Yeah... question: Why do you hate America?

I just have to giggle at seeing yet another person say "Obama is doing things he said he wouldn't do". Which things are those?

I'm sure Obama's laundry list of lies is just as long as any politician, and I know I've heard a few. Here's a guy who has a list of 100, which is probably a bit more nitpicky than necessary.

Okay then, if libertarians differ from the Republican-style right wing with regard to ponce's critique, what are the issues that people are most concerned about, and what are the governmental policies you would enact to solve them?

You don't see Libertarians in favor of this war. You do, however, see Democrats in favor of it. You don't see Libertarians in favor of drug laws, but you do you see Dems in favor of them. Libertarians despise inequality and are in favor of ensuring all men (and women) are equal regardless of sexual or religious orientation. Dems vote in favor of denying gays' rights to marriage.

Who now is closer to the Republicans? Certainly not the Libertarian. We're classic Liberals. We disagree with Democratic and Republican violence and tyranny. We embrace freedom for everyone. Any questions?

There are things lefties didn't like that Obama clearly promised to do (ramp up the number of troops in Afghanistan, "look forward" with regard to Bush administration crimes, refuse to try for a single-payer healthcare plan, etc.). There are things Obama had promised that he hasn't done yet that we wish he'd move faster on (close Guantanamo, overturn DADT, implement cap & trade). But he hasn't started any preemptive wars, or implemented any kind of health care reform, much less one that "forces other people to pay for it" (which isn't in the offing at all if you're paying even casual attention to what both sides are saying).

It's not like Obama is a monarch. Those of you who claim to believe in limited government should be just fine with the idea that Obama can't snap his fingers and reshape the country in the first 6 months after becoming President.

This country's left-leaning grassroots are trying to build popular support for our ideas, so we can put them into place. Libertarians and Republicans seem to think they can skip that step for some reason. As far as my own political agenda is concerned, I hope you continue to think that for decades to come.

I'm not saying that the democrats have it right, I'm just saying that the erroneous title of this video doesn't change the fact that the conservative right in this country is out of touch and has no real solutions to the problems we are in, still they have nothing but criticism for an alternative view, rather than trying to do something different and giving it a chance...

>> ^blankfist:
I'm a bit confused. Libertarians aren't conservatives. They're classic liberals.

Constantine-lucifer confronts gabriel (spoiler)

budzos says...

Ponce, it's not a love-it-or-hate-it movie. In the comic book nerd discussions I've had with people who actually read the Alan Moore or Garth Ennis stuff (important, if you've read other shit you probably read some bad comics), most people look at it this way: It's a fine movie, a good movie, but a bad Hellblazer adaptation. And it is a bad Hellblazer adaptation. You say you're not crazy about the comic to begin with. So the fact that you prefer the movie to the comics (which you keep saying you're not all that familiar with) doesn't make it a good adaptation.

See, I could make Commando and call it an adaptation of All My Children. I'm sure many people would prefer my movie to the source material, but that would not make it a good adaptation.

She'd never love you back ponce, unless you could magically appear in her room disguised as a jewish carpenter.
Then she'd fuck your brains out... for JESUS.

Actually funny you should mention that because I was just having another conversation with a sifter about the fact that while I'm fairly agnostic, I'm still "jewish." Maybe if I put on the getup and grow a beard I can get lucky with this fine woman!
I think the thing is that the crazy ones attract me... they tend to be the best in bed...

I agree with you I bet shed screw you six ways to Sunday. Is that how the saying goes?

Cop Slams Innocent Man Head First Into a Wall

ShakyJake says...

>> ^ponceleon:
Sorry sofaking. You are just wrong. From the video, it is pretty clear they guy is just standing there at the point where the cop body-fucking-slams him against a concrete wall.

But for how long? If you think you can throw your hands up and surrender mere seconds before being tackled, then you're one hell of an optimist, Ponce. It would take at least that long for the sprinting cop just to stop, let alone having registered the fact that the man was giving up. Maybe he is a bully who was just looking for an excuse to bodyslam some poor schmuck with the authority given with his badge, but the result would likely have been the same even if he wasn't.

I don't know anything about "standard procedure", but I know plenty about physics, and enough to recognize some serious wishful thinking exhibited here. If this cop is truly guilty of the wrongful use of force in this case, then I'm guilty of murder for every deer I've ever hit with my car for not stopping in time.

hope you got a chuckle at my use of art critic vernacular. i was trying to work in the terms mise en scene and negative space, but decided it was already silly enough as is.

> Thank you for the kind words!
yw! enjoyed watching you finish up the yellow submarine before, as well.

> If I could do it again I'd make ponce a little stockier. Maybe for his diamond
yes, yes. by then he will have grown fat and complacent. then we will strike, and release the flying monkey army. all in good time.

first off, wow, nicole! superlative duplication of avatar details, and extending into the unknown space of their forms. plus i love how you incorporated the Sydney Opera House into the composition.

obsidian happens to be the first sifter on the probie donations list, and i've frequently enjoyed rhesus' commentary here. but since you're both at 100, ponce gets the congratulatory promote this time:
