ANTIFA Returns To Berkeley
Really? Ok, point out the antifa in that clip then. Please, show me the crazed lefty pointing his gun and firing at the peaceful Nazis and KKK, name the second and quadrant of the video frame...or any video of that. I'll gladly retract if you can. Waiting with bells on. ;-)
Edit: how sad, Bob. Watching on the bigger screen, I was able to find ONE masked man on the anti Nazi side....why couldn't you?
You got your rose color glasses on Newt.
Someone needs to explain this Far Side comic to me (Blog Entry by Sarzy)
The window panes are political quadrants. The lower right corner is punched out, indicating the man is anarcho-capitalist. The lamp is tilted toward the newspaper to bring light upon the Sri Lankan Civil War, which was set off by an ambush the day after this comic was published. (That's why the newspaper is blank. Nothing newsworthy compared to the following days/week.) The meat on the table symbolizes the impending carnage, as thousands would die, and 150,000 made homeless.

You thought correctly. What a blast.
Even despite your recommendation, I expected it to be a run-of-the-mill action flick. Mucho pow pow, cheesy zingers everywhere... the usual. So it was all the more captivating when it turned out to be a proper dystopian cesspool of desperation.
When Dredd lured a group of them to a terminal, covered them in what looked like Willie Pete and set half the quadrant on fire -- that's cold. And if I didn't know Lena Headey to have quite the rock 'n roll personality, I'd be worried by how naturally the persona of an ice-cold murderer seems to come to her. Both Urban and Headey, now that I think about it. Very disturbing indeed.
Anyway, great recommendation, would have never touched it otherwise.
i think you will enjoy it immensely.

Dutch journalist Jeroen Akkermans keeps uploading scores of pictures taken at the MH17 crash site to his Flickr account. No corpses, just debris -- no warning neccessary.
A few interesting pictures, if you don't mind amateur forensics:
- left wing, top side: damaged by debris coming from the fuselage at an outward trajectory
- window panel, aft-most cockpit window, port side: shredded by shrapnel, downward trajectory?
- second door from the front, port side: no damage from shrapnel or debris
- port-side hatch of the forward landing gear: no damage
So, explosion in the foward-left quadrant, above the cockpit?
I know, I know -- wild speculation, utterly without a point. But it's infinitly less depressing than looking at the latest pictures from Gaza. Bad days to be a news junkie...
Edit: rear door, starboard side -- no damage
noam chomsky-confronted by right wing zombie
Ahhhh, he must be a drone of the Cult of the Grand HR Machine in action. Simultaneously knocking down radical ideas and then capitalizing upon the innovations of the radical.
Intellectuals are specific cogs for creating ideas. But! their ideas should be designated for their specific quadrant of weapons/systems engineering and never seep into political culture.
WARNING, Noam Chomsky, your views violate the nature of the GHRM.
The GHRM has determined you no longer qualify as a person. Your designation is now: food. Be happy and exercise the remainder of your free will:
Would you like to be converted into solid food or liquefied supplements?
I'm going to make a VS political compass chart for fun. (Politics Talk Post)
In America, the word "libertarian" has come to mean conservative libertarian (lower right quadrant) and the word "liberal" means left libertarian (lower left quadrant). This is why Neo Conservatives, Neo Liberals, Anti War Capitalists, Anti Capitalist Anarchists and Social Democrats can all consider themselves libertarian. Everyone has their own idea of what liberty means and how to achieve it, be it war, capitalism or democracy.
Also, you can have liberty FROM something (negative liberty) and liberty TO DO something (positive liberty). Both are important. Left libertarianism is more about the positive (equality, civil rights, healthcare, education, social safety net), right libertarianism is more about negative liberty ("individual liberty" -a loaded term imo, lower taxes, less regulation, smaller government, austerity).
I don't think this test is run by libertarians, though I could be wrong. I believe this is the quiz they give at the American Libertarian Party boothf, which is far more dubious and leading: http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz

Mchurglork: Honey, it says here in the guidebook that there is a famous human landmark below us.
Rh'knobknorp: Cool. Let's check it out.
Mchurglork: Is that it? Just a primitive religious structure?
Rh'knobknorp: Booooooring!
Mchurglork: Yeah, let's get out of here and go check out that naked singularity in the Drux Sfnigfhort quadrant.
TED Talks: Rory Sutherland On The Importance Of Small Things
Interesting. Instead of 'Strategy' in the top right quadrant and '???' in the bottom right quadrant, I would have "bad ideas" and "good ideas" respectively.
If it costs a lot of money, then you are losing money, thus "bad idea". If it costs a negative amount, then you are making money, thus "good idea".
I realize he was talking about the cost to the consumer, and not the company, but I can't make any sense of what a negative cost to the consumer would mean. Free would be zero cost; can you have less than free? More free stuff?
The Uncanny Valley also applies to cats!
while creepy, it does lack the whole hairball/pissing in your shoes quadrant of the real thing so props there!

Jeeeez ant, what were you looking for when you found this?...and who but a wonderful geekazoidinal freak would do this to their coworkers, forever burning the image into their worker-bee consciousnesses??? That guy needs to ask for a raise or look for another job, however it went over that fateful day back in awt-nine at office 6Z7469 Core-Quadrant Tango.
I used to work with him.

The most amazing photo ever taken
^ Because galaxies are the only structures large enough to show up at those distances. Stars from our own galaxy that lie in the foreground of the image have a kind of cross shaped lens flare, as in this deep field image (bottom left quadrant):

LOL one person thinks Voyager was the best. If you removed Seven of Nine it would be the shittiest show on television.
That one person would be me. I found that Voyager actually had a GOAL! You know, like something to work towards.
Fucking around in the neutral zone? Meh. Data? Overrated. Picard? Bald.
Don't get me wrong, I really liked TNG, grew up on it in my formative years.
But none of that can compare with Species 8472. Or alliances with the Borg. Or the Delta Quadrant.
Intrepid Class>Galaxy Class
And this is hard to beat.
The Political Compass (Politics Talk Post)
My score was -6.75, -4.46 - which would put me in the lower left quadrant (lefty libertarian).
Almost smack dab on Nelson Mandela!

I think that's an interesting idea, but how is that different from just taking the current left-right definition (all about the size of government) and making it a 3rd axis?
Why can't that axis really be decomposed into a vector of the social and economic axes?
Positive values on the social axis call for more government involvement, and less on the economic. Perhaps they should just flip the x-axis around, and say positive values correlate to more government involvement (though that would destroy the natural left-right order it has now).
Adding the 3rd axis leads to weird combinations; is it really possible to be economicly collectivist, socially conservative, and politically libertarian?
It seems like you're just trying to superimpose your view of the left-right axis onto the system. In fairness, I think that's because you generally view your positions on economic and social issues as being derived from your political philosophy, whereas I generally feel like my political philosophy is derived from my views on economic and social issues.
The chart is more about measuring the kinds of concrete goals you have for the way society should work, than about the means you think it will take to get society there. Maybe it's a weakness in the system's ability to discern political party sympathies, but people in the 4th quadrant are pretty much all going to self-identify as libertarian or "independent". At least, in the US.
