RT -- Chris Hedges on Media, Russia and Intelligence

newtboy says...

Here's the rub....
Shep Smith on Fox does some good work, and also some awful work for his propagandist bosses either spreading their lies or remaining silent in their face.
Maddow on MSNBC also does some good work, and also is incredibly biased and slanted and gladly omits or glosses over important facts if they don't fit her narrative.
CNN-I honestly don't know, I don't watch them either, but I gather they are also quite biased and guilty of lies by omission.

Hedges had other options. He was not relegated to RT, he chose to work there. Granted, they may be his most profitable option, they are not his only option.

Is RT a Russian propaganda channel, yes, absolutely. Does that mean Hedges is a Russian propagandist...yes, yes it does. He doesn't have to spread their lies and tow their line to be one, just his presence as an attempt to give their propaganda machine validity means he's a valuable tool they are using to spread lies. Let's see him do a story that accuses Putin or Russia of malfeasance....won't happen. That makes him a tool, even if he never lies for them.

Eroding Electoral Confidence | Full Frontal with Samantha Be

@bobknight33
you realize chaos is from new zealand right?
so while the democratic party may be a disgrace, unless the party is GLOBAL,it certainly is not HIS party.

i truly do not understand your (or anybodies for that matter) continued loyalty to this broken, dysfunctional and utterly corrupt two party dictatorship.

i have no issue with you pointing out the rot that has been bleeding out the democratic parties metaphorical ass.during this election cycle the DNC was caught with their hand in the cookie jar.they were exposed as the rotten and corrupt institution we all had suspected, but couldn't prove, rigging the primaries, changing the rules of application to keep people off the primary ballot (laurence lessig),and crushing one of the most promising, and politically energized campaigns by bernie sanders.(who, just like ron paul, raised his war chest on small donations).

hell, even the recent jill stein voter recount exposed even MORE DNC voter manipulations and fraud!

but are you SERIOUSLY going to sit there, and with a straight face, attempt to make the case the republicans are better?

that they are NOT just as vile, rapacious and corrupt as the democrats?

you think the democrats are the ONLY half of this two party duopoly that engages in voter fraud?
see:crosscheck
or crushes any politician that does not tow the party line?
see:ron paul

can you REALLY,without any sense of irony or sarcasm, tell me that the republican party represents YOU?

the one thing that has given me hope during this past presidential election is that my fellow americans seem to finally be getting it,finally understanding that neither the democratic party nor the republican party represent "we the people".

they represent:wall street, big banks, the military industrial complex and multi-national corporations.

and of course....their own continued power and political domination.

binary politics does not work anymore.
this false left/right dichotomy does not work anymore.
this "lesser of two evils" is no longer acceptable..any...more.

but i gather it still works for you bob.
what a waste..
you seem a decent sort, but to continue to identify with a party that has thrown you overboard decades ago....is just sad.

and i guess you will be just like those obama voters who became disturbingly silent while obama:expanded executive powers,NDAA of 2012,zero indictments to the criminals on wall street, prosecuting more whistleblowers than any other president combined, obamacare(the biggest gimme to the health insurance industry and big pharma),assasination programs, kill lists, expanding military operations into 6 other sovereign countries, regime change in libya...

those little pussies became good little apologists, and it appears YOU ...
bob..
will become a good little pussy and do your partisan duty, and turn into a dutiful little apologist for trump and the inevitable atrocities that are most certainly heading our way.

you know,i do not always agree with chaos, but at least he has BALLS.he stands for something.
you are just rooting for a certain team, might as well be rooting for the packers.
it is just so tired and WEAK...

eh..maybe you are just messing with chaos, but if that is the case, could you bring a little more flair and energy?
your technique is a tad..stale.

so step it up BOB!
your putting the audience to sleep.

California Cops Lose It Over a Drone

newtboy says...

A better title might be 'cops bend over and lube up for Harris feed lot owners'. They didn't come out for the drone, they came out in force because the feed lot owners/managers asked them to....over nothing....at least twice.
Fresno police better not EVER claim they are overworked or that there are too few police. If they can come out in such numbers twice for possible trespass in the countryside on public land, they either have way too many officers there with nothing to do, or they are so incompetent that they ignored actual crimes to cow tow to a major local employer. Either case should lead to firings.

