The reason why he let them go is because Reckless Driving in Texas is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine and/or 30 days in jail plus the speeding ticket. Most officers will not bother with this if the person is foreign because they will most likely not be in the country long enough to show up for trial. If he had been a long time resident, it would be up to 200 dollars for the fine, up to 300 for the ticket (depends on location, we have some different scales in certain cities), 2 points on his license (doesn't block you from keeping it, just means that you have to pay extreme renewal fees), and the possible jail time. Anything over 10 days would be served at County, so I guess it is possible for anal violation, but I've never seen someone get more than 10 for RD.

It always strikes me as somewhat desperate to sideswipe the opposition in snarky adverts like this. Apple did it with the whole Mac vs PC campaign and it was pretty embarrassing for Mac users and PC users!

However, maybe those who oppose pornography ARE morally superior to those who don't. "Ashamed of sex." Ha! Morally developed people understand that porn is not the same as sex, and they are ashamed of it. Yes, we ought to cultivate healthy sexual practices and, like Chomsky says, "have nothing to do with" immoral ones.


Mebbe those that don't try to dictate to others how they choose to live (when they are acting within the laws and their conscience) are morally superior to idealistic, insistent proselytizers with axes to grind? (referring to Noam specifically, but you may feel sideswiped by association)

I love to watch cops getting owned by people. It's the best. I can imagine the string of obscenities being yelled in that cop's wagon, especially at the moment he sideswiped that guy's car at the end.

From what I saw, it doesn't look like a square hit. Seems like there were three ships running in parallel, then one of them crossed behind the middle ship. When the crossing ship's captain saw he was in a collision course for the third ship, he straightened out again, but too late to avoid sideswiping it. If they had t-boned it, they would probably both have gone down. Though we don't get to see if they did anyway.
