VideoSift 5 Hosts (Sift Talk Post)
>> ^ant:
Aww, why get rid of Google Video, Metacafe, etc.? I still have those hosts in my to submit list.
You're already able to submit from any host. I'm assuming that's not changing and that the supported video hosts list is still for newbies only.
Pssst! Punkin has made it to Top 15, in record time! (Ftw Talk Post)

I never really apologized for my paranoia back when you joined the site. I'm sorry, Pumkin and Playhouse. You are both good people.
While sock-puppeting here from necessity during a rile with a few users that lasted until i shot myself in the head before putting up with their utter, mob-wrangling BULLSHIT!!....I watched as you, reeling from blanfist's meltdown that yer butt-buddy was on the depart (burnout), accused these obsessive cat-ladies of some vile conspiracy...LOWERING yourself to false accreditation and accusation not unlike (naming names of the departed next) blankfist, chronospos-*can't type it all because of the utterly self-aggrandizing and retarded handle chosen) and a few other taunting cohorts fanning the flames of their chaos.....And I thought to myself, "God, what a bunch of fucking retarded douchebags?!"...Not you dytopfutyyydy NO!, you always the devil's advocate and that with a modicum of civility and fucking snap....unlike the children you poked as they sat in their sweat-soaked chairs the sputum and smoke coating their monitors as the masturbated to the delight of their developmentally-disabled cronies here on Videosift. I encouraged them as wel;l, not saying I wasn't as guilty....I simply don;t have the need to be well-liked by everyone....I'm so glad to know that you still don;t either!
Way to make nice with the ladies there, Don Fucking Juan!!!
Kudos and dinner with dancing for you two newbie-fixtures, kindest folk here for quite some time...This place needed more cat videos, bet yer both happy that now yer jobs close to complete, RIGHT!!???
You people ever ban ol' choggie-chinga again and there's gonna be some fucking hell to pay, lemme tellls ya!!

Send me links to both and I'll fix it for you tonight after work... or (equally likely) someone else will see your comment and do it before I get near it.
The restrictions on hosts make more sense to me than the restriction on updating thumbnail images on your own posts before you're bronze... but really, these are small things. Come for the cool videos, the entertaining comments... stay for the petty restrictions and occasional bouts of bitter in-fighting. Hang on, that didn't come out right....

Here's an example of restrictions limiting "newbies": I have a dead video as one of my 3 submissions that I've found a replacement for and easily could fix, but I'm not at the right level so it's verboten. This makes me feel a little as if I'm a lower-class sifter even though all I want to do is correct one of my own posts.
Pretty sure a spambot would never self-repair a broken link that they submitted.
Likely one of those "special cases" that the VideoSift programmers didn't consider, and perfectly understandable if so. But it, and all the other grayed-out options, are a little limiting for "genuine" new members.

Wouldn't it have been better to give the guy money than a flip cam??
Sure ... why not? =o)

I laughed because I thought you were giving a sly criticism.
Once you get your sift-legs you can do fancy things like dead a video etc.
At least I didn't get called a meatbsg =oD
My apologies to MINT for the newbie fail and my thanks to my favorite clown for, once again, setting me straight

