When Porn actress Belladonna meets a Spanish painter.

quantumushroom says...

Disclaimer: I like pr0n as much as the next dude and think hooking should be legal.

However, I hate the fascist dehumanizing element which seems to have become the standard, and hate even more the mainstreaming and glamorization of the pr0n "lifestyle" as legitimate theater.

Pr0n has its place, but if it's such a life-affirming industry then the "stars" wouldn't be drugging and drinking--and occasionally diseasing--themselves to death.

Pr0n is a useful poison; far less useful than other poisons. As for the rest of these clever comments, open mic night is on Thursday(s).

The problem is "right and wrong" doesn't return after the camera stops, either.

You got an example of how Belladonna's wronged the world?

You also have to consider that many, many newer languages have their roots in C. And many share the same (or similar) syntax since C is used as their model (C++, Java, Javascript, C#, Perl, D, etc...). But, I definitely disagree that C is past its prime. It is still used everywhere, not just embedded programming. It's used for drivers, OS kernels, windows apps, shell apps, compilers, interpreters, windowed desktop managers, etc, etc, etc... It's not great for RAD though, that's for sure!
C rullz!!

Yes, it's still used everywhere. No, that's not a good thing. 99% of the time you read about some security vulnerability being patched, there'll be a C buffer overrun there.

Is it still a useful tool? Absolutely. When you get down to the really low level stuff, it's everywhere and the reason it's everywhere is because it's so trivial to write a compiler for. But for the majority of people, there's simply no reason to use it and yet many still do, hence we have security issues, applications that leak memory and painters algorithms everywhere.

Writing a program in C is like preparing a meal with fugu. In the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, you can have a great meal, but get it wrong and you poison your guests.

I've booked ten films. Some of my choices had to do with staying at one location. The venues are scattered across town.

Brighton Rock
Eames: The Architect and the Painter
How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster?
Magic Trip
Melancholia
Sahkanaga
Take Shelter
The Hedgehog
The Mortician
Vigilante, Vigilante: The Battle for Expression

The other titles will go into my Netflix queue.

Atheist's Best Kept Secret

I'm always amused at the painting requires a painter, creation requires a creator argument that Ray loves so much. Of course, the creator never seems to need to be created. Funny how they always leave that bit out.

Sixty Symbols - Watching paint dry

Sagemind says...

As an artist and a painter, there is nothing new here that I didn't already know or understand.
I had hoped he would zoom in more and identify the bonding precess of the latex particles.

Different types of paints bond differently. (oil, water colours, latex, acrylic, gouache, egg)

Acrylic is quite different than most paints as once the medium evaporates and the pigment binds, it cannot be redissolved.Once the barrier between the pigment particles is removed, the pigments bond to one another to become a larger particle, on and on until the paint is dry and the particles form one large piece of solid plastic - never again to be separated.

Water Colours have no binders in them at all so once the water evaporates, the pigment just drys on the paper. Re-introducing water again will lift the pigment again as the process starts over. (minus pigment particles that get caught in the tooth of the paper.)

Oil paints stick together in linseed oil and are bonded by the linseed. It causes a strong bond but oil paint can be dissolved again using the right solvents. A varnish is used not to adhere (or fix) the pigment but to both hide linseed imperfections and to protect the paint surface from scratches.

Latex paint is a rubber (unlike plastic acrylics) and the process for the drying is different again. Anyone ever watch a foam rubber pour?

With all the differences, this video gives a rather slim and elementary vision of what is going on. It's more a document of evaporation more than anything as we watch the water dissipate and leave the pigment behind to stack on itself.

I would really like to have seen the actual pigments bonding with each other. I would also have liked to have seen different paints in comparison.
