Trump’s Loyalties

newtboy says...

Bob, you ignorant slut

Putin invaded Crimea before Trump, true, and we eventually responded with harsh sanctions under Obama/Biden (not as harsh as now, we had less support). Trump’s people, before taking office, were on tape promising to remove any sanctions as soon as he took office, a crime btw and what Flynn went down for….then he recognized Russian Crimea halting any further international response.
Oh, and let’s not forget withholding military aid as they were being invaded to blackmail the Ukrainians into making up lies about and fake investigations into Biden.

It’s utterly asinine to pretend Putin wouldn’t expect the go ahead from Trump, who is cheerleading him on as we speak, offering high praise for the genius invasion, and have his full cooperation in blocking NATO from responding. Trump never once opposed or contradicted Putin. Not a bit surprising it’s your position. You are so gullible…and ignorant.

Putin DID invade Ukraine under Trump you moron. His forces were already in the Provence/states he declared independent, and have been for years. It was a smaller force, not full scale invasion, but his military was present and controlled the areas.
He’s escalating now, he says, because NATO is being strengthened (thanks largely to Biden, despite Trump wanting out of NATO) and he’s scared shitless that Ukraine will join and get help crushing the Russia backed separatists, quickly followed by other ex soviet satellites.

Putin is pausing that escalation now because of the strong response from Biden and our NATO allies.

How’re Trump’s criminal charges and civil cases doing? LMFAHS!!!

Putin didn't invade under Trump. He did however invade with sleep Joe behind the wheel.

How's Biden favorably rating doing?

Mussels Provencal (Steamed Mussels in a White Wine Sauce)

Exactly! That's what I figured. But even prepping things like mirepoix is considered to be 'caramelizing', which involves no sugar and just simply cooked in oil.

I try caramelizing onions in olive oil without sugar, but then that would be 'sauteing'. And if I brown them, it just simply tastes a little burnt. Nothing caramel about that sucker.

it's my guess that maybe you can only caramelize certain types of onions.

Don't you have to add a little brown sugar to caramelise? And sweating the onions off is cokking them in oil on a low to medium heat so they become transparent

Meteor lights up the west-Canadian sky

StukaFox says...

Canadian citizens awoke today to the tragic news that an overnight meteorite impact failed to destroy Alberta. Eyewitnesses say the Armpit of Canada was still exactly where it was last night before they went to bed, despite being impacted by roughly 1/2 ton of falling space rocks.

"Oh, geeze -- the least it coulda done was take out Saskatchewan, eh?" said Calgary resident Bob Horton. "Perfectly good meteorite impact and it didn't even scorch Edmonton! What do we gotta do to get ridda this place, eh? Can't the Americans test nuclear weapons or something here? I mean, talk about Hoserville!"

The Prime Minister said free beer and back-bacon would be provided to the sufferers of the non-destruction of the Provence. Further, he said Canada would look into the idea of carving a giant target into Alberta's endless wheat fields in case there's another bollide looking for a place to impact.

Great Moments in Cinema - Indigènes (Days of Glory)

gwaan says...

Few films can claim a change in government policy among their achievements. But Indigènes (Days Of Glory) by Rachid Bouchareb has made an impact at the highest level. The 128-minute film focuses on the actions of Moroccan and Algerian men who fought alongside French soldiers to liberate France from the Nazis in World War II. As well as inspiring French President Jacques Chirac to reintroduce pensions for France's North African war veterans, and recognise their vital contribution to victory, the lead actors gave such a strong performance that they were jointly honoured with the Best Actor award at Cannes this year.

The story:

1944-1945 - The liberation of Italy, Provence, the Alps, the Rhone Valley, Vosges, and Alsace was essential if the allies were to achieve victory. The assault was led by the First French Army, recruited in Africa in order to avoid the control of the German commissioners and the Vichy authorities. It was made up of around 200,000 men, including 130,000 “indigenes” (natives) - 110,000 North Africans and 20,000 Africans. The rest of the men were two thirds “pieds- noirs” (French colonials) and one third young frenchmen who had fled the occupation. Days of Glory focuses on the African/Arab volunteers who were subject to much racism and bigotry within the French army ranks even though they were willing to fight for a country they had never before stepped foot on. Victory, and the subsequent advance on Germany, was only achieved after much bloodshed and great losses.

The film relates the forgotten story of the soldiers known as “Indigènes” following the epic adventures of four of them: Abdelkader, Saïd, Messaoud and Yassir (le goumier) a mobile corps, reputed for their endurance, ground sense , and courage in close combat. They are sent to the front line. Each one is in pursuit of a different objective throughout the passage across France which they liberate, arms in hand.

Yassir joined for the booty he expected to collect.

Messaoud was surprised by the welcome from the French. He hopes to marry and live in France, to escape the arpatheid in Algeria.

Saïd wishes to escape poverty in Morocco, and hopes to find a family in the French army.

And Abdelkader who is fighting for liberty and equality, in joining the French army he hopes for France’s recognition, and more justice towards the colonised Algerians once the war is over.
