To be fair a lot of republicans are just trying to save face for the party after realising what a fucking epic shitshow they've caused. If they truly had a conscience and morals they would have voted to impeach.

- Both the south /and/ the north were racist.

- Neither cared about the fate of black people.

- The war started over secession (to which slavery was only a contributing factor, among many much more important [to the people in authority] factors).

- After the war was on, the north used the subject of slavery to their benefit.
A) Freeing slaves in only the rebelling states, in order to incite slave revolts and use that to military advantage. (if the northern authority wins, then the emancipation becomes southern law. If the confederate authority wins, then the emancipation is meaningless. So confederate slaves were given a personal incentive to help the northern authority win)
B) Paint the south internationally as 1 dimensional caricatures of evil (war propaganda), to cut off the south's supply of foreign made arms (because they didn't make their own).

- After the war was over, most of the slave owning states had been emancipated, and the north had claimed to be champions of liberty, so in order to save face they had to emancipate slaves in the remainder of the south (plus it was no skin off of their back, so it was easy to do).

(The southern states that had been allowed to keep their slaves could not then protest their emancipation, for they were few and weak - and would get no help from the other southern states that they themselves hadn't helped during the civil war (resentment/reciprocity)).

- When writing schoolbooks at that time, the rhetoric/propaganda was repeated, and generations of people grew up repeating it, perpetuating it for future generations (like religion).

His statements are related, but really not logically connected. He overexplains things people already agree on. His statements seem profound and philosophical to him, but not to anyone else. He is unaware of his physical space (his arms). He loses his place in his thoughts and has to go back and work them out before he can continue... or maybe he just says something else at random, like, "...there is no such thing as consciousness at all..." to save face because his initial train of thought plunged off a cliff.

She didn't just run outside, nor demonstrate any hatred for cops. She was trying to reason with the first officer who insisted on ignoring her likely solely in the interest of saving face.

It was only after her willful ignorance that the lawyer lady became upset.

Just like your world-class critical thinking skills lead you to believe the cops had a good reason to interrogate the old guy based on him as an individual (and not as just as some black man), you should point your critical thinking in the other direction and determine that the lawyer was upset with the cop as an individual for her specific actions, not just because she's some cop.

With any sliver of critical thinking it's obvious there's no indication the lawyer hates cops, just that she's upset with the actions of this person, who happens to be a cop.

I'm not justifying what the officer did, he's totally wrong, but I'm guessing arguing with the cop and being confrontational is why the biker got arrested and treated so poorly. Which doesn't mean cops can arrest people for being disrespectful, like I said, I'm not justifying.

- The officer gets out of the car and he's yelling, "What? What??", wtf kind of ghetto way is that of greeting a cop motherfucker? Unless he's looking for trouble though, then ok it's the right way.

- "I have not committed any crimes and you can't take my personal property", it's not up to the biker to decide whether he committed a crime and yes the cop can seize your vehicle if he arrests you, so why dare the cop to do what he knows he can do? Oh look he ended up doing what the biker said he couldn't!

- The cop asks for papers and he's like "technically, you're not allowed to ask for my papers if I haven't committed a crime", again, the biker doesn't know if he committed a crime, and yes the cop is allowed to ask for papers if you're driving a vehicle, maybe you can argue later in court?

- The cop comes back and says the 3 magic words, "You're under arrest" on some bogus charge, just accept that you're under arrest, trying to talk the cop out of it while ignoring his orders = BAD IDEA.

- He's under arrest and keeps yapping and being uncooperative, pointing out it's a bogus charge doesn't help because he's trying to shame the cop into letting him go, he's not leaving any room for the cop to save face.

I know we all want cops to be perfect angels that can take a lot of shit and abuse from people on a daily basis and not react emotionally, but guess what, they're flawed human beings like the rest of us. You wouldn't greet a waitress with "What? What??" and expect good spit-free service, would you?
