McCain on Torture: 'The Very Idea Of America' Is At Stake

kaztheberserk says...

No, it's "towed", as in what a tow truck does, not "toed" as in tip-toes. The way he's using it is to say that McCain was the face of the movement within the party. The way you've interpreted it would mean that he was being very prudent not to go quite too far. I believe you are mistaken in your interpretation, sir.

Cop was suspended... at least. yay

It's a very small step... but probably didn't even lose any pay. Is there another profession on the PLANET where you wouldn't immediately be fire let alone have the police called and be arrested for if you did this?... i mean... ok Professional Wrestler... Professional Hockey Player... but what about the other 99.9% of us... NO WAY... we're already in jail if thats us.... Oh yeah... thats right... and f'n cop!

Suspended = pay loss. So I am not sure how you question whether it means no pay loss? Now, if you meant salary reduction, that's different.

And other professions? Hundreds, just for your info. Let's go over just a few shall we? Tow Truck driver, athletes of all kinds, movie stars, Broadway actors, music stars, repo-men, politicians, Soldiers, Marines, Air Men, Sea Men, farm hands, truck drivers, fishermen, etc.

Additionally, jobs like Walmart, Sears, Target, Sheets, etc. don't really fire you because you can just quit, and by next week you can have another job at any other low paying job (For example, you get fired from Walmart, just go to work for McDonald's.)

Don't Park Illegally In Russia

RFlagg says...

I don't think I hardly ever used the parking brake, even with the manual transmission I had on a couple occasions. If you are on a flat surface why engage the e-brake unless you are in one of those odd areas that require it by law. I say hardly ever as on at least one car I knew the e-brake was useless as the cable was stretched and wouldn't engage so I must have tried it at least on that one on an occasion (perhaps parking on a hill with a manual transmission, though being in gear and wheels turned should be enough). Riding with other people I don't think I have ever seen them engage the e-brake either. A better question would be who doesn't put the car in park or in gear?
I agree though this isn't a tow truck pulling illegally parked cars, likely insurance writeoffs as Payback said, or test mule dumps as this is clearly a crane pulling cars that could easily be accessed by a regular tow truck. Of course even with those two situations, why use a crane on site and not a regular tow truck to take it to the yard unless you need to render undrivable onsite?

Who parks their car without the hand brake on?! No one, that's who. FAKE

The tow truck would of have/should of have had Tire chalks, he could of have put those in place and used his winch to pull the front end loader. And yes they have chalks for mud and snow, they grip into the snow/ice/mud like fish hook barbs, and resist the truck from being pulled backwards via the winch.

Well my first thought being that driver wouldn't be to call a tow truck to unstick something like that. You usually use something like that to unstick a truck. I can't fathom that they wouldn't contact another clearing vehicle they have probably a couple blocks away to clear a path to the guy if he couldn't wiggle himself out in the meantime. It's not like they wasting much effort if they are clearing roads that need cleared in the process to dig out a stuck machine.

Plus, and maybe Im missing something, but it seems like you'd want to clear a good starting point and work your way from there instead of just blindly driving through the snow in an effort to clear faster.....while not really clearing it at all if you can't drive big ass machinery through it without getting stuck.

You'd think they'd have a shovel somewhere on that tow truck, or could borrow one from somebody...

I've dug out my share of tires (and made tire paths) before... not fun, but better than filling out paperwork.

Man Pays Impound Fee With Pennies

How so? For towing people that are parked where they shouldn't be parked? People just need someone to blame when they take a gamble on parking somewhere they aren't supposed to and get caught.

Tow truck drivers are thieves and should get every bit of shit they deserve legally.