Javelin Missile Fails - 246K Each

With terrorism upon us, how do you get rid of a suspect car?

eric3579 says...

You think its due to terrorism? I would guess it's due to the mess that becomes the front of a terminal when people think its okay to leave their cars parked for some period of time. The congestion that creates is horrible. A loading/unloading zone in front of a terminal is usually crazy busy. Anyone leaving a car parked deserves to be towed as it makes a mess of the dropping off and picking up of airline passengers.

I do however love how quickly that tow truck removes cars. I bet this is much more effective (deterrent and cost) than having hired officers standing around telling you/ or ticketing your car for the violation.

Sportscaster Talks Dallas Police Shooting And Police Abuse

kir_mokum says...

this is exactly why there will be no learning or awareness gained from this tragedy. you are either "defending a "terrorist"" [not your words, but it is a prevailing part of the public narrative] or you're towing the party line and making sure nothing changes.

i'm not defending the killing of anyone but i am trying to understand why. i'm trying to consider the context and internal logic that drove someone to do this. this made sense to him and we should try to understand why. and honestly, this type of desperate, damaging, and explosive reaction isn't surprising to me considering recent events, the coverage and public reaction to those events, and the categorical inaction that follows.

it is possible to empathize without endorsing the actions.

Shepppard said:

..Because it's NOT.

There is NEVER a legitimate reason for a mass shooting of ANYONE.

Seriously, I'm not entirely sure if you're defending the guy who shot at 11 cops, killing at least 4. But it sure as hell sounds like it.

However, lets take the word "Cops" outta there. The guy who shot 11, killing at least 4. Doesn't matter what the hell is wrong with you. Murder is NEVER the damn solution.

Microburst Event Causes Planes to Take Off

Babymech says...

From a reddit (fwtw) on the topic :

"I'm very curious as to how you got this video, i was under the impression it never left the airfield.
This happened in April 2014, this past year. The weather is absolute crap here, especially for soaring. Well... we get good weather sometimes. Anyway, it's not uncommon for those TG-16A's to go up with a 25 knot gust... But i digress.
The cadets were pushing in because winds were out of limits and the weather was getting worse... and BAM! Microburst.
This microburst hit right next to the airfield. The tower spotted it early, gave a verbal warning "look out..." and cadets are trained to do the following: grab a wing (glider) and turn broadside into the wind and put the spoilers out. The tows were not so easy... nor lucky. Their takeoff speed is about 50 knots, and none of them were powered up when they lifted off the ground, to give you an idea of how bad the wind was. Their only maneuver is to face into the wind and pray they dont actually take off. The tows that took off left for COS airport... it took another 30 minutes of holding gliders before the tower let the cadets start moving the gliders.
As for taking off... 55 kt gusts are the highest the Academy has had in a long time. Considering there were a half-dozen other aircraft within 100 ft of the tows, along with people (i.e. cadets around/in the gliders) if he was moving too far from his position in the queue, the safest action is to get some altitude and try and leave the microburst. Or at the very least put some altitude and distance in between himself and the cadets and aircraft. You saw how slow the tows in the air were moving relative to the ground... those were HARSH winds.
At about 0:20, you can see a cadet hanging onto the wing of a glider on the bottom of a screen. This wind was scary. I don't know if anyone was up at the time, but full tempo ops can be up to 5 tows and 8 gliders... on a standard afternoon training day 3 tows and 4 or 5 gliders is normal. It looks like they were already pushing the gliders to the hangar..."

eric3579 said:

So are there pilots in any of those tow planes?
(edit)
The little i could find seems to indicate the planes had pilots.

John Oliver: Primaries and Caucuses

newtboy says...

I don't expect Clinton to give up. It would be nice, but I think there is a <0.00001% chance of that happening. What I do expect is for her to go to the convention and debate about which is the better candidate in the current climate. I think that answer is clear, and if the process was fair that would be what's happening...I still have hope that it will...at least until June 7th.
I lose it when I hear that 'it's over', which Clinton has said for months now, now from Sanders supporters before it's really over.
I'm sorry if I offended in any way.

