FOIA Lawsuits Cause Release of New WTC7 Collapse Video

bcglorf says...

I'm saying they tested for scenarios such as jets with full fuel loads smashing into the towers when they designed them. And provided quotes from the actual engineers stating that fact.

Some questions, since I always manage to completely misunderstand waht you believe your saying:

Most importantly, do you trust the honesty and competence of the engineers who published those tests?
I for one do.

Do you realize that your quotes from those engineers are from long BEFORE the attacks on the towers?

Do you realize that NONE of those engineers have come forward to condemn or rebuke the official story of the collapse?

The deeper story of the references you've given is that the engineers behind them have new evidence since the attacks. Primarily that the buildings collapsed hours after being hit by airliners. They have accepted a re-analysis of their initial tests and agree with the conclusion. That the combination of the initial crash striping the fireproofing and the following fires could collapse the towers, a condition they did not test for in their initial analysis you referenced.

And the number one question still stands:

Where is the profit in crashing the planes into the buildings, that wasn't already equally profitable by simple controlled demolition.

QI - Blowing Smoke Up One's Ass

entr0py says...

Yeah, they still didn't quite make the connection between blowing smoke up one's ass and flattery. Maybe it was meant along the lines of "what you're doing is useless and irritating, please stop". And somehow it came to be used exclusively as a rebuke of flattery.

Rachel Maddow Show - Full Interview with Jon Stewart

Yogi says...

Stewarts assessment of "conversation stoppers" is much like Neil Degrasse-Tysons criticism of Richard Dawkins. In that sometimes when you're preaching to people that they're stupid for believing something...they might think you sound like a dick. You'll see hippies in media portrayed by that...lecturing people on how they're wrong instead of engaging them so they're more likely to completely shut down and then it's just John McCain staring at Jon Stewarts chest talking constantly and waiting for the interview to end.

EDIT: Here's the video I was talking about with Neil and Dawkins. Neil Rebukes Dawkins.

Warcraft has such a HUGE lore with hundreds of damn characters from tons of different media that they have to put into their MMO. On the one hand it's cool to draw from all this stuff on the other they've had to rewrite a TON of lore and they just forget other parts of it.
That being said I watched this Blizzcon thing and most questioners were self important demanding nobodies who weren't looking at this new awesome world blizz created that has a ton of cool new stuff. They were just whining and complaining about meaningless nothings...everything to them was a personal transgression. Blizzard should just start out every question with the questioner having to be on his knees and thanking them for creating the best MMO ever and for constantly making it interesting.
Honestly some of the most entitled people in the world are Gamers. Go outside jackasses.

I see we have some blizzard fans in the house?
From my unbiased viewpoint, i think blizzard ought to be apologising for taking MMO's down the horrendously easy, cheap duplication of instances/events to keep the masses grazing, everyone gets every piece of loot they want, low skilled, low risk....road.

Unbiased Viewpoint? You have to be retarded to start out a rebuke with that bullshit. Also what did I just say about Gamers being "Entitled Jackasses". Thanks for proving me right you entitled jackass.

What are you talking about? I list off a bunch of reasons why i dislike a game and that's biased? Especially compared to someone saying "people should get on their knees to blizzard for making teh beast game evarrrrr!!!"
At what point did i demand that they change their game for me? As far as i can see, i said that i didn't like the way they took the MMO genre. Entitled jackass is right, but i think you're pointing the finger in the wrong direction.
Have at it, you won't hear another peep from me. God forbid i dislike something you like and explain what i prefer.

Olbermann: Obama needs to prosecute Bush/Cheney

RolandP says...

Its just these intrigue people behind the web. Anybody who was old enough during September 11th to remember knows how hard that day was for The United States. The attack is shown to be devastating to everyone in the country at the time, not just family and friends of those who perished, in history books. President Obama makes it seem like September 11th wasn’t as hard for the country as it truly was. Liz Cheney rebukes President Obama for what he claims about the attack.

Bill Maher Interviews Jesus Christ

Lawdeedaw says...

