Captain Marvel (Shazam) Will Fucking Kill You

ant says...

Heh, I never knew this existed. It totally reminds me of Superman with George Reeves I used to <3 watching a callow ant. However, Superman is still better.

The original Matthew McConaughey car commercial

Fairbs says...

He kind of went from being a Keanu Reeves type guy and now is steering more towards Harry Dean Stanton or maybe even a little bit Christopher Walken. Bad early roles for his abilities maybe?

PS Ellen is rad.

I'm still puzzled how this guy went from the laughing stock as an actor to an Oscar winner and toast of Hollywood. Did he make a deal with Satan or something?

Honest Trailers - Man of Steel

budzos says...

The deviation from source was actually quite minimal. All the big elements of the mythos used in the movie are drawn from established canon. The major problem most people have is Superman snapping Zod's neck at the end when Zod was demonstrating his intent to kill every human on earth with his newfound powers. I'm not a big fan of the writing putting Superman into a corner like that, but it does represent a lesson learned and a starting point for the character to grow from. He was clearly anguished by being forced to take deadly action. This is a contrast to the Chris Reeve Superman who first arrived in Metropolis and revealed himself to the world as a fully formed superhero with full mastery of his powers.... who killed a *de-powered* Zod and the other Kryptonians at the end of Superman II by tossing them down a frozen chasm, then laughed about it.

I had low expectations (dunno why exactly), but I liked the movie quite a bit. I know very little about the comic book Superman, only stuff I've picked up from other sources -- so I don't know if or how extensive any backstory alterations were.

One thing that I've always thought about Superman is that it sure seems like it would be more likely that an "alien" in his situation would turn out pretty evil; absolute power corrupting absolutely and that sort of thing. I thought this movie did a better job than the (limited) other versions that I've seen of having him face down those temptations.

Honest Trailers - Man of Steel

EvilDeathBee says...

Funny video, but jeez, so many butt-hurt fanboys over this movie. I thought Man of Steel was awesome. Had a few problems, but overall a great super hero movie.

"So, if you loved the Christopher Reeve era superhero movie..."
I'm gonna stop you right there, this ISN'T the Richard Donner movie and it's not intending to be. Get over the past.

Top 10 Worst Movie Casting Choices

chingalera says...

Thought so too, like, how do you cast a remake of King Kong anyhoo?? Black's character in that film in particular (can't really stand him in most films) suited the director's groove and Black's level of Jack...writing totally sucked, because why? Can't recall a single LINE!!! (close to 3 grueling hours)

@playback-HAH! Portrayed himself perfectly, pulled a Matrix like Reeves

John Wayne as Genghis screams tomes of the inner-workings of the OCD God of ta-tas and aeroplanes, that film was excruciatingly surreal-Howard Hughes flicks and a sanitized hotel suite with theater seats and room service....A freak can dream, can't he?

Jack Black was interesting to watch, as he usually is, so his work in King Kong was fine by me.

Watched it once, never to return-One of those once is enough flicks....Don't dig that 'window into slow demise' kinna flick(didn't LLV kinna put him on the map....Best Actor)?

He takes on roles as cage playing cage-I place him in the Keanu Reeves category of hactors as in, where are they now?
But you really can say that about any A-lister from the 80's-90's, Hollywoods' drying up on her corner and vine-Cage got roles and was handed prominence because of the Godfather, FFC.

Brian Cranstons' got more talent in his little finger, and he's done how many feature films???

Liked 'Next', but because of Jessica Beale and Julianne Moore, plus.....Philip K Dick story-and I'm about the PhilDick.

Can't watch Raising Arizona anymore-can't get a giggle from it-my chucklers' maybe broke....

(watching Lord of War now, revisiting it to try and prove myself wrong)

Will Smith Performs "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" with Jaden.

chingalera says...

Perhaps and we can only hope, Jaden will go the way of the Coppola daughter and make some movies worthy of the cut "cause on-accounta he caint ack"...very well yet anyhow, n will most likely head down the path of dad's shadow should he continue to enjoy the acting shoes...the same profession for which he is undoubtedly set for life in considering the number of peeps in the generation who grew up on Fresh Prince.

I missed Fresh Prince (ignored), and I did not get the memo that told me that Will Smith, not unlike Keneeau Reeves, is able to NOT portray, but a single character.

Whoa. How does Norton stay gay with guests like Heather Graham on his show alla time??

After Earth Trailer #2

chingalera says...

It's Will Smith and son, Fletch.....Daddys' grooming his no-actin' son to take over the Smith legacy for future generations of popcorn-slammin' entertainment junkies.

He looks to be shaping-up in the fine tradition of the Will Smith, uni-dimensional school of acting.

If Keneau Reeves were black (and had a personality), he might still be making movies, too!