I'm also upset when independents are expected to tow a party line of a party that they don't belong to and that excluded them in large part, or be blamed for the outcome. Since Sanders brings so many new people to the party that otherwise wouldn't vote Democrat should NEVER be a negative for him only a positive, and that blame game is an attempt to do just that, paint them and him negatively.

I sure hope he does win California big and turns it all around, or at least wins the convention.

Help me Bernie Wan, you're my only hope.

You're right. I didn't say -- like I have been saying for weeks -- that IF IF IF Hillary gets the nomination, please vote for her.

I'll say it again. Get your 65% for Sanders in the next primaries and WIN THE NOMINATION.

But asking Clinton to give up? Because you say so? Because you want it?

That is pie in the sky thinking. Wishful thinking. And on what planet would that possibly happen thinking?

Win the primaries. Go for it.

I'll vote for Sanders.

Giving birth costs a lot. Hospitals won't tell you how much.

Payback says...

To be fair, by it's very nature, the Medical Industry should NOT get to the point where "Procedure A will cost you $______" or be subject to solid quotes. Most of the things you purchase that way, cars, houses, TVs, etc. are high-volume testaments to physics and industrial chemistry. When you're talking about something as fragile and complex as a human body, this isn't the way to go. If your alternator goes bad, you get towed into the shop and get a new one. If your appendectomy goes wrong, you could die or be affected for the rest of your life.

Equating medicine with consumer purchases is ridiculous and idiotic.

That being said, yes, your medical system needs serious work.

Donald Trump’s message is violent to its core

Payback says...

I'd agree, but every time a President gets into office, no matter WHAT they've promised, no matter WHAT is technically possible for a president to do, they all get pulled back to within spitting distance of what "The Money" says to do.

President Donald Trump MIGHT have a bunch of money, he MIGHT technically be able to choose what he wants, but when "The Money" tells him that it's going to ruin him because he has no control over HIS money as president, he'll tow the line just like everyone else. He won't be any better, worse, effective or ineffective than any other president.

Hell, I doubt Sanders would be able to do anything, either.

Your country needs another revolution. It's not England this time, you've seen the enemy, and he is you.

Cop Maces Bikers As They Ride By On The Freeway

Krupo says...

Yeah, Ontario has the rule now too, implemented a couple of years ago, but for a specific reason: there was apparently an idiotic game some big rigs drivers would play, trying to knock off an officer's hat with their side mirror. With predictably horrible results.

To avoid the lame defense that it was an oopsie, drivers are not forced to vacate the lane.

It was extended to cover all emergency vehicles and tow trucks last year too IIRC.

And I did actually see a woman get pulled over by a cop for buzzing by in the right lane - that, of course, is the appropriate response, rather than a ridiculous pepper spray attack. Wow.

Mordhaus said:

I think they were referring to this portion:

(1) vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle when driving on a highway with two or more lanes traveling in the direction of the emergency vehicle

However, I can tell you that on a stopped police car, I have never seen someone follow this rule in Texas and I've been driving here since 1989. I would also add that the penalty for breaking this law is a misdemeanor, it doesn't specify in the statute that the officer should use a weapon on the drivers that might cause them to wreck and create havoc.

It's OK, we have a big truck and we can get you out...

poolcleaner says...

I was completely screwed over by a tow truck driver in California. Car was on its side but still in working order, but instead of turning it back onto its wheels, they dropped it on the hood, dragged it to its death along the pavement and onto the back of the truck, then claimed it was totaled.

Don't think this is a Russian only problem. I have seen and heard of plenty of stupid towing stuff here in North America.

You have to attach to the main frame, and nothing else. Not bumpers, not axles, not nose/tail sub-frames. The pros can wheel tow because they have the right equipment and know what they are doing.

My aunt almost had her bumper ripped off when someone tried to pull her out of a snow bank. Another person stopped and checked what they had attached to and told them to move it to the frame.

There is also that classic video of the guy getting his entire rear bumper and trunk ripped off his Cavalier when not only did they attach it wrong, the had slack in the tow cable and just gunned it.
