Robin Williams Talking About Getting Owned in COD

joe2 says...

all talk show hosts are sycophants generally, except occasionally david letterman

fallon always rubbed me the wrong way. he was terrible on SNL. i don't know how he got his own show when there are so many incredibly talented people available. he must be someone's nephew

Rep. Alan Grayson's Apology To Republicans

thepinky says...

I always kind of hoped that the elected officials would sound more intelligent, be more informative, and make better points than the everyday radio talk show host. He didn't need to apologize for his bizarre little gag. He needed to grow a pair and say something of worth. It isn't comforting to me that the reps are bickering like children instead of trying to find a solution that works.

Bill Maher: New Rules - September 25, 2009

geo321 says...

I hate to say this... and this is a total guestimate, but it seems that at least 10% of the US population are a combination of religious fundamentalist and uneducated, and therefore highly susceptible to absorbing then spewing out any directions from corporate lobbyists and inflammatory talk show hosts without knowing what their slogans or soundbites mean within the context of reality. So why concede to this vocal and irrational minority?

Congressman Yells "Liar" At Obama During Health Care Speech

Nithern says...

Once one removes 'fear' and 'racism' from conservative playbooks, one removes 90% of what conservatives have to talk about. Mr. Pennypacker and Mr. Quantumushroom are easy examples of this concept. Last night, we say a republican unconscously lash out to the president, on something that was not true to begin with. The individual in question, has since asked for an apology. Most likely threaten by his congressional superiors, since no one seemed to come to his side. Even though THIS, is the subject they seem to promote in the conservative styled ads on tv, and the talk show hosts.

Two thumbs up to Diogenes for putting up the information.

And yes, Mr. Bush lied about a great number of things. Back in 1999, then Gov. Bush of Texas was saying 'as president, I will not conduct nation building on foreign soil'. Yeah, we all know that was a lie. And the one in 2003, about promoting fair and honest business trade, was over shadowed when he had the leading energy giants together, behind closed doors and off the record, to talk about the energy crisis at the time. Finally, my personal favorite: WMDs. Maybe Mr. Pennypacker or Mr. Quantumushroom could point out to us all those weapons of mass destruction we were suppose to find in Iraq. You know, the 'massive stockpiles' of 'WMDs', like nuclear warheads we (the USA) accussed Saddam of having? Yeah, defend Bush, go ahead, I dare you.

Immediately after the President gave his speak, a Republican rebutal was made. This idiot said, Republicans are ready to come to the table in a biparistan fashion, to work on health care reform. I say "To bad", they had their chance, and just like with EVERYTHING else they have had to deal with in the last two decades, they pissed away opportunity to serve the public good. They had their chance, and they blew it off, and NOW, they get to pay for it.

The President has some really good ideas. He explains them as a professor would on an issue. He uses education, decency, patience, and fairness. Its to bad his Republican opponents behave like children so often. But then again, are we to expect Republicans behaving any other way anymore?

TDS - Jon Stewart interview with Betsy McCaughey (part 2)

brycewi19 says...

Yes, I'm AMAZED as to how well he holds it together.

Even though she's a loon, the best way to combat that is with tactful logic. Getting in to a shouting match (as many talk show hosts like to do) helps bring the argument down to the credibility of the arguer rather than the credibility of the argument.

And Jon keeps his conversations from breaking down to that point better than anyone!

Talk Show Host Very Interested In Manslaughter Law Loopholes

I agree, but the last question he asked seemed out of place. Maybe he should have brought up the type of car and whether that would have an impact on the prosecutor.
Or, the question for the hacksaw was related to the miracle that befell those fireman. Maybe someone used it to sever the lines? There might be a good Samaritan in that story.

McCain Calls Out "Extreme Talk Show Hosts"

McCain Calls Out "Extreme Talk Show Hosts"

jiyanibi says...

Oh no, McCain may not agree with torture, but he's still trying to appease Republicans here. The "extreme talk show host" isn't the one some of us are thinking here. And even if he were slamming Rush, he'd have to apologize within a day or so any way. http://www.dccc.org/content/sorry

It was Ed Schultz of the new Ed Show on MSNBC (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/23/ed-schultzcheney-wants-th_n_190703.html). Was Ed right? Personally, I think Cheney thinks more about his own success and the success of the Republican party than he does the whole of the American people, so...

Obama's Arab Tendencies Allow Live Birth Abortions.

longde says...

I would downvote this because what is the point of this video? Debating reality with this woman is like kicking a wounded animal.

We know there are millions of ignorant hicks who believe Obama is the antichrist. We know there are talk show hosts and wingnut organizations that exploit this ignorant mob. What new insight does the blogger bring?

She doesn't have the mental faculties to change her mind, and doesn't have a logical foundation to sift fact from fiction from opinion. So, give it a rest, blogger interrupted.

Jon Stewart is angry at Rick Santelli and CNBC

9364 says...

Yes John Stewart is a talk show host, if you expect more then that, your expecting to much. He does a good job of showing the flip side of things, such as this video.

I'd have to agree with him on that last point. F You, to all the big corporate scumbags who care more about their wallet and their shareholders then the well being of the worlds economy.

This isn't a US issue or a British issue or any other national issue. Today's market is a world market. When asshats like this guy pull their stunts, they aren't hurting just one country, but every 1st world country.

And the guy above me is correct as well that people need to stop living beyond their means. This is something that started in the 80's and just kept rolling on to the troubles we have today. But to suggest it's only Americans who have done this is absurd. There's no denying that it was a trend we started, with our country being nearly wholly consumption based, but the trend has since spread, known as 'the American lifestyle' around the world.

People have idolized the rich and stupid for to many years now while spending $500 on a purse instead of paying their bills, running up thousands in debt through credit cards etc. The so called 'greatest generation' has a lesson to teach on wise spending and saving and I hope that if this crisis does anything, it does just that.

But note that big business is behind even that. For three generations now corporations have pushed spending as a lifestyle. You cant go anywhere, even in your own home without being inundated with messages (most in the form of the commercial,) to spend, spend and spend so that 1% gets richer and richer. Eventually that was going to spiral down and it finally has. I just hope, as I said above, the lesson is learned or it will just happen again.

Jon Stewart is angry at Rick Santelli and CNBC

>> ^campionidelmondo: Oh and I'm fed up with the glorification of the Daily Show. Jon Steward is nothing more than a jester, he's only here to make jokes. He's not gonna change anything, yet people are so glad he's here and won't let people get away with anything. People should turn off their TVs and support a real voice of descent.

Then don't watch the show.

Jon Stewart is a comedian first. TDS is a comedy show. It's aired on Comedy Central. It's goal is to make people laugh. He and his crew do a great job at it. Even when he has someone serious on it he still tries to make jokes. If you look at him as being just a talk show host then you miss the point of the show.

As a side effect his show enlightens people because it shows a view of current events that the news media does not. He shows the truth of a subject matter (except for the "special reports") and then makes fun of it. Because of this formula his show has gained a lot of notoriety and credibility with many people.
