Jim Bakker: Ask Angels To Help Trump

SDGundamX says...

You know, I went on a roller coaster of emotions watching this.

First, I felt mildly amused by the lady who claims to be able to see angels.

Then I felt pity for everyone up there that seems to believe her.

After that I felt a bit of anger, because I remembered that this guy Bakker is an ex-con who swindled his congregation and possibly raped one of his secretaries and yet somehow here he is on TV again preying on people desperate to find meaning and hope in their lives.

Then I felt disgust as I remembered the news from the other day about the teen denied birth control from her Walgreens pharmacist because he claimed a religious objection to filling the prescription and that in many places in the U.S. it is perfectly legal for pharmacists to do so.

The only thing that eased my mind after this is that young people in the U.S. are non-religious in record numbers and that these numbers have steadily increased and will likely continue to increase going into the future. The quicker organized religion dies out, the better off we'll all be.

Guy Stuck In A Reboot Loop On A Roller Coaster

00Scud00 says...

Fat lot of good that will do him, they left the recovery disc back at the hotel. When I first read the title I just assumed it was something wrong with the roller coaster.

You've reminded me of something hilarious from the expo, but I can't find a picture of it. There was a 2D sculpture of a Canadian Mountie, I think near the roller coaster, that totally had a huge boner! It was really the end of the arm, but the way it was made the elbow is in back, but in front was just a little triangle just below waist level. It was too funny, and obviously not intentional. Oh, the things you notice when you're 16.

Vancouver - Expo 86 - Part III- GM Holographic Exhibit

newtboy says...

The GM pavilion was by far the most interesting thing at the fair that year...at least to a 16 year old kid (and I'm including the roller coaster). Sadly the footage isn't the best, but the quality of the projection was excellent. The show was an old native American telling stories that came to life in his campfire smoke. It wasn't until the end that he becomes smoke and you realize he wasn't an actor, but was also a projection the entire time. It was amazing, and more than a bit sad that we don't have holographic movies today, seeing as it was clearly possible 30 years ago.
I don't remember much of the rest of the fair. Lots of silly movies and miniatures, a few performances, a couple of rides, and lots of oddly depressing foods. GM definitely won my vote for best exhibit by far.

Eoin's Slippery Slide

eric3579 says...

I had read, a day or two ago, when this was first posted (presumably by the father) that the kid was perfectly fine and ran off to the swings after this.

Ever ride roller coasters in the rain. Faster. Same with most slides.

New Record Breaking Roller Coaster In Charlotte NC

bobr3940 says...

Roller coaster design seems to be stuck in a loop of designing extremes (height, speed, loops, etc). While those are fun you usually end up in the position that enoch mentions, a 3 hour wait for a 1- 2 minute ride. I would much rather have a roller coaster ride with less extremes but a longer duration. A coaster ride that lasted 3-5 minutes would be much more enticing to me than this continued push for short duration extremes.

How To Sell A House? With A Rollercoaster

Too Many Cooks

VoodooV says...

I'll admit it was a bit of a roller coaster for me. the first couple minutes and they were beating the Full House horse, I started to get bored, but then they started switching to other shows and that drew me back in again. Then they kinda over did it with the serial killer guy and I started to lose interest again, then they got to the sci fi meme and I started smirking again.

certainly reminds me of this: *related=http://videosift.com/video/Rejected-Family-Learning-Channel-Commercials

So, they're superfast sky roller coasters that just happen to be able to carry bombs as well, who says you can't have both?

Augmented Thrill Ride Project: Oculus Rift + Roller Coaster

Grimm says...

Seems like they would be able to do more with something like this is in a simulator than with a roller coaster. With a coaster the experiences have to always match the speed and movement with the track. In a large simulator (like Star Tours) The could program multiple experiences.
