Canada Lynx Saved From Trap

newtboy says...

I find it disgusting and outrageous that people are still allowed to use this kind of indiscriminate trapping these days at all. There's no way to keep endangered, or unwanted animals from being killed or injured to the point where they'll likely die later.
I would like to think I would destroy any I found, and/or use them on the trapper if I found them, leaving them pinned in the forest with both arms and legs attached to separate trees in hopes that the animal they were going for finds them and has a nice treat.
Just sickening. I hope at least this one animal didn't die a horrendous, painful, long, torturous death by starvation, but with the injured leg, it still may have.

Americapox: The Missing Plague

The American buffalo (Bison bison) is also commonly known as the American buffalo. Same for the European bison (Bison bonasus). From wikipedia:

The term "buffalo" is sometimes considered to be a misnomer for this animal, and could be confused with two "true buffalo", the Asian water buffalo and the African buffalo. However, "bison" is a Greek word meaning ox-like animal, while "buffalo" originated with the French fur trappers who called these massive beasts bœufs, meaning ox or bullock—so both names, "bison" and "buffalo", have a similar meaning. The name "buffalo" is listed in many dictionaries as an acceptable name for American buffalo or bison.

I'm surprised at Grey. There are no buffalo in America (the continent). Those are Bison.

Can't imagine not using everything possible from a beaver-So many pelts were used for winter gear with that rodent that some trapper probably figured that one out all alone, near a frozen river.....Nom, nom, nom.

These are great, especially if you're squeamish about the release like this guy.

I don't like the new traps with that plastic fake cheese pressure plate. The older style small metal strip got the little bastards lined up in the middle of the trap better, had fewer "sprung trap, no mouse" incidents, and seemed to have a better hair-trigger.

Big Bang Theory minus laugh track

videosiftbannedme says...

I picked up the M*A*S*H complete box set a while back and they had a nice feature that let you watch the show with or without laugh track enabled. It was much more human and sobering watching it sans laugh track; when Trapper or Hawkeye would crack a joke, especially in the operating room, the whole dynamic was different.

Health Insurance Company Sues Maine To Guarantee Profit

dirtythirtyix says...

Insurance companies are in the business of redistributing wealth.

...let that sink in a little.

The problem is, they take huge chunks off the top, because they're for-profit, and CEO's need gold waterbeds just like everyone else...and since they are also in the business of gambling, they need to stack the deck by lobbying for house-friendly legislation, which also costs.

Therefore, they need alot more of your wealth, so they can redistribute it when necessary, and still afford to go on safari and get platinum-plated trapper-keepers for their kids.

Does it make sense to pay for all that overhead because you think it's your choice? Sounds like foolishness...if only there were another option....

oh shit... I so remember this...

NKOTB's rise to fame was a defining moment for me in the 1st grade, it was then that I realized that I was just not like everyone else, because honestly, I couldn't understand what the big deal was, and I was the only girl without a New Kids trapper keeper.
