Bill Maher Stands By Mohammed Remarks

Bloocut says...

Hmmm, I'm annoyed or otherwise perturbed that Mohammad is the most popular name as well and that for the religious aspects-It's a gauge on the backward-thinking majority being kept slaves by a system of disinformation, economic servitude, etc. What's the most popular aristocratic European name? Hindi? Dutch? Who gives a damn but to know that the fact that Mohammad is popular is due to lack of knowledge regarding the origins of world religions and the grip those that know the truth have over masses of people.

People have used the race card with me as well when cogent, reasonable discourse eluded them-I usually end up telling them to go fuck themselves and shove their pompous, self-righteous bullshit, firmly in their assholes.

Star Trek Delivers Libertarian Message

ButterflyKisses says...

Wow the irony of your statement is astounding! You engage in partial-truth statements about another group of people in order to try and make your party look better all the while insulting them and trying to reflect your own ignorance upon them. I find it a pathetic attempt at social politics in order to supposedly benefit your group. The problem is that many people see through your little charade. Unfortunately many do not and that's what you prey upon.

Since I was previously a democrat I have a good idea what they are about. There are moralistic qualities that are admirable however they are misguided in many ways as well. I like many of the philosophies of the libertarian group however I don't agree with all of them there either. Your assumption that libertarians would prefer seeing the black man thrown on the street and refused service is rediculous and absurd. You're merely trying to play a race card that really isn't there. I find that many will use the race card when it's their only avenue of recourse. This is VERY pathetic and it actually hurts your cause when you do this.

BTW, nobody likes the Ferengi.

>> ^NetRunner:

But you are confused. You don't understand what liberals are about.
By way of illustration, I'll say it again: I believe this non-DeLancie Q is absolutely correct. I'll go even further, any liberal who disagrees with it is not really a liberal.
Where we differ is that libertarians say "individual rights" means property rights and nothing else, while liberals realize that doesn't protect our basic rights as individuals at all.
My common example these days would be the old practice of businesses refusing to serve blacks. Libertarians think that as far as rights are concerned, the discriminating shop owner has a right to do it, and has a legitimate expectation that law enforcement will uphold his right to do so, right down to physically removing black people from his store if necessary.
To liberals, the issue of rights breaks the other way.
If you are interested in learning about the political philosophy of liberals, read this and its follow-up.
If you just want to be a mindless jerk who constantly refuses to look at what he's so busy insulting, just keep behaving as you always do.

TDS: Race Card is Maxed Out

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

Nice to see some truth being spoken on this whole race thing. Every once in a while JS gets it right. The Race Card got maxed out a long time ago. Time to pay the balance and put it away to only be used for legitimate emergencies rather than political convenience.

Guy plays in the traffic and gets hit by a van.

brunopuntzjones says...

If anyone listened to Opie & Anthony today, they had this guy on their show.

Recap: Video was filmed over a year ago, just now got popular.

Guy's name is Ken and is a rapper. He was doing his "dance" for his new song, gipper (pronounced jip er, not like Reagan). He was dancing where he was could, wasn't any traffic in "his" lane. Then the truck came out of no where and hit him.

He said the truck driver wasn't paying attention. He broke some ribs and had a bruised lung. Driver nor he had insurance.

Guy never admitted any guilt, said it was all the drivers fault for not watching out for him. He never played the race card at least.

He goes by Optimo 55 Souf on youtube.

Rachel Maddow: Racist Roots of Arizona Law

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

If brown folks bother you, just say it.

The position is one of law enforcement. The only relevant factor is 'legal' or 'illegal'. It is pretty weak when the only argument is to toss the race card and ignore the germaine issue of law enforcement.

...tyrannical overreach of government, but now assert ... this Arizona law that empowers the police to shake down anyone for documentation on mere suspicion, and arrest people who can't prove their citizenship on the spot.

