Prayer bead attachment for the Wii

spoco2 says...

It so saddens me that so many sites posted this as genuine... I mean really... GAH! Critical thinking has died on the internet, it's a sad, sad world.

This is quite funny, that people would ever believe it was real isn't.

(Really, how many tip offs do people need in order to work it out? The lack of any synchronisation between the kids and the on screen things, the lack of any actual appreciable gameplay that kids would want to partake in, the cover that slips over the whole wiimote that stops you actually being able to use the buttons, the mentioning of expansion packs before it's even out (they always wait a while for that), the ridiculous stool add ons that work as something funny, but would never be sold as an accessory... and... well, the 'prayer works interactive'... they don't have a website, they would have if this were real).

*sigh*

Balancing rocks

dannym3141 says...

It's fake, he does it like derren brown did the national lottery prediction.

See he's using a 16-way split screen with 16 guys holding the rocks but each image overlaps to cover where the hands are. The only difficult bit was how he managed to get the randomised waves in each of the 16 segments to sync up to make a natural looking sea/lake.

Nice try bill dan, but you gotta get up pretty early in the morning to slip a 16-way split screen and wave synchronisation past me. Amateur.

On top of a 650ft Crane - I bet your Palms gonna be Sweaty

RedSky says...

All the talk of everyone getting sweaty palms made me think of everyone as a group of women living together and synchronising their menstrual cycle.

Don't ask why.

Also don't ask why I thought it was necessary to point this out.

eX-Girl - Hettakorii No Ottokotou (Live)

MrFisk says...

They claim to hail from the planet Kero Kero. They are described as psychedelic, space rock, jazz fusion, jagged alternating vocal harmonies, sugary synthesiser pop, punk, prog, epic/atmospheric, noise-rock, wavering 3 part a capella, borderline operatic vocals, often in the space of a single song. Live performances are known to include home-made costume during the show, synchronised robot dancing and frog-related items. Enthusiastic supporters include Mike Patton and Jello Biafra:
"eX-Girl are a beautiful example of information overload. Jagged 3 part vocal harmonies, adventurous arrangements, and songs that hook you like the sucker that you are. Take all of these treats, wrap it in an ultra-bright technicolor live show with surreal homemade costumes, and you've got the sensation of being strapped in on an out-of-control carnival ride that will leave you standing in line waiting for another turn."

Precision Soldiers Performing Silent Drill with Music

9410 says...

I imagine its actually somewhat easier to do with music, helps keep everybody on the same beat. The truly silent drills are amazing because everybody has to be synchronised without any sort of metronome. Still, upvote for final countdown

Daft Punk - Harder better faster stronger (Alive 2007)

dag says...

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

The thing that always strikes me about this kind of "live performance" is - how do you know it's live? How easy would it be just to synchronise the whole lights and music thing - and the guys just need to stand up there and move around a bit.

No Reflection: the most brilliant prank ever

Quboid says...

This is excellent, those twins are damn good. I wish I was there being pranked, it would be interesting to experience it first hand with no idea that it's a prank. I probably wouldn't notice their synchronisation errors for a while, then I'd do something like suddenly pat her on the shoulder disguised as a friendly good bye on my way out after chatting, to see what happens to the reflection.

How is this Helicopter flying?

BoneyD says...

lol no, no.. It's large scale-model on a very thin string. I imagine hung from a crane or the like. Because:

1) optical effects you mentioned would be true only if it was stationary and the blades remained at the EXACT same rate of rotation, assuming the camera had somehow magically found the precise shutter speed to match the positions of the blades. This is not true as the Hind is yawing/pitching and gaining/losing height - this would require changes in the throttle, hence changing the speed of rotation and de-synchronising it with the camera shutter speed.

2) Notice how the model seems to swing right to left, then right again, as though from a point high above. It's not until it comes to a stop that the 'crane' is raised.

Very impressive model though! It must be huge... and even comes with retractable landing gear!

Portishead - Wandering Stars (incredible space music video)

benjee says...

I thought this was a fan-made music video at first (as I've never seen it) - but it's too well synchronised to the track and would cost far too much for a fan to produce (some of the footage directly relates to the lyrics). Even by Portishead's standard of astounding music videos - this is incredible...

By the way: I have no idea what the last minute is all about (it doesn't load and the vids already over by then...I guess it's a fault in the video posted/FLV file).

eggs & fruit being squished in slow-motion and reverse

plastiquemonkey says...

"This low-budget video was made by Robert Seidel exclusively within just 2 _ weeks for the planned DVD of Zero 7’s “The Garden”. The director was invited to produce a clip for the track “Futures”, because of his award winning experimental movie _grau.

The video visualizes crushed objects representing a diffuse future of wishes and desires which shape over time. Visible artefacts and the rough synchronisation add subtle emotions to the uncertain process… Side note: Another video for the song was commissioned and got directed by Duckeye, as this one was too uncommercial…"
