Ohio DOT- Don't Be That Driver

Road-Rage Incident

Megaweapon says...

I watched it at 0.25 and (at least that aspect) seems legit. Guy definitely has time to get in and close the door (perhaps moving a bit faster when the SUV started heading for him).

Something seems off about this video. At 0:29 the guy goes from just in front of the SUV with his door open to perfectly seated in the car at 0:31 with the door closed right as the SUV hits his car. How did he even get the door closed in time (as the SUV was right there). Doesn't look CGIed but seems off.

Only in Detroit

Good lord. What an idiot. That beautiful car shouldn't even know it's cold outside. It's not his driving skills, it's the moronic soccer mom/dad who thinks that the snow setting on their SUV means they can drive like they do in summer that's the problem.

Pleasant NYC Driver

Looks like she has a tendency to hit people who try to merge in front of her judging by her bumper.

Also, right at the end, she runs the red and almost gets plastered by an SUV.

Meth is a Hell of a drug.

2009 Chevy Malibu vs 1959 Bel Air Crash Test

oritteropo says...

From the comments in 2009 when this crash test was first released, they won't believe it. People said that it was "obvious" that they had removed bolts and the engine from the Bel Air and that a real crash wouldn't go that way.

Even faced with evidence that modern cars are stronger, they will still say things like:

Engineering improvements or not, the sheer weight and gauge of metals used in the 50's is far superior to the aluminum foil they make cars out of now.

They probably won't believe this one either - https://videosift.com/video/Crash-tests-SUV-vs-Minivan-Which-one-does-better

I know many people that always swear their old cars are safer in a crash because they're heavy and "solid". "The other car is my crumple zone."... I'll have to share this video to them.

Dog on top of cage being towed sparks outrage

Payback says...

That trailer is too heavy for that SUV. If they had to swerve to hit a deer in traffic or something, that entire rig could roll over. The dogs in the cage might survive but that one wouldn't.

I also sincerely believe the dog on top hates riding at all, and probably gets into fights with the other dogs, so he's up there for convenience.

Tesla Predicts a 2 Car Crash Ahead of Driver

Digitalfiend says...

That was pretty cool. I wonder if the Tesla's sensors could still "see" the braking SUV as it is a bigger vehicle than the red car that rear ended it. We can't see the sides of the SUV in the video, until the red car begins its lane change, because of the wide-angle dashcam but perhaps the Tesla's sensors could.

I think the driver of the red car, who wanted to change lanes, was fixated on the black car in the right hand lane and didn't see the SUV suddenly brake. If the red car had collision avoidance capabilities, this accident would likely have been prevented.

Tesla Predicts a 2 Car Crash Ahead of Driver

lucky760 says...

I think the Tesla must've been watching the back-end of the SUV through the windows of the car behind and detected the distance between them was closing too quickly. And maybe it also took into account that the brake lights were firing.

In any case, freaking awesome safety technology. Wish I had it.