The opposition to health care has always been discussed as the tyrannical overreach of the FEDERAL government. I've always stated that the state, county, and municipal level is where government should primarily be vested with Federal authority being limited to oversight & regulation. I know the left generally distrusts an approach that isn't centrally planned though. Let a STATE decide what is best for itself? The horror!

That's the hardest thing about this bill is that it seems to be doing some good, when in reality it is not

I tend to agree, but for different reasons. I can only shake my head at the left's attempt to paint this as a race issue. That seems like unfounded race baiting based only on presumption. But on the other hand, Arizona's law is a bandaid on a sword stroke. There are a lot of illegals of all shapes & sizes and they exist all over the country. Even if Arizona manages to clamp down, the illegals will just go somewhere else. The US has an OK - if cumbersome - student, temp worker, and immigration program. What we don't have is an effective system to deport illegals when they are identified.

The first step is to cut off the influx. Build the border wall. Walls work. Walls are effective. Ask the Huns, East Germans, and Palestinians. The US built the Panama Canal. Building an effective border wall is child's play by comparison.

Next, we have to require citizenship ID in order to obtain essential services. Renting or owning property, utilities, phones, education, bank accounts, cash by wire, employment, credit cards, driver permits, insurance, medical care and other key functions should all require ID. If you cannot supply the ID, then you get flagged for review and if you are an illegal you get deported. And yes, any time a cop pulls you over or picks you up - no matter who you are - you should be identified. If the police find they have an illegal, then the illegal gets remanded and deported.

I see no racism or malice in the sensible enforcement of immigration policy. Illegals are - by definition - illegal. I don't get why there are people who think that enforcing the law is racist. The accusation of racism seems to be a politically motivated red herring to me.

Inspirational Speech by Martin Luther King

>> ^quantumushroom:

Why doesn't anyone ever quote these words by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? Just a guess: there's no profit in these words for race-baiting poverty pimps who thrive on victimology.

'Race-baiting', 'The race card', 'profit from poverty' and 'victimology' are right wing concepts designed to marginalize anyone with the courage to broach the topic of race, and to ultimately shut down the dialog on racism all together. Racism is real, qm, and whether you know it or not, you keep it alive with this kind of ignorant language.

Noam Chomsky on Ron Paul Supporters

blankfist says...

The race card? I see what you did there.

I doubt you can accurately make such a sweeping accusation against Libertarians, @volumptuous. I believe you'd find racism in any party or political affiliation. I don't care that Obama is black. I care that he's stealing more of my money.

[edit] I just watched the video. As a Libertarian I can tell you none of what Om Nom Chomsky proposes as common ground to approach us is going to work. None of it. If you came to us and tried to say that April 15th is a day we should welcome because in a democratic society it's money taken for things we all agreed upon, you'd probably get laughed at. Stealing money produced from someone's labor is theft, and having the majority decide how much of that money needs to be stolen and where it needs to be spent is not our idea of a good selling point for your cause.

More race card sh;t.
Sane person: And that's why I think Obama's plan to raise the capital gains tax will prolong any recession.
Liberal: You just wanna kill people with BROWN skin! Hate crime!
Sane person: Remember to vote November 5th.

Only a fuckstick like you would take a parody that exposes the shallowness of racism and equate it with some invisible phantom robbing you of your money.

Wow those kids are white.
I mean it. They're all white.
At least they have something close to gender parity - but still. Not one black or Asian. I think maybe I saw someone who maybe looked Indian though (on the left @ 3m:24s).

That's what you think gender parity looks like? What are you, a CS major? There's at least twice as many guys.

longde - "the race card" is a cop out is it? You think that people don't try to make life more difficult for others by pretending to percieve racism when there really is no racism present? Don't talk bullshit mate, you see it happen just as i do..

How on earth do you know WHICH comments i was referring to in order to try and belittle my comment? Just cherry pick the ones that look bad, yeah? How about cherry picking the ones that don't and assume that i'm not a moron you can randomly chasise without a decent coherent reply? That kind of selective ignorance of context and meaning is exactly where "the race card" comes from.

