I'll always be a DnB head, but dubstep's pretty cool. I used to be addicted to sub-sub-sub-genre-izing everything in Electronic music, but I got a little sick of it. Especially when I produced a bit of it and everyone was asking what style and I kept having to use 4 or 5 different "it's kinda like a combo of..." statements, before I just resorted to saying "here" and handing them a CD. Still, I think dubstep has enough of a unique groove to warrant at least a sub-sub level. heh. Still don't hear much of it in the raves in the states though. Pretty small clubs and lounges do now and then, but not the big scenes. They're still sticking with the harder DnB. Still, you can dance to it all just fine, DnB just makes you sweat more. Thank God for clubs with cryo jets. http://www.buzzlife.com/ in DC rocks some good DJ's now and then, or they did last I was there. Used to be at Nation which I'll gladly call the best club in DC, but dropped BUZZ for some reason (edit: RAVE act victim, dangit).

Still it can be fun to argue about what tune is what style. Used to go at it with my roommate in college for hours on that sorta crap.

eric3579 asked me how I got those odds, so here it is -- skip if you don't like math!

There are 5 hands. The first card dealt can be anything, but the second through fifth cards all have to be different from the previous cards dealt.

Card 2 would have odds of 48:51 since there are 51 cards left in the deck and three of them can't be dealt to Player 2, as they would have the same face value as Player 1's card.

Cards 3, 4 and 5 would similarly have odds of 44:50, 40:49 and 36:48 respectively.

When Player 1 gets dealt a second card, there are 47 cards left in the deck, and 3 that would match his first card, so his odds of getting a pair are 3:47.

Likewise, Players 2–5 have odds of 3:46, 3:45, 3:44 and 3:43.

Now, multiply all of those odds together to get the odds of 5 different pocket pairs:

Each s_x gets exponentially closer to 1 as x increases. But if x = ∞ , does that mean the value is equal to 1?

I'm 'pounding' out the doves here, but they are an amazing band. They used to be called sub sub (a dance act) back in the early nineties (I would only have been ten and non the wiser, but I remember saying they were my favourite group) They released a few singles of note. These were 'Space face' and 'Ain't No Love (Ain't No Use)'. They bought a studio with the money... Things went wrong, it burnt down, and they were lost to all for a number of years until they came back strong in 2000 as Doves with the album 'Lost souls', a melancholic masterpiece of beauty. I saw them live when they toured their second album 'The last broadcast'. They were awesome.

It's funny. Originally I only decided to comment (I've seen 4 vids without) because I had just lost what ever hope was left of CNN and I get so caught up in a political rant that I forget to mention what Legacy put so clearly. Thanks fo saying what I forgot.

It may be reverse satire (maybe), but to be considered satire there still needs to be a contrast to the truth and the depiction, other-wise known as an irony. Where's the truth among the lies? Although I don't etirely know what is meant by reverse satire - do you mean that it depicts reality's opposite and is thus oppositively true? Even if that is what you mean, it must fit the description of the sub-genre satire, before the (sub?) sub-genre reverse satire. But I'm just geussing really.
