It's interesting how much better the orginal clips look and feel the moment the CGI and bad actors disappear.

Well I was *hoping* the story behind the clip wasn't too unpleasant but we know what jails can be like. I think the orginal popularity of the clip is the desire to feel that maybe life isn't always treacherous and unpleasant in these places.

The orginal story and final twist loses a lot via this sort of adaptation.

Anyone else think they should have kept the orginal towers in some way? (not torn them down, but rebuilt elsewhere?)

Has anyone ever thought that someone with a controller nearby could be doing this? You could easily film him "beating" the game by having a buddy doing it. After all the orginal nintendo came with two controllers. I think I might do a spoof video of myself doing this.

I have to admit, being Canadian, I was ashamed of not knowing the origins of the term "hoser", but thanks to this video and Wikipedia I have been informed.

"Like the very similar term hosehead, it originally referred to farmers of the Canadian prairies, who would siphon gas from farming vehicles with a hose during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The expression has since been converted to the verb 'to hose' as in to trick, deceive, or steal - for example: "That card-shark sure hosed me." Hosed has an additional meaning of becoming drunk - for example: "Let's go out and get hosed."

The term "hoser" refers to a period before the ice resurfacing machine. The losing team had to hose off the ice. The term "hoser" can then be construed to mean loser.

Alternatively, the term may orginate as a variation of "loser"; in amateur games of hockey the losing team would have to "hose down" the rink, resurface the ice with a water hose."

Yeah: the original 'gameplay' video (above) was a little disappointing due to them changing various units near the end of development (as said in the presentation). I think the story FMV makes up for the slightly bland in-game shots...and the second is much better - but I thought the first is a logical place to start (especially for the story since the orginal). I'll change the link to the Gameplay Trailer #2 (with Kane, also linked above) if Sifters prefer it?

And Supreme Commander looks OK Farhad...but C&C will always be the original, and the best in my opinion (despite the fact Westwood Studios is now under EA!) Plus, as you said: "Oh Tanya, oh NOD obelisk, Oh the memories" - well Kane & his Obelisk of Light are back!

Hey, the video appears to have been discarded because of a problem with our code in relations to dead calls. The video was orginally a youtube video, and has been swapped out. The youtube video certainly was no longer working. I will return this to the front.

I guess the issue I'm thinking about is this - I've had a couple posts get past the dupe detection, so it's not perfect. This dupe post is an example
- it didn't find the orginal.
I had searched for dominos too.. I thought this was a new killer entry. I see the problem now- dominos vs. dominoes.

I assume the dupe detection works is additive - the more tags match, the higher the ranking. So, searching for an indidual tag (dominos), even Ajax-style, has less value than a compound key search (tag1..tagN,title)

Guess I'll do a workaround on my part- do a quick pass on tags and title, check for dupes, then wordsmith if necessary. Thanks for the discussion.
