Obamedia Fail

shuac says...

I've always said this guy is a terrible Press Sec. Where's Scott McClellan when we need him? The Bush Admin. was reprehensible on many many fronts but they got things done. They pushed ideas through. The ideas were terrible but dammit, they got accomplished.

That's what I wish most for the Dems: more balls and less worrying about being popular.

Obama's Speech - "Something the Fuehrer would have done"

NetRunner says...

>> ^Irishman:
How do you think this event will be percieved around the world?
Moving the venue to a football ground and filling it with 75,000 'adoring fans' does have the whiff of fanatacism about it.
I'm sure many Europeans will see this event echoing 1930s Germany.
I think it's right that this be raised and discussed. Obama's speech in Israel followed by this event is sending out a very particular type of message.
It's not about what I personally think, it's about the alarm bells that this kind of stunt rings around the rest of the world. It's about perception.

So to my original point, normally nomination acceptance speeches are given before a crowd of 20,000...why is adding 55,000 more people nefarious?

Don't things like torture, ignoring habeas corpus, domestic spying, propaganda, consolidating power, and open flirtation with starting a war with Iran send a bigger message?

We've got an election where McCain is endorsing all of those things either overtly in his rhetoric, or tacitly by refusing to vote against them, and Obama speaks out about ending all of the above, and votes against it when he has the opportunity.

Given that, shouldn't Europeans be more concerned that there's still a pretty significant chance McCain could win, not because Obama plans to give a speech before a crowd less than half the size of the one he attracted in Germany?

God of War Contrasts Bill O. and Jon Stewart

kulpims says...

Scott McClellan should be in jail, not selling books. And all the people he wrote about with him. And then all the journalist that played into this administrations's two term long insane power trip should be fired. and it should happen within a month of Obama taking office. cause everyone knows you don't go rolling up newspapers two days after your dog has pooped itself on the carpet...

Description links to a McClellan TDS interview from 2007. The more-recent McClellan TDS interview is here:

It's fun to watch them both. Strange that Stewart ends both interviews with the same clip of McClellan's last day with Bush on the lawn.

Huckabee Defends Televangelist Kenneth Copeland

Trancecoach says...

makes me shudder to think that televangelists like this have the ears (and sometimes more) of politicians in the highest levels of the American government. I just learned today that Pastor Hagee, who has taken some swipes from the media recently as a result of his affiliation with John McCain, has had a Direct Line to the Bush White House since 2000, according to Scott McClellan speaking today on Fresh Air with Terry Gross. Now if that doesn't make you believe that the Christian Right has this country by the balls, I don't know what will.

Sweet moves, coach.
Also, check out what http://moveon.org/ is calling for him to do with all that book money he's making.

Thanks, Monk.

And yes, the suggestion that McClellan donate part of the proceeds of the book to the Iraq War vets is brought up by Russert in the second clip, to which McClellan states that it has been an intention from the beginning.

How much and to what extent, we'll have to wait and see.

Scott McClellan says Bush relied on propaganda

lesserfool says...

^ Scott McClellan's book says more about McClellan than it does about the administration? Nice Lurch.

You missed the last 4 years of news because you were watching FOX News or listening to airhead conservative radio and now you are saying that thinking critically means giving the administration the benefit of doubt. There is no liberal conspiracy to make the administration look stupid and corrupt, they actually are stupid and corrupt. The reason it hasn't been brought out in the courts is because they are not models of efficiency and certainly not above political corruption. The administration's support network has to fall before the people inside do.
