Chaos. Cops around these parts make about 46K to start, then max at 65K. That is without promotions. Lts. or above easily make 110K. If you make rank of command staff it is free health benefits for life. The benefits a cop has, while not free, are decent. And this isn't even the biggest area or highest paying city around here. From what I can tell this cop was making 55K, he was almost halfway to a decent retirement and had good benefits. (Really great pay if you ask me.)

Next to answer you art. Examples can be speculation. There is no inherent problem with this. Here is a real situation. A cop shoots an unarmed man on the ground. Murder? Well, possibly. Problem is his tazer was on the hip side that the gun was. In the heat of the moment he could have reasonably grabbed it and got ready to use it. That was his claim. Bam. Sad, yes. Murder? Proving that would be difficult. Manslaughter? Depends. Some States say no in a moment of adrenaline (For everyone btw.) But the outrage was enormous.

Pepper spray usually has a safety, like a lift tab that you must move to get access to the depress button. But tazers typically do not since they are less than lethal force (You must access them quickly goes the logic.)

That is why law enforcement has to be careful--or it's a billion dollar lawsuit and their jobs if their finger slips. I wonder if this news crew can sue for emotional distress? Because they sure shit themselves

Unfortunately, so many large cities (like artician here points out) have so many cops off the chain that this has become common-place thanks in large part to homeland security upgrades to civil liberties post 9-11. The shit is broken, and uniformed thugs are given free reign to smash skulls and destroy lives by turning humans into recycling by placing their names into the NET as "felons" or "suspicious" or "terrorist"

Note to the computer chair enthusiasts (oh, and members of Videosift who are law enforcement or former law enforcement??) who have the loop running constantly in their minds when they see something like this video that belches, "Well, if they weren't breaking the law" or, "cops were just doing their job" etc., yer fucking out of touch with the reality that is being created for you while you SLEEP, or, yer simply out-of-touch cunts who are still in the "good-ole-boys" club of the mind.

All these cops should be suspended without pay and crucified. Period. Don't care if the suspect was a fucking dead baby-skull rapist, these cops used extreme force to subdue and otherwise KILL this guy.

What you are witnessing is state-sanctioned attempted murder by a gang of thugs iwth ill-fitting uniforms and too many lethal toys. Petty, fucking thugs who need to be separated from the rest of the human population. Especially that fat piece of shit with the tazer...the thug with the club needs his own cell..The hotbox in solitary for about a year would be perfect.

Seriously man, haven't you learned anything from recent history? Successful revolutions aren't won with AR-15s, they're won by crowds to big to tazer and imprison. Strength in numbers, not caliber.

I don't really get this whole tazer deal.
2 older gentlemen on the heavy side guarding a door. Seriously you needed a taser? Seems to me these guys are just not fit for the position.

I work with a few security guards downtown that deal with all sorts of drug addicts, drunks, crazy people and outright idiots. They aren't issued anything.
I hear stories of them wrestling guys to the ground almost every week.

A) He was there for something simple, like a traffic ticket.

B) He was a total prick, douchebag, asshole and completely uncooperative.

C) Cameras ARE NOT PERMITTED inside courtrooms for PRIVACY. Dumbass award again. He thinks he can waltz in and violate everyone's privacy and harass another person because he has "rights"?

D) The officer didn't express ANY type of abuse whatsoever. If you think he did, sorry, but you might want to reconsider who's been brainwashed.

The officer had a choice: potentially violent altercation with a young man in a confined space where others could potentially be injured, or tazer him. If you think the officer is wrong for not allowing this to escalate and potentially injure others, then you really need to reassess your concept of police control and abuse of power.

The officer told the douchebag calmly, and concisely, that he was NOT permitted to pass that point with the video camera. The douchebag tried to push his way through, and surprisingly, the officer DID HIS JOB and kept the man from entering WITHOUT using excessive force.

Unless, of course, you think an officer touching a person who claims to NOT be a US Citizen is abuse. The douchebag began escalating the situation further until, well, I'm sure his biggest worry now isn't simply a speeding ticket anymore but a list of actual 1st Degree Misdemeanors and possibly a Felony.

So yes, I AM PERFECTLY FINE with the officer's use of a tazer to restrain the individual. And the reason I am, is thankfully the douchebag was recording it and we now have proof of who was in the wrong.

I'm guessing it's because if someone asked me to go up to someone and tackle them, then arrest them without their consent and they're going to fight back, or tazer them, let them fall then arrest them without a fight I'd choose the latter. Yes, I'm lazy.

So the moral of the story is, they decided that tazering people is the same as tackling them.
