Ha. You know, when I first got into LA back in 1999, it had started to lightly drizzle, and I was on my way to buy a book from Barnes and Noble at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

I got no more than a few steps onto the Promenade before I see a news team with a plastic wrapped camera. The instant they see me, it was like Christmas morning to them, because I was wearing a short sleeve shirt and carried no umbrella. In fact, I remember thinking how odd it was to see people covering up as if it were a monsoon sweeping through LA. They sprint for me. The camera goes up. And the mic goes into my face, and it's like, "Why are you dressed like this in the rain?" It was surreal. To them, this was fucking news!

But I must admit that since being in LA for 14 years, I am not a big pussy when it comes to rain. Time in a place changes you. Now, to me, the light drizzle feels like a monsoon and I have to get out of it pronto! Ha.

Top 10 Worst Movie Casting Choices

chingalera says...

Thought so too, like, how do you cast a remake of King Kong anyhoo?? Black's character in that film in particular (can't really stand him in most films) suited the director's groove and Black's level of Jack...writing totally sucked, because why? Can't recall a single LINE!!! (close to 3 grueling hours)

@playback-HAH! Portrayed himself perfectly, pulled a Matrix like Reeves

John Wayne as Genghis screams tomes of the inner-workings of the OCD God of ta-tas and aeroplanes, that film was excruciatingly surreal-Howard Hughes flicks and a sanitized hotel suite with theater seats and room service....A freak can dream, can't he?

Jack Black was interesting to watch, as he usually is, so his work in King Kong was fine by me.

No crap. First they move there from Europe and kick out the natives, and then they get all pissy that someone else would move in.

The bigger irony is that the descendents of the people of Judea [who the Israelis claim to be, who are the supposed rightful people of Israel] are actually the Palestinians [today practicing Islam].
The current-day Israeli's themselves are a 50/50 mix of Europeans and Jews from other Arab states that moved there after the partition of Palestine post WW2 [committed by the U.K.].

The true home of many Israeli's is Europe, in the countries that turned on them in WW2. But at the time, it was easier to ship out than to go home and say hi to the neighbors that quite happily sold one out to the nazis (they weren't exactly popular, not just in Germany. As disliked as the Nazis were, their attitude towards Jews was not unique). It's surreal how the cycle of violence repeats itself.

I want to roll my eyes every time someone says "thousand year conflict"... when it's more like 65 years.

So sad to see that the people who you'd think, given their history, should know better are becoming like this.

One of the 20th century's greatest figures? What was his enormous contribution to humankind and the marketplace of ideas? Invent the Turing Machine? Discover the structure of DNA?

Now you have enough bits and pieces to create a stimulating, surreal piece of folk art. Getcha some super glue and turn that passion for meditative deconstruction into, Canon Conglomerate #7! (hoping you're not disassembling Leica und Hasselblad, jah?!)

I have seen the one that looks like varicose veins as it formed (did not appear as this one did, like air-bursts from fireworks). It was just above the tree-line about 40 feet away, I did not see it at 10,000 FPS but it probably looked similar.

Had lightning crack just behind and above me once-That one sent a sonic shock through my abdomen to my balls and scared the holy shit outta me! I heard the damn thing forming was what startled me so much, and could smell the intense ionization in the air just prior....surreal.

Russian Gas Truck Explodes In An Accident

So surreal to hear the lyrics "Everybody let's lose control" "Everybody let's hit the floor", ".. let's let it blow" "Scream and shout and let it all out" While there is flaming wreckage and secondary explosions going on.

Personally I would have turned off the dance music the second I saw the collision and stopped safely.