Maher would want a god that is like your mother; cures all wounds (like killing the devil and removing all evil) that ails you but smoothers you? If I was god, and I am not because I do not believe in Him, I would have made man to feel sadness and death so they would know happiness and care. Why care about something that lives forever; why feel happiness when you have no clue what is opposing happiness?

So that answers that.

Jealousy would be my best godly measuring tool. I would call it my god-stick... see, like a yardstick but a corny pun!

The ice, water and steam analogy was good; if it stopped you in your tracks Maher. It was philosophical up your ass Maher... By a simpleton ye nuts rang out... And I heard no rebuke except "It is utter bullshit."

Besides that, I agree with Maher.

I'm sorry I'm a Christian - Chris Tse, spoken word

@Nlt42886

jesustube is ---> that way.

You're going to have a helluva boring stay here if all you do is argue with the giant population of athiest sifters. Kinda like WP and his arguing with... everybody else.

"If there is any difference in any Christian that ever was or will be, God made the difference, not the man"

That, I personally take offense to. God doesn't make the people, a man decides his own fate based upon what he wants in life. You can spout your religious gibbity-goop all you like, you'll only be met with answers like mine. You will be rebuked and proven wrong.

You will be shown the hypocrisy of your own words, much like you have been already by burd.

"If I claim to be a Christian and we are talking about Christian things, the bible is the only authority I have, not my opinions."

Your opinions are based upon the bible. If you are a christian, and follow the 'faith' then you're basing everything upon one book. Everything you believe and think about are based upon said book. It's one in the same.

You've posted 3 comments in your [brief] time here at videosift. If I were you, I'd consider toning it down, or moving to a different website more suited to your ideals.

The myth of drinking eight glasses of water a day

Kreegath says...

Either I've missed all those people who've explicity said that you *need* to drink 8 glasses of water a day, or this man argues against something that virtually no professional claims is a necessity for good health. It's definately good to drink alot of water, especially when you're physically active, and that's exactly what all the doctors, nurses, physicians, pediatricians etc. I've met with in this part of the world have been saying. To not drink enough water every day leads to problems, but it won't kill you on tuesday if you didn't drink a drop of liquid on monday.

Now, if so many people have been telling this guy that he absolutely has to drink atleast 8 glasses a day, that he felt the need to make a video to rebuke it, then of course it's his prerogative. But the moment someone uses the phrase "think about it" when trying to convince me of something, anything, there's a huge red flag of scepticism popping up in my mind.

Veruca Salt "I Kissed a squirrel and I Liked It" Parody

To Clarify, if it even needed to be, Yes, Veruca Salt IS ALSO a band, as well as the name of the well known materialistic, selfish little shit from Willy Wonka prominently featured in this video. Wasnt aware, this somehow gave the impression the band "Veruca Salt" were the ones doing the PARODY, and they are 2 distinctly different things. So yeah point was, um its funny. The presumption from you though of any ignorance from this "kid" Is far funnier though. Seriously, you think anyones dumb enough to think this sounds like the band in any way? Get over your little judgemental, presumptuous, fact finding self and just enjoy the video for what it is, or heres a novel idea, how about if you felt my description gave the wrong impression, just simply pointing it out to me rather than spew venom? Check that information repository you mentioned, and look up "presumption" Then feel free to school the "kids"

No, your original video description (before you changed it) read that the song "I Kissed a Girl" was by Veruca Salt. And you know you changed it.
Hey, it's not even really a huge deal, you know? Whatever! It's all good, baby. Was my rebuke over the top? Yep.
But don't knowingly change the incorrect text and then act all indignant. It's beneath you, trust me. Reveal the strength of your character and say, "Oh, yeah...you know I screwed up when I said that song was by Veruca Salt." Or chalk it up to an innocent typo. I'll accept that. But don't change it and then wonder, publicly, how I could possibly glean what I did. Are you a politician? If not, then you may have a bright future. Think about running.