when the commentators/comedians were like "what the hell is all that about? no idea" i had an epiphany: i'm fluent in a second language!!
85 smf orc warrior main, full season 11 gear (diehard PVPer). fury since vanilla. still have my tony-the-tiger zg claws with double crusader i dps'd with back in classic. fury or go home
if you understood that, you too, are fluent in wowgeek =D
I dig the proc on those zg claws.
before they changed dual wielding from being a class skill to being a spec ability at the end of wotlk, i used to dual wield em but as arms for fun and when they proc'd i'd hit bladestorm and it did the most intense animation youve seen. lightning everywhere!
Reminds me of the VERY OLD windfury proc's, so sad they killed the timing of the sound and animation--I have NO CLUE why they did that it was PERFECT as working!?!? Maybe they thought the newbies would get scared off by the pretty lights and sounds, I know I run for a ditch and /cover.
Second, as is said elsewhere in a different fashion, I'd like to point out that once they really start talking I have no idea what language they are talking in. It sounds like Sumerian, but I don't specialize in languages that old and dry...
oh god, i remember the original windfury totems when it didnt increase melee haste but instead gave a chance to proc a second attack. it was crack for fury warriors. i'll never forget one zg run we did and windfury proc'd during a huge trash pull on a whirlwind.....after i had popped recklessness....giant yellow crits filled my screen, i pulled mass aggro, and promptly died. but it was badass
not long after i completed the claw set i met a failadin out in epl, they proc'd halfway through the fight, and he bubble hearthed lol

How Real People Will Use Windows 8
As a person who moonlights in tech support, I am dreading when this comes pre-installed on computers. I still have people trying to "get" Windows 7.
In the grand scheme of things, Windows 7 is not a huge leap from XP.
I like the concepts of Windows 8, but I really think they need to make Windows 8 work a little more like Windows 7 for the "newbies" and allow power users and the like to make use of Metro.
All Your History - DOTA Part 1: The Pebble that Started ...
You cannot play as a newbie in any of the Frozen Throne DOTA games. They literally kick you out the rooms once they see that you do not have any match records on your IP. Really tough to break in.
original everquest is not hard-part 1
What made it hard was dying over and over to newbie trains and not getting groups for days on end. The game was unforgiving in a way that the new generation are not.
Westboro Baptist Church Humiliated in Vegas
The nice stuff Jesus supposedly said is used to swing a sale with the newbies, while the real agenda seems to be a race to the apocalypse to prove their god was the right one. The only thing that's changed over the centuries is less people are murdered for believing the wrong thing, thank you separation of church and state.
You can play logic games with these people all you like, but it changes nothing. I doubt even mind altering drugs would sway them, but might be funny to watch.

Power points are for sending your video to beggar's canyon with the *beg invocation. If you happen to get two of them, you can also *promote your own video.
There is a beginner's guide available, although having been here for a while you're not exactly a newbie... just a non-video-posting member.

So wtf does siftbot tell me these power points are for? This site is such a mess.
Vermont. Dive in!
HEY, I've been here! Looks like the secret's out, this is literally one of my favorite places in the world I can escape to with any regular frequency. Huntington Gorge kicks bushels of Green Mountain ass.
Been going here like clockwork every summer since I was about 5 years old. It's about a 25-30 minute drive from Burlington, 15 minutes or so from Essex. Beautiful place, a couple different spots to jump from depending on how bold/experienced you are. A little something for everyone's specific comfort zone.
The spot where all the deaths occur and will probably continue to occur is unsurprisingly the highest/trickiest place to jump from. There's not much clearance on either side of you as you try to clear two overlapping ridges and NOT land in the "dead zone".
Basically, the river current plunges under the bottom of the rock face a few feet away from where you would want to land and goes underground (the regulars refer to it as a whirlpool but I'm not exactly sure what the proper term for it is) for a good 30 feet before resurfacing; the vast majority of people sucked under don't come out the other end, getting pinned against debris (there's said to be a few good sized logs down there) or stuck in a pocket where the oscillating current keeps you in spin-cycle until you drown.
The "newbie" area, in video @ 2:19 with the guy back-flipping, is a 20-25 foot drop with a nice 12 ft circumference pool to land in, 10 feet deep with a soft sandy bottom. This is where you go to build up courage for "the jump". Here, the only thing you really need to worry about is hitting the water properly (clench those cheeks and streamline yourself!).
The slides/caves carved out by waterfalls further up/down river are also places to check out if you're not into the whole thrill-seeking thing, accessibility depending on how dry/wet a summer it's been.
What an utterly agreeable configuration of natural elements this place is, well, for me at least.
