Looks like a young prairie dog. Chipmunks would be smaller with stripes on their back and bigger tails. Ground squirrels have bigger tails as well.

That is magical. I watched it six times and laughed harder every time. It's almost as good as Drama Prairie Dog or the Narcoleptic cat.

Well when I was a young Sifter there were only TWO videos on YouTube: The Dramatic Prairie Dog and Rick Roll. And nobody complained and we liked it!

seriously though, you always seem to be be the one that finds "those clips" that belong on any video site. It really is uncanny. I suppose that's your job though, eh?

How do I do it? I guess a big part of it is to try to stay on your toes and check everything that crosses your mind for a connection to a video somehow.

In the case of the Tribbles clip it was pure luck: Saw a clip of a little dog on cuteoverload.com with a reference to Tribbles and wondered if the sift has that clip. I was really surprised to find out it did not yet. Then finding the clip and submitting took about 30 seconds.

Could be triggerd by anything though. A news story, somebody on the street that reminds you of an actor, hearing a line from a 20 year old standup act, smelling something that reminds you of childhood, ANYTHING!

It's true that it's the same clip, but someone added the dramatic prairie dog music to add to the silly factor.

You completely missed the point, and I don't have the energy to explain it other than by saying that I was not suggesting that the videos were upvoted because the people were male. I'm just pointing out the general underrepresentation of women in all forms of media. And when a women DOES happen to be popular it is often has a lot to do with her being pretty. And that's okay, really. Men like to look at pretty women. That's natural. I like to look at pretty men, too.

But did you read my comments of what a nice job sifters did of focusing on the factors that were deep and meaningful rather than shallow. Really. It was nicely done. I like VideoSift men a lot more than most.