Did I not just say that? Re read... "If my description gave the wrong impression point it out"
Obviously it did, and I corrected the problem, my point was the unnecessary ugliness, and the presumption it was out of ignorance vs a typo. not the correction of the description once mistake was noted. I removed some of the title text when it was posted because it did not fit, and apparently missed the "by" when backspacing. Of course I changed it, why wouldn't I? Again complaint was in the approach and your presumption, not the typo I was happy to correct.

Psychochemical Dumbing-Down of Society

Raigen says...

There's so much wharrgarbl going on in there I almost popped a blood vessel.

Contrary to the "Idiocracy" belief that our society is being "dumbed down", as it were (and, believe me, I still find myself saying this is the case) evidence suggests the opposite is the case. In first world nations across the globe intelligence quotients are rising (and plateauing in some cases, while minority's IQs are still rising), and belief in silly religions and superstitions are falling.

Yes there is Mercury in Thimersol, but it isn't the horrific kind.
Bad Mercury: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylmercury
Thimersol Mercury: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethylmercury

The key words there are "Bioaccumulate": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioaccumulate

For a look at the whole "Vaccines/Thimersol causes Autism" wharrgarbl, I rebuke with a video I posted to the sift a while back: http://videosift.com/video/Do-Vaccines-Cause-Autism-A-Detailed-Examination

Oh, and hey! How about the fact that Dr. Wakefield, the father of the whole Vaccine/Autism debacle with his article published in The Lancet was discredited finally!

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2010/02/02/and-now-the-antivax-failure-is-complete-the-lancet-withdraws-wakefields-paper/

As for the whole "Flouride" wharrgarbl I'd just recommend reading the Wiki's Article on Water Flouridation, in particular this section right around paragraph 3: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_fluoridation#Ethics_and_politics

(Emphasis mine)

"Conspiracy theories involving fluoridation are common, and include claims that fluoridation was motivated by protecting the U.S. atomic bomb program from litigation, that (as famously parodied in the film Dr. Strangelove) it is part of a Communist or New World Order plot to take over the world, that it was pioneered by a German chemical company to make people submissive to those in power, that behind the scenes it is promoted by the sugary food or phosphate fertilizer or aluminum industries, or that it is a smokescreen to cover failure to provide dental care to the poor.[19] One such theory is that fluoridation was a public-relations ruse sponsored by fluoride polluters such as the aluminum maker Alcoa and the Manhattan Project, with conspirators that included industrialist Andrew Mellon and the Mellon Institute's researcher Gerald J. Cox, the Kettering Laboratory of the University of Cincinnati, the Federal Security Agency's administrator Oscar R. Ewing, and public-relations strategist Edward Bernays.[84] Specific antifluoridation arguments change to match the spirit of the time.[85]"

The video is right; let's get the facts. And if your facts only support your "New World Order", "omfg they're trying to control our minds" nonsense, well then, those are your "facts". There's a funny thing about why smart people believe weird things; read about it in Michael Shermer's "Why People Believe Weird Things". It showed me the error of some of my foolish beliefs as well.

And I'm at the point where I wonder why I bother doing this, I'm talking to walls and making friends with no one. I guess I just care too much about seeing fear mongering bullshit like this peddled as if it has any rational backing whatsoever.

Ron Paul to Obama: Don't Assassinate American Citizens!

GeeSussFreeK says...

>> ^volumptuous:
Wait. What American citizen has Obama assassinated?
And if I remember correctly, not only has Obama signed documents over a year ago to close GITMO, but he's also pushing for criminal trials of terrorists. But, it's the congress that is holding this shit up, not Obama.
So, maybe Dr.Paul here needs to have a R3VOLUTION to push these things forward. Not just give a fucking speech on an empty house floor.

He has made more dark and insidious the evils of the past administrations. Indefinite detention without trial is his, he owns it. Closing one prison to open another 5k miles away in Afghanistan is no great achievement for the ideals you would say he pretends to espouse.

He also has to own up to the fact that the current CIA director is saying this out in the open and hasn't gotten a rebuke from the administration. The director position is an appointed one, so any problems that stem from the CIA are tie back to the executive branch...the president is ultimately responsible for their blunders.

Why hasn't Richard Dawkins converted more Atheists?
