FOX Reporter's Attempt to Ambush Bill Moyers Backfires

11927 says...

Liberals dominate the media....this has been announced by Rush Limbaugh. And Thomas Sowell. And Ann Coulter. And Rich Lowry. And Bill O'Reilly. And William Safire. And Robert Novak. And William F. Buckley, Jr. And George Will.

And John Gibson. And Michelle Malkin. And David Brooks. And Tony Snow. And Tony Blankely. And Fred Barnes. And Britt Hume. And Larry Kudlow. And Sean Hannity. And David Horowitz. And William Kristol. And Hugh Hewitt.

And Oliver North. And Joe Scarborough. And Pat Buchanan. And John McLaughlin. And Cal Thomas. And Joe Klein. And James Kilpatrick. And Tucker Carlson. And Deroy Murdock. And Michael Savage. And Charles Krauthammer. And Stephen Moore. And Alan Keyes.

And Gary Bauer. And Mort Kondracke. And Andrew Sullivan. And Nicholas von Hoffman. And Neil Cavuto. And Matt Drudge. And Mike Rosen. And Dave Kopel. And John Caldara.

The mainstream media in this country are dominated by liberals. Look at how they all gave Bill Clinton a pass on the whole Monica Lewsinsky affair. Remember? It was never in the news. We never heard any of the salacious details.

Sciendepence Day (Science Talk Post)

Qruel: I'm amazed that everything has to have a conspiracy behind it. Quite frankly I think it blinds you so much that you fail to look at evidence that contradicts your claims. And honestly, the copy-paste that you do from googled articles gets old. Have an original thought about your conspiracy laden agenda that's what I'd like to hear. You can use Joe Scientist to support a claim but pasting what he said is lazy and shows lack of thought on your part.

Rembar: I can see where this would start to bug you but the repeated and pointed attacks are becoming a bit tiresome. Yes there isn't much science to it, but it's the best category qruel can find till someone makes a 'conspiracys' or 'health' channel.

Gorgonheap: You don't need to get involved in this squabble. Why don't you just take a jump of the longest pier with some concrete shoes.

Rocky: Adrian isn't that good looking but eventually she'll leave you. after she leaves you she'll settle down with Jack Nicholas in a remote winter lodge where her husband will write a book titled "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy". It will never be published.

I Wouldn't Steal A Purse, But I Do Download Films

dannym3141 says...

I'm no expert on the film industry or their salaries, so i'm going to make a completely ineducated point.

The problem that i have is that certain people in the film industry want to make an absolute killing. I want people to be payed what they deserve, for the quality of the content they produce, and for the role that they play in that production.

Someone, somewhere, is getting a whopping great salary for doing not very much, and for every person down the line that squeezes a bit more money that they don't deserve out of the film, the end cost is going to increase further and further. Until the guy running the cinema realises that he's going to have to charge me £8 so that he can make a profit (and maybe he's over-egging that price as well).

I just checked and The Matrix made 1 billion (1x10^9) dollars from cinema stuff alone. Forget all the merchandise, royalties, box sets, reduxes, editions, and whatever else. I want to know whose pockets that lined. Cos when i have to pay £15-20 for a DVD, my pockets aren't gonna be lined for very long.

I've got 2 things to say in conclusion;
1. If you're supplying something that's not fair, people are going to say "screw you!" There's a lot of assholes out there who're out for all they can get, but there's also a lot of non-assholes out there who are tired of paying £20 for a DVD, or £10 to see a film that turns out to be absolute garbage.
2. The price has to reflect the quality! If Half-Life (1) had cost £80 when it first came out, and i had known that, today, i would STILL be playing that damn game, i would have given them twice as much.

To see The Matrix, i would have payed £10 happily. To see "National Treasure 2", i wouldn't expect to be paying more than £3. But they both cost me the same (excusing inflation). And the people responsible for presenting it to me still made a lot of money. Whereas they SHOULD be picking up a small amount of money, and a lesson to make better films in future if they want more money.

