So willing to give up their freedoms when a R is in office, cause if you don't you're unAmerican or have something to hide.

It's reminds me of the outrage over the embassy attack in Benghazi. That is such a big deal, but the 12 times embassies were attacked when bush was in office are not?

Democrat Voter Fraud (again)

shagen454 says...

I am sure this happens on both sides... a lot of people actually believe in the two party system enough to get their hands dirty.

But, I would be more suspicious of billionaires who can easily buy support, fraud and media influence to continue gauging the american citizenry. Not many progressive or left wing billionaires out there, not to say that democrats are left wing or progressive.... And if your company is making a billion in profit... chances are you/they are doing something undemocratic, unamerican and unethical like outsourcing labor or polluting/damaging ecosystems.

Heresy, QM, that is outright heresy. If the Islams (though most people, people who know what they're talking about, call them Muslims) had their way then how would we ever have a Wall Street? I'm reporting you to the committee on unamerican activities, you know, as soon as it get's formed... again...

Well, we know she's not a Loyal Democrat cause she's at a job or a vacation from a job.
I've been lucky never to have been burglarized. I understand--without really understanding--the feeling is that of being raped, violated. Maybe the islams really do have the right idea about what to do with thieves.

>> ^jcf79:
I guess from now on she should just give up her career, buy a gun, and wait for the next time someone tries to burglarize her, 'cause nothin' says republican like paranoia and over-reaction. And, just so you know, they prefer to be called Democratic Americans now...

No One in this Country Got Rich on His Own

bamdrew says...

Agreed that this is how it FEELS, primarily because everyone is familiar with the 'marginal tax rate' in which more income moves you up to a higher bracket.

This is also a very easy story to tell, and wealthier people are effectively 'louder' than poorer people.

In reality, the U.S. government incentivizes investment with lower taxation... Netrunner mentioned this as lower taxes on capital gains, meaning money you make from simply investing is not taxed as much as money you make from actually working; wealthy people take full advantage of this, to-be-sure, and this incentive does drive investment.

One-thing-to-add; although the non-wealthy are individually less able to invest, the capital gains tax is also tiered into brackets, just like the income tax, so that if you are in the lowest income bracket you pay 0% of any "long-term" investment income in capital gains taxes (in 2011). Obviously though its hard for people scraping by to feel confident enough in their financial position to take advantage of this.

That a real American President likes only America, and no other countries?
No – a real American President can like other countries, but has to like America more.

What gives you the idea that Obama likes America less than other countries? You can say that about ANYBODY if you never have to back it up with more than "because I think so". You mentioned him "insulting" Ryan by calling his plan "unamerican", well if calling someones plan unamerican is an insult, then what the hell is this then??
>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:

and what about all that fanatical secrecy in hiding his past
All the Bush stuff does nothing but prove my point. There was enough shady stuff in Bush’s past for conspiracy theorists to hang a hat on. Obama is 10X worse.

How? Is there any specifics here, what exactly do you think he did that was so dark and secret? is there any evidence? is there any evidence of some cover-up? Is there ANYTHING but your own imagination? what spurred that imagination then? This is all baseless bullshit youre throwing out there, and speaking of baseless bullshit, tell me again when Obama said or expressed how great Amadinejad is.. Oh wait, you didnt the first time. Just like you couldn't back up any of your other claims.

Brithers disproved yet again (Politics Talk Post)

Crosswords says...

@blankfist, you're right, I can't prove racism is the motive. However given what I've posted and what Dag has said, I highly suspect racism is why this issue continues to persist despite, what I would call, overwhelming evidence that he is in fact a natural citizen.

To my knowledge no other past president has had their origin of birth subjected to this much public scrutiny. Even after he has released those documents in the most official form allowed by Hawaiian law, and had officials validate the original forms, it still persists. This 'issue' first came up during the election, McCain, as Dag pointed out, despite having similar issue that could call into question his citizenship was not subject to this.

"Then what are they complaining about?"
What indeed. As I mentioned in another post, he's got a Muslim name, he's black, and he grew up in culturally diverse environments very different from what many Americans are used to. To them, this makes him unAmerican and believing he was born in Kenya validates that view. Regardless of truth, these prejudices are being used to generate support for opposing parties.

And yes, the reasons I'm giving as to why this issue persists beyond a reasonable point is speculation, but I don't think that speculation is unfounded.
