The Future of Travel

Getting tired of this trend of overacting-facial expression-gestures-emphasizing... thing. Or maybe is just me, getting older, but the more I see, the more I tend to think there's less and less real personality in this world. Everyone is hiding behind the same mask?
As a result I couldn't enjoy what it seems to be a nice piece of our future.
Both where equally annoying.

Extreme(ly stupid) exorcism: spit out the demons!

braindonut says...

Whoah... hemorrhoids demons?! Those must be terrifying.

I wonder how they'd react if someone said they had to pee their demons out. Everyone knows that's the only way to get rid of the overactive bladder demons.

Nuke'em again.

Hmm I guess you'd also like to see Jews in concentration camps again for circumcising their children? Or American Indians to move because they stand in the way of progress? Hacking off of limbs for crimes?

Think before you type, you something that would get me banned

Shut up. If you don't like inane obviously stupid statements said for overactive comic effect then you need to get off the internet.

There's a button for that. If you don't know how to use a button you need to get off the internet.

I don't care...I don't care what you think I don't care what you do. Shut up and leave me alone.

I heard "nobody's helping me!" at one point...

... which reminded me of Dave Chappelle's bit about how uncool it is to laugh at Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street; "Bitch, I live in a fucking trash can! I'm the poorest motherfucker on Sesame Street. Nobody's helpin' me."

I may have an overactive imagination.

Jean-Luc Picard 2012.

Seconded!
I forgot how good of an actor patrick stewart became through ST. I just was watching some season 1 and 2, and he is so bad, a ton of overacting. But later on, he nails it perfectly. It is kind of fun watching his evolution from Broadway to silver screen.

I completely agree that Patrick Stewart became a better television actor through being on Star Trek but his real talent came from his years as a stage actor. Much like Andreas Katsulas and Ian McKellen who also gained their excellent talents from theatre I think Patrick Stewart was a powerful and compelling actor before he ever stepped into the shoes of Picard!

Did anyone see Patrick Stewart and David Tennant's performance of Hamlet that was running in 2008 and 2009? Very good, didn't get to go since tickets were scarce for every venue and every night but the BBC filmed it and released it at the end of last year.

Also let's not forget his appearance in Robin Hood: Men in Tights; or the 1984 version of Dune!

Olympic Pictograms

Skeeve says...

I'd love to see the same pictograms judged by someone who isn't a "designer". These images are made to please the fans of the games, not those with an overactive sense of the aesthetic.

I know lots of people would say the Sydney boomerang style ones were a lot cooler than the rather plain Chinese ones. Same goes for the Salt Lake City ones, which this guy seems to fail just because they had straight lines.

Designers, critics, specialists, etc. rarely seem to have the same tastes as the masses these things were made for.

Glen Beck Cries For A Simpler Time

IronDwarf says...

Just because things seemed "simpler" and "more pure" doesn't mean they ever were; you were just young and mostly ignorant of what was happening in the world. This bullshit nostalgia and sentimentality that reinforces that times were somehow better and that we were better off is just that: bullshit. Glenn Beck needs to shut his fat, lying, phony, overacting goddamn mouth.

For some reference, a few things that happened in 1979 (the year that Coke ad aired): Three Mile Island, Ayatollah Khomeini seizes power in Iran, the Sino-Vietnamese War, the San Francisco riots over the Dan White verdict, the Ixtoc I oil spill. That's just a few things in the first 6 months of the year. Great times back then.
