Huckabee is Not a Homophobe, but...

enoch says...

why is @Darkhand 's comment so hard to comprehend?
i would even take it a step further, because i have done it,and point the customer to another venue who would better serve them.

no muss.
no fuss.
and nobodies wittle feewings got hurt.

now if we take @Hanover_Phist 's analogy.
well thats a whole different animal.thats about integrity.
if i have committed myself to a venue,i honor my promises.if something about that venue bothers me then i better suck it up and maybe next time pay closer attention to who i was dealing with at the time of contract negotiations (been there as well).

so the disagreement between darkhand and hanover are really semantics and not relevant to each other.

and @VoodooV ,you are confusing 'artist" with "whore"....difference.

though there is no shortage of "artists" who "whore" themselves, but im gonna guess that darkhand is not one of those artists.

come to think of it,i can see how that can be confusing looking at the current state of art in regards to pop culture....

fuck me im getting old...and cranky.

dont judge me!
and get off my lawn!

Martin Freeman in New Series 'Fargo'

FlowersInHisHair says...

I'm not sure. Fargo is a great film, one of my favourites, but it's old now and it's hardly a great big cash-cow franchise, so it seems like more of a gamble than a safe-bet. I mean, I'll bet the mainstream audience don't remember the film at all, let alone fondly enough to make a series a sure-fire winner. I hope the writers have a good story up their sleeves.

"Pop culture on the skids", if you want to put it that way, is better exemplified by another reboot of Battlestar Galactica (happening) or a series based on C-tier characters from the Marvel Universe (Agents of Shield) or the new Spider-Man film series. Or a Nirvana/Kurt Cobain musical (also on the cards). Compared to all that crap, a Fargo series sounds brand-new.

Can't stand politics. Apolitical. In a reasonable world, politicians would be rounded-up and placed in internment camps awaiting trial for crimes against humanity....Or wait, that's too harsh-Dress 'em in clown make-up, strip 'em naked and toss em one by one into oncoming roller-derby traffic for a few healthy rounds of clothes-hanging.

'No Country' and 'True Grit' of the last 7 films (did love the scenes with Richard Jenkins and J.K.Simmons though in Burn After Reading, otherwise that film was simply hard to watch) and of course Lebowski and O brother....but seriously....Inside Llewyn Davis? What more of a complete piece of shit can one imagine?

Imagine if you will, two Jewish men driving down the street laughing at people while throwing burning hundred-dollar bills out the window.

A series as a nod to Fargo screams rehash of pop-culture on the fucking skids and a reason to spend your cable money on learning to plasma-weld or something.....

Welcome back BTW @volumptuous. Still got yer Aunt Jemima Cookie Jar

Last time I tried to vote they turned me away at the polls in that rigged election-machine Gore/Bush election back in 2000....I was gonna write-in a made-up name. I realized that year that my mission was to decry all presidential elections as complete and utter farce and an insult to the collective consciousness.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer 2

poolcleaner says...

Story of our pop cultural existence is that it's always been bullshit, we just don't see it until it's magnified in the public eye. Anyway, I love this stuff -- bullshit or not.

Comics is fer kids and our entitled, half-sentimental reactions betray the weight we wish these stories had.

I find quiet a few things wrong with this trainer/movie.
Days of Future Past? wtf is this? are we using james bond movie titles now?
Jennifer Lawrence does not suit as a younger Rebecca Romijn.
The whole movie does not feel like previous xmen movies.
Unless it'll be 3+ hours long, they can't do justice to address time travel topic.

Sarah Silverman Hurt By Jonah Hill's Roast Jibes

dirkdeagler7 says...

I could understand wanting to express that it struck a nerve especially if asked about it. But it seems that if it is really something you didn't want to dissuade people from doing based on your principles, profession, or in the name of comedy...then why the talks about pop culture and women and hiding? Wouldn't you just say "yeah those were some zingers that stung, but that is comedy and I love comedy too much to hate on this form of it" and leave it at that?

Instead it seems like the follow up discussion is a way of saying "making fun of women's ages can be a sort of oppression and it's sad...I mean I'm not saying don't do it cause I would NEVER say that, I just think it's a shame pop culture does that." Which is essentially speaking out against it without having to actually make a stand against it?

btw I have nothing against SS and if these jokes weren't about another comedian I totally get it, but when it comes to comedians and comedy I've come to expect them to have an "all's fair and we should embrace that" kind of attitude about comedy...otherwise who gets to decide which shades of grey are allowed within the profession?

Duck Dynasty Butthole Logic

eric3579 says...

I think this video says more about this guys fascination with "fame" then anything else. Hes talking about some hick that happens to be on TV. Stupid people say stupid shit ALL THE TIME. The guy hes talking about just happens to be on TV. STOP worshiping pop culture and or their fame.

I have a bit of a buzz (had a bit of a drink...anxiety issues) so i might redact this at a later time but for now this guy just annoys me.

I Used To Be With It

SDGundamX says...

I thank VideoSift for keeping me up to date with important pop-culture milestones like dubstep and Miley Cyrus twerking at the MTV awards show (things I never would have seen otherwise).

In the last few years I found myself constantly wondering how long ago certain things happened. It still blows my mind that Jurassic Park is 20 fucking years old now. I still clearly remember watching in the theater. Or buying the VHS tape. I'm getting old.
Funny thing is, I'm more "with it" than quite a few younger people I know. I'm always puzzled when people in their early 20s don't know who Miley Cyrus is or what dubstep sounds like. One time a colleague from work came to me telling me excitedly about Harlem Shake videos and all I could think was "this is soo yesterday and over, get with the times man". How can they not know this? I do.
Maybe I'm bound to be a hip old man. Weird.

DED Talk: A TED Talk For Zombies

chingalera says...

Pop culture zombie apocalypse scenarios of the last 10 years in cinema and televisions' a metaphorical foreshadowing of what will happen in America after the first week of a national teamsters strike. No groceries for a couple weeks would make the Walking Dead look like some day care field trip. You too, Europa...

The zombies are already in place, you simply need to cut-off food supplies to activate them.
