1st Trailer for Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War”

How Leaks and Politics Threaten National Security

vaire2ube says...

if you watch the training our special forces receive, one has to wonder what recourse besides a suicide bomb is actually plausible to fight such forces.

We have super soldiers with super soldier capabilities and equipment, and so the threat has evolved to match a completely superior combat opponent.

i.e., IEDs and kamikaze attack.

evolution in action, indeed. you can't fight a war on terror.

Stan Lee helps Captain America to engage for marriage.

EMPIRE says...

an actual american army captain dressed as captain american is kinda awesome I have to say. But she could have designed his costume a little tighter. Looks like a pre-super soldier serum Rogers in that thing.

In Soviet Russia, You Blow Up Tank?

sepatown says...

"Sir, you've got to see this!"
"What is it?"
"There's some Russian soldiers carrying a T-90 tank!"
"Holy shitballs! The Russkies have super-soldiers."
"And there's something else."
"What?"
"They let their kids bounce around on their missile trucks."
"Those crazy bastards."

British army acid test

rougy says...

It's making my dupe senses tingle, but still fun to see again.

I heard the US military tried this, too, in an attempt to make a 'super soldier.'

I guess it did, because they didn't feel like fighting any more.

Depends on how you look at it, I suppose.

Iron Man 2 - Official Trailer

detheter says...

This movie is our undoing as a civilization.

Step 1 - Make heros out of people that wear large, powered exoskeletal armor.

Step 2 - Engineer this in real life, for use by police and military forces world wide.

Step 3 - Never fear a protest / rioting mob or invading army again, as the power armored super soldier / police enforcer has arrived. You can sell the developement as protecting the lives of those who serve, and demonize the detractors.

Step 4 - Trample everyones rights.

Step 5 - take the man out of the suit, make the powered armor unmanned, place it in the hands of government officials. Eliminate the need for human armies, eliminate the ability to disobey orders.

Step 6 - Thank the marvel franchise for packaging the idea in such a way that the science becomes entertanment, and removes it from the realm of public debate.

Questions - How powerful should paramilitary police forces become, and does the idea of a fully armored, indestructable "good guy" scare people who concider one nations "good guy" as anothers butcher?

Killing 22 final bosses in 5 minutes

Defrost_My_Head says...

Wow so I'm not the only person that played Wheel of Time! Balefire em into oblivion!
Perhaps more types of games would be better as FPS bosses can't be made that difficult. But even the most complicated game boss there is always going to be a vid on youtube showing how to glitch kill it in 10 seconds. Spoils the fun I reckon.

The games shown and bosses killed are:

Quake II - Makron
Red Faction - Colonel Masako
Jedi Outcast - Desann
Jedi Academy - Marka Ragnos
Deus Ex - Walton Simons
Deus Ex: Invisible War - J.C. Denton
Blood 2: The Chosen - The Ancient One
No One Lives Forever - Tom Goodman
No One Lives Forever 2 - Super Soldier Lieutenant
Aliens vs Predator 2 - General Rykov
F.E.A.R. - Alma
Hitman 2 - Sergei Zavrotko
Command & Conquer: Renegade - Dr. Petrova
Far Cry - Dr. Krieger
Wheel of Time - Ishamael
Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi - Malachi
Iron Storm - Consortium Officer
Bet on Soldier - Max Balding
Jurassic Park: Trespasser - Alpha Raptor
Kill.Switch - Archer
Klingon Honor Guard - Korek
Thief: Deadly Shadows - Gamall

Zero Punctuation: The Second Annual E3 Hype Massacre

Shepppard says...

Ehh.. I find myself again disagreeing with the "Review" this week on some points.

Assassins Creed 2 looks pretty damn good to me, Supposed to be bigger then the first game, new executions, able to assassinate two people at once now and Leo Da Vinci inventing things for you.

Saboteur wasn't mentioned, but it wasn't exactly unveiled at this E3, GTA style game based in france during WWII, able to climb buildings, and the art style seems interesting to me.

Mass Effect 2 in production, using the data from your first game to bring the second game to life, if you killed certain characters off in the first they won't appear in the second, new weapons, ect.

I've been playing the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta, and nobody talks..character wise anyway, and the gameplay is pretty good.

His Beatles rock band point is that it's just a stupid name..

Final Fantasy XIV has next to no info on it yet, except that it's going to be online, So I don't understand why he's critiquing it already, other then the fact that the generally hates Mmorpgs. (Side note, I'm excited to see what they're going to be doing, it's FF11's spiritual predecessor, and FF11 was fantastic until WoW came out and showed that the slow paced combat was outdated.)

Halo Reach seems like it could be very interesting, because it's potentially the first time that you DON'T play as a lone spartan if the game is going to be based off the books, and the planet itself is supposed to be mostly open fields and forest.. again if it's based off the books.

And ODST seems like it'll be great, you're not on a linear storyline and you're able to explore all of New Mombasa, they've pushed the halo 3 engine more then they knew they could and have fantastic looking results, not to mention new features since you're no longer a super-soldier, so you don't have a feeling of complete comfort when you're going through the game because they've essentially reverted back to the halo 1 system of minor "Shields" (Basically called Stamina in ODST) after which your health takes damage.

I dunno, to me this years E3 was actually pretty good, it's talking about titles that don't seem like they're bound to fail from the get-go (lookin at you, Destroy All Humans 3 & Damnation)

You sir, know your Halo.

/sigh, do i seriously SERIOUSLY have to prove my nerdliness?

Alright, Master Chief A.K.A. John, taken as a child, raised for military, in his teens he and the other spartans were injected with controversial enhancements, those who made it would have incredible strength, stamina, bones that would nearly never break, and were made into super soldiers in the first place.

later on in I believe their twenties, they came out with the Mjonlir mark I.
The suit at the time did not have shields, only technology to enhance human performance (Running, jumping, lifting) which when tested on a regular human was so powerful and fast that just snapping a salute shattered his arm.

Later on, the suits were upgraded with shields once jackal shield technology was captured on the battlefield all the while improving the Mjonlirs capabilities, and by the time halo 2 rolled around, they were up to I believe Mjonlir Mark V.

Now, take all that into consideration, and realise the only think he ever dual weilds are pistols, alien weapons, and sub machine guns. Now, correct me if i'm wrong, but half the SMG's we can use now (Usi, Skorpion, ect) are small enough that they COULD actually be dual weilded and used...well, in some cases effectively.

So keeping that in mind, and the fact that halo takes place in the year 2517 onward, i'm sure there would have been vast advances in the sub-machine gun technology, making them lighter and more user friendly.

Now, i'm done. and yes, I am potentially the biggest nerd on the planet.

Why Halo is a crock of shit

Can Time Slow Down?

gwiz665 says...

The way it's presented is a bit misdirecting. Time doesn't slow down, because time is the same as it always is. The brain takes in information faster thus slowing the subject's perception of time. Incidentally, this is why it is so hard to swat a fly, because it takes in information quite fast and perceives the world as slow-motion, compared to us.

I see no reason why our brain shouldn't be able to speed up with the right chemicals, like for instance adrenaline.

Now if we could safely induce these drugs and speed up our brain in the right situations, then super-soldiers are closer than ever.

Nanotechnology Takes Off - KQED QUEST

Imagoamin says...

Now it's only a matter of time before we have trench coat clad, glowy eyed, nano-augmented super soldiers running around the globe saving us from conspiracies.. I for one embrace our new saviors.
