Lucky To Be Alive Tow Truck Driver In Norway

Babymech says...

It looks likely by the way that the landscape is flowing and occasionally changing size that they used Youtube's built-in function to reduce shakiness...

Nice camera action.

Yeah really... I doubt they had a dolly, so I'm thinking post-production stabilization.

Broked down car and assholes (Talks Talk Post)

Kreegath says...

I would never allow a stranger into my car, and while it's terrible that a situation can arise where you can't lend a helping hand to a stranger in need in fear for your own safety, that's the reality for most of us. If someone had their car break down and asked me for help, the least (and incidentally the most) I would do is help arrange for a tow truck. If you did stop, offer a lift and get robbed, everyone would say that you have nobody to blame but yourself, that it's common sense not to pick up strangers on the road at night. Hitchhiker criminals have ruined it for everyone.

7-tow trucks are not as expensive as you think they might be
8-tow truck dispatchers have a great sense of humour
9-Rcmp help desk is not very helpful and fairly condescending when asking questions about legality of broken down vehicles.

Icy Steet in Utah

Porksandwich says...

Tow truck drivers wet dream. All accidents, all police ordered..police rates.

Hey guys, the roads are bad, let's stand in them and be shocked when people almost run us down right next to where we just crashed. What could go wrong!

How Seattle Gets Buses Uphill in Snow

Porksandwich says...

They salt steep slick hills around here by backing up them and turning their salter on high, so they can use the grit for traction and have it melt through the snow as they back their way up. I thought this was a little dangerous since you might be backing up when a dumby starts trying to come down it....but it's what they gotta do.

This video seems like a bad accident waiting to happen, since tow truck probably can't see anything during this whole push.

Car Towing Truck Has Close Call

HugeJerk says...

It had to have been strapped down for it to have not left the trailer. It looked like it may have been an off-road truck like they run in the Dakar Rally... and instead of strapping it down by the frame and compressing the suspension, they strapped the wheels or only the front which allowed it a lot of movement.>> ^MarineGunrock:

Why the fuck wasn't that thing strapped down!?!?

Found an job that really compliments his personality.

I don't really think of tow truck driver as a high energy, pulse-quickening job, but there it was for us to see.

McCain on Torture: 'The Very Idea Of America' Is At Stake

NetRunner says...

>> ^kaztheberserk:

No, it's "towed", as in what a tow truck does, not "toed" as in tip-toes. The way he's using it is to say that McCain was the face of the movement within the party. The way you've interpreted it would mean that he was being very prudent not to go quite too far. I believe you are mistaken in your interpretation, sir.

Nope, Boise was right, I was wrong:

It's about lining up with your group, with your toes on the same line. I've always figured it was some sort of obscure fishing metaphor (everyone pulling on the same "line").