"Please explain to me how this kid's actions reflect on all black people? Again, why drag this into it? It's this kneejerk racism that gets me. And you want to defend it and EBM."
-- PLEASE tell me where i dragged racism into it. Where did i mention ANY black people?! I specifically avoided ANY comments about anyone's colour intentionally, and you STILL managed to play the race card on me. That's exactly what the race card is. Accusing people of racism for the moral highground when they are innocent of it. Thanks for proving my point.

I NEVER MENTIONED RACE BUT YOU CALLED ME FOR RACISM WHILST TRYING TO DISMISS "THE RACE CARD" - NICE WORK!

'Race Card' is the biggest cop out ever invented. If you don't want to be accused of racism, don't drag race into these videos. And don't praise rabid and violent racists. The below quotes are from this thread, not YouTube:

"Black people.. makin' [half of] me look bad"

"Listen to enough black comedians (Eddie Murphy to be precise) and you'll learn that much of their fighting consists of scaring the opponent in hopes that they don't actually fight."

Please explain to me how this kid's actions reflect on all black people? Again, why drag this into it? It's this kneejerk racism that gets me. And you want to defend it and EBM.

Danny, the guy yelled many racial epithets. Stop making EBM into Clark Kent. It was clear he wanted to instigate a fight. Anyone, but EBM's weaker, stupider prey, could see that that kid was outmatched.

Sorry to say this but there's a lot of sorry excuse making going on here, including you peggedbea who i'd expect more of.
So many people playing the race card, or trying to. Very easy to pass something off as racism, in fact in our society i think we fanatically adhere to anti-xenophobia to the point where we're dangerously on the other side of the line of fairness.
What this comes down to is one moron threatening a guy and getting his arse kicked within a reasonable limit. I'm not an expert in smack talk, slang or american accents but i didn't hear any racism from EBM, especially before any racism was thrown at him.
The guy moved away, he didn't want to fight, but some dickhead had to try and ruin someone's day, and he got his shit ruined.
You make me so angry making excuses for these fucking morons.. people like this guy (yes he's black but that's only an identifying characteristic, NOT RACISM) are the reason this world is going to shit. I hope he fucking chokes on his teeth, and i hope EBM can kick some more ass of people who go around thinking that they're untouchable and can do what they like without consequences.
What a disappointment, videosift. A guy defends himself from physical assault and you shout him down.

I have been accused of racism(anyone against obama racist?) (Politics Talk Post)

NetRunner says...

Wait, where in my video does Olbermann appear? Where does Jimmy Carter say everyone opposing Obama is racist?

For that matter, was what Olbermann said literally "everyone who opposes Obama is a racist", or was it more along the lines of "might the excessive vehemence of the opposition be partially fueled by racial animosity?"

Are we no longer allowed to ask the question "what role does race play in this"? Or is it now that people have to turn a blind eye to all racially charged subtexts out of fear of being accused of "playing the race card"?

Fuck that. For all the years I've heard people bitch about how "Political Correctness" is some sort of restraint on their speech, is it any different if the politics we're being correct about become "thou shalt not ever accuse anyone of racism"? There's a good reason to be "PC" -- it's about treating other people with respect. There's no good reason to launch into tirades at everyone who ever suggests that someone's actions may have been racially tinged.

Joe Wilson probably doesn't deserve the label "racist". Do I think there's a reason to suspect race played a role in why he's so worried about illegal immigrants benefiting from reform, and that Obama's race might have lowered his inhibitions a bit when it came to treating him with disrespect? Hell yes.

Do I think the sea of older, white, southern people who refuse to accept Obama as being born in the US are all racists? No. Do I think race plays a role for some of them either consciously or subconsciously? Yes.

Do I think Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift because he's a racist? No. Do I think he was bringing racial animosity to the event, and casting undeserved aspersions on the judges? Yes.

I get why this issue is a sensitive one, but people seriously have to stop acting as though the accuser is always the one who deserves scorn.