There's flaws in my argument - i don't care. I'm sick of being fleeced. And i want Nicholas Cage to provide services to myself to cover his £7 arrears.[/rant]

Yves Behar Talks About the $100 Laptop

grahamslam says...

"India has decided against getting involved in Nicholas Negroponte's One Laptop Per Child scheme - which aims to provide kids in developing countries with a simple $100 machine.

The success of the project depends on support, and big orders, from governments. The loss of such a potentially huge, and relatively technically sophisticated market, will be a serious blow.

The Indian Ministry of Education dismissed the laptop as "pedagogically suspect". Education Secretary Sudeep Banerjee said: "We cannot visualise a situation for decades when we can go beyone the pilot stage. We need classrooms and teachers more urgently than fancy tools."

Banerjee said if money were available it would be better spent on existing education plans."

Arvana - can you seriously think this is all being done "not for profit" ? Maybe not for YOUR profit, but someone stands to make quite a large sum of money on the manufacturing, sales, implementation, etc. Amazing that these billion dollar companies want YOUR money to fund it...lol

Thanks for the info on G1G1 arvana, many of us have been vocally asking for that for a couple of years, and Nicholas kept saying "no, only for kids".

I just ordered one, $400 is not cheap (I could buy a super low end lappy for that), but to play with all the interesting features, as well as help the project, it's worth it.

Yves Behar Talks About the $100 Laptop

arvana says...

It's hard for me to believe that anyone would trashtalk this fantastic project. It has the potential to fundamentally change people's lives. From what I understand, the program includes providing wireless internet access with the laptops, and their mesh network allows them to transfer data via other laptops even if they are out of direct range.

For those who want to have one, or contribute, there is a "Give One, Get One" promotion happening until the end of this month, in which you buy two and donate one or both. All of this is being done not for profit.

The laptop uses a Linux operating system with lots of useful software built in. That's another thing that is great, it's entirely open source, so their development is open-ended and expandable.

And what has been happening so far with these machines, apparently, is that kids with no prior access to computers are taking to them like fish to water within minutes, and suddenly have an entire Internet-full of knowledge at their fingertips. That can completely change their lives -- and imagine what might start happening when these groups of kids start collaborating together.

For those who want to understand the philosophy of the project, I've just submitted a video of Nicholas Negroponte introducing the OLPC project at TED Talks. He is the founder of the project, and former chairman of the MIT Media Lab.

Nicolas Cage is a TERRIBLE Ghost Rider

K0MMIE says...

Quite the opposite Qruel... nick cage is a HUGE comic book fan, he actually has a Ghost Rider tattoo they had to cover up for the film.

Even his name is from comics... he was born Nicholas Kim Coppola.... nephew to Francis Ford Coppola. He changes his name early in his career. The assumed surname is inspired by Marvel Comics character Luke Cage, a streetwise superhero.

A Gay Brigadier General Asks a question

Skeeve says...

As an infantry officer in the Canadian Forces I have to say that the attitude presented by these politicians and some of these comments are not only incorrect but also sickening. I serve with some amazing men and women, some of whom are openly homosexual, and though I too was somewhat uncomfortable with the idea of being checked out in the group shower, as MarineGunrock puts it, I got over it when I realized the professionalism of these soldiers. Numerous armed forces around the world have successfully allowed openly homosexual men and women to serve, with no negative consequences.
I find MarineGunrock's opinion on women in combat disgusting as well. Some may remember that last year Canada suffered it's first loss of a female soldier in combat when Capt. Nichola Goddard was killed in a firefight in Afghanistan. Female soldiers, with the same training/testing as males, are just as good soldiers. I think you Americans need to wake the fuck up and stop preaching freedom when you treat your own people like shit.

DON'T

Haha, one of my favourite Grindhouse trailers.

I think Nicholas Frost and Simon Pegg deserve some credit for their work in the trailer, though. You'll notice that a good portion of the characters in that cast are the 'rat pack' style team from Shaun of the Dead.
